If Only Rude Fans at Races Could Understand This... 

These are the same people that call me Leroy and don’t even know the difference between Leroy and a Canam lol.

He really does wait till everyone has been talked to and taken pictures with. I was one of the people at the last cleetus and cars at freedom factory and after almost everyone had left. Cleetus came out to get warbird and saw there was still a group of about 30 people hanging out. He signaled for all of us to come over to the corner and he talked and signed everything for each last one of us after he spent all day putting on the show. He’s a true legend 💪🏻

So basically, that Dad was acting more like a child than his kid: what a great role model he is!

Met you in tulsa. Completely understood. When everyone else was packing up to go home, you was taking pictures and signing autographs. This dude works his ass off for us.

I feel like decent human beings already understand this.

I’m a manager of high class clientele, there is a way to upset those fans that want an autograph without upsetting them, anytime there is an event you need to have one or two guys with you that aren’t normally seen on camera, they should serve a few different purposes, one of them being basic security, and also come up with a few certain cues that will let that person know you are done and ready to move on, when it’s time to stop the signing/talkin with fans they need to be the person that stops the encounter and insists that you(cleetus) moves on bc there is somewhere else you are needed at, the fans may get frustrated but they won’t look at the high profiled person as the one who dropped contact with them, they can look at your security as the bad guy so to speak and not the high profile client, it works very well with any and all celebrities at events, you need to have someone with you that everyone can look at as the bad guy while you are only doing as security tells you

"I stay after and sign until the line is gone." This statement, right here, nullifies any argument that dad had. Just because you have all the entitlements, Darren, doesn't mean everything happens on your schedule. Too many people think since tubers like "a certain truck fuel brothers" manufacture every last "job" on their channel, then everyone does. Cleetus isn't making "reality TV" he's making a self-documentary.

These are competition events, not meet and greets...the fact that people don't understand that is crazy 🤦‍♂️

I can attest to the fact that he stays until the bitter end when it comes to his fans. I showed up in April 2019 to Cleetus and Cars Bradenton. I towed a demo car from Detroit, Mi in my enclosed car hauler. I got to chat with him when we lined up for the demo drags but I was in a car ready to go down track. We were some of the last fans to leave and I asked him to sign the inside of my car hauler. Well, BOOM, Ole Cleeter, James, and Cooper all signed and chatted for a good 10 minutes before being pulled away by other fans. Cleetus and team are a Real Class Act!!!

He’s human, just like all of us. He’s there to race, let him do his thing. If your a true fan, you’d let him do his thing and happily watch the freedoms fly from aside.

I was at the event and got to talk to George and James and get photos with them and with Cleetus. I was pleasantly surprised that Cleetus is just as nice in person as he is in his videos. He spent a ton of time after he was done racing to take photos. I was so impressed and feel bad that some fans treated him and his team that way. James and George were just as cool in person as well. Great team they make. So proud of you all! Thanks again for making me smile with your videos. My days at work are always stressful and these are just a quick break from my reality to be able to share some of yours.

People now a days feel like they are entitled to everything. Sucks people are giving you flack for doing your thing.

I waited till 12:30 at night till cleetus was packed up at street car takeover NC. He spent all day racing and dealing with the cars. I know he was tired and ready to leave but once Mr Cleetus was done he stayed and signed every hat and took pictures with every single person there. Just shows his character and how nice of a guy he is. People need to get a grip and grow up. Give Cleetus and his crew time to do their things. They could just sign stuff for an hour and then just not interact with anyone else if they wanted to like many other people do that are famous. So be thankful they take this much time to meet all of us.

Last year at ls fest Garrett stood out in the POURING rain to take pictures, shake hands and talk with fans. I was so impressed how genuine he was and it literally made me like him twice as much as before. You can’t please everyone but you dang sure give it your best shot!

this should be on the main channel. This is why people eventually stop interacting with fans. Some people just have no manners or sense. I didn't even bother you guys when I saw you all in the lobby at our Hotel for Cleetus and Cars Indy. Just felt rude to interrupt.

Honestly, these are the kinda dude that can GFTS. The way I see this is that you have a hobby and you're kind enough to take us along for the ride. You owe us nothing and we shouldn't expect anything. Thank you for what you DO do. Anyone dumb enough to think they can demand deserves nothing.

My brother and I had the honor to meet you guys at LS Fest West on May 5th a few years back in Vegas and despite being tired and drained from everything you all did take the time to have a few words and sign a few hats and let me put a sticker on the back Ruby that is still there to this day. Thank you for all you do and keep doing what you do.

I wish people were as understanding as my 7-year-old son was when he found out there would be no chance to meet Cleetus at the drift night in June. We could not keep him up late enough to stay till the very end and he was disappointed, but understood. This is a 7-year-old and you have grown men and women who do not understand it.

I met Cleetus in Denver and i walked by him, and he went out of his way to talk to me. Sometimes influencers are different off camera than on camera. Cleetus was probably even more nice off camera when he took his time to say hello and chat for a while. Pretty dope guy and deserves the respect.

They don't care for Cleet, they just want him to write on something. As "viewers" on RU-vid, we give Cleet our time & attention because he puts in the effort.

It’s crazy that you even have to explain this. But with so many fans your bound to have some but jobs I’m there. Keep making great content and putting on the amazing shows that you guys do. He’s not lying when he says he waits and signs stuff and meets fans, met him after the freedom 500 this year and I was one of the first people to get stuff signed and meet him. There was a solid 2-3 hundred people in line when me and my group had gotten photos with him. It was already late at night but he wanted to stay and meet fans. Genuinely a great stand up guy.

Mate you can’t compromise on safety. Running 180mph is no joke. Once the competition is done then sure look after the fans. But REAL FANS know you’re there to race, you’re not a celebrity. You bring us along for the ride. P.S bad luck about the DQ for Mullet 🤣🤣🤣 dems the breaks

I absolutely hate that “fans” do this to you. These entitled jerks are everywhere and it seems the more popular or famous someone may be there more these people expect you to do something for them. I attended RMRW 2.0 last year and did the fanboy nearby and took some pics of the cars but didn’t want to bother any of you guys because I knew just how busy you are, especially at that event. Will see you again this year at TV (both days!) hopefully you’ll have some free time but it won’t ruin my day if you don’t. 🙂

I legit try and go to everyone of his events in Florida and I have yet to talk face to face with cleetus due to the fact I respect everything he does and I kno how busy he is and even if I’m just one less fan he has to “deal” with I feel it’s a help to take some stress off him he already does enough for us as fans already….

Cleetus and the boys are just regular people. That are trying to win races, make big moves in life, and put out killer content for us. The best thing we could do as fans is get them the space they need. When their safety is on the line, racing comes first. Respect cleetus, keep rippin.

I’m a dad, and I’d be appalled at seeing another one arguing with you to get his kid an autograph - that’s a learning opportunity for the kid! My parents taught my brother and me that you don't bother someone while they're working. They also taught us that if someone we consider a celebrity is NOT in a public appearance situation (i.e eating dinner with their family, prepping for a race) you do not approach them. I'm so thankful to have been raised with the understanding of common courtesy and how to be a decent human being!

I don't know who gave you all the advice in the beginning, but you do this proper man. Doesn't seem to matter how shitty some people get, you always manage to say it without coming across the wrong way. What kind of "fan" cries over a signature, and hates when you don't sign something? Any fan of anything should be just that. Celebrate the good times, and feel the pain of the bad times. I hope you know, that the people that are that rude, are not fans, and truthfully, are not people you should ever have to worry about their feelings. The rest of us get it and we understand. Earlier this year you told me to give you a second while you were on the side taking a break at CNC. I instantly felt bad for you. You enjoy it but it’s exhausting. Cheers to ALL of y’all for keeping it going.

So so true..... working in pharmacy, it was the same thing: customers asking repeatedly how long their Rx's would take, and (in my head) I would say "the more you interrupt me, the slower I go, since I can't focus on getting it done". Same applies to your situation Garrett, the less time it takes to prep and tune, the quicker you get to the lanes and do the run, then can focus on the fans. #respect

I was at an event in thunder valley last year and he said a little space buddy cause I got too close didn't realize the stress he goes through and him putting it in to perspective helps me understand and appreciate what he goes through we as people get caught up in the magic that is a video and don't think about every single concern he has and as he should be considering he is doing something so serious and dangerous and he just wants to concentrate so I'm sorry garret for crowding you i didn't think it through i was just so excited to see in person years of magical videos

If you show up in person, it should be for the races, the cars, and to see the old giraffe or james drive them... talking to them or getting an autograph is a bonus and you shouldn't be doing that while they are at all busy. It's not rude to ask, but respect the answer.

If you've been watching the culture-shift over the last couple years, this makes total sense. We are raising a bunch of self-entitled pricks through Tik-Tok and Instagram, and making sure people know that they are *NEVER* responsible for their own actions.

"It only takes a second to sign it" it also only takes a second to mess up the tune or lower tire pressure to much and you hit the wall. A million things can go wrong when you pull up to the line and wanting to make sure everything is in order so you survive the pass should always be first priority.
