AmIam I use a fragrance load of 7%-8%. I use C3 Cargrill wax. (Other waxes Ecosoya, Golden 444, Golden 464, Golden 415, Soy 120, Soy 125). As you see there’s tons out there. Takes a lot of testing. I’ve settled with C3. Same for Coconut or Coconut/Soy. Every brand is different. Some better than others. Both have challenges but soy is more cost friendly depending on your budget.

I look for 100% natural products that are eco-friendly such as soy and beeswax and stay away from things like synthetic wax that has plastics and other chemicals that are not safe to breathe. As a beginner I've had very little issues making soy based candles, another thing I don't quite understand is why you would want a completely smooth top when it's just going to melt anyway but that's probably just me. I do like the advice though on the coconut based soy wax and will definitely give it a try and maby compare it to my 100% soy. 💙

I have too worked with soy for a year and only in the last 4 months just managed a great hot throw. The cold throw was always amazing. I use golden wax 464 in a 30cl container and double cl10 wick with a 8 to 10% essential oil mix. I also cure my candles for at least 2 weeks with a cover in a dark room at room temp.

I am currently testing my candles that are 100% soy and I'm a tad...annoyed due to the weak scent throw and frosting. Hi Malika! Making your own blends can be challenging for consistency. Also most candle waxes use a hydrogenated oil versus regular store bought oils so that they don't go bad. Try a pre-blended coconut and soy wax like our Virgin Coconut Soy.

We recommend trying a wax that holds fragrance better than 100% soy such as our Deluxe Satin Soy and increase your % load to 10-12%. Also get a second opinion! Olfactory fatigue is real and sometimes we lose the ability to smell fragrances we've been working with for a long time.

Let's all help each other! Use me to comment: a) if you have already figured out your ideal % of essential oil (Y/N) b) what % of essential oils was that (x%) c) at what temperature you added the essential oil to the wax (x° Degrees Celcius) d) at what temperature you poured (x° Degrees Celcius) Make sure to specify: 1) what type of wax you used (if 100% soy, when possible, specify if it's 464, 444, etc.) 2) are you sure your essential oils were 100% pure? (Y/N) 3) what essential oil you used (lavender, eucaliptus, patchouli, etc.) 4) If you have already figured out the wick size and all the rest. (Y/N) (This so that we can be sure that this is not interfering with your results)
