@@chrzanicmakaron8082 probably not, he's gotten backlash about it in the past and it's been a long time since the game came out... still possible though
@@njstudent155 He'd better. I've always found the concept of developers putting back doors in their games specifically to fuck with livestreamers while they play absolutely amazing.
@@Youhadabadday2021 It can be funny when done lightly, but Adam once did it to Markiplier for 2 entire HOURS, all because Mark said that he had heard "bad rumors" about the dev. And not just minor trolling either, Adam made the game practically unplayable for, again, 2 _hours_.
"so uh the further into the deep web you go, kidnappers will try and kidnap you" I just imagine some kidnappers on a website tracking these users like "Fuck, he's only visited 3 pages in the last 30 minutes ...is that even worth abducting him?" "OOH a user with 5 hours in the deep web, lets g- oh wait someone else got to them first, FRICK" yknow? like , like these kidnappers are just pondering your deep web stats , like you have high web activity but low cypher code cracking.
welcome to the game is a great horror experience, its just too bad that the developer is an asshole who literally has the ability to make your personal game impossible if he feels like it
Yeah, the speedrun community was the first to catch on and made a mod for exactly this. It disables the dev from interfering, not sure if it also stops him watching though.
I got back into this game recently and oh my God. The SILENT ATMOSPHERE of waiting in the dark as the kidnapper is outside is one thing I will never forget. It makes my eyes water from fear. Update: I tried again with the mic on. Literally covered my mouth and froze when I heard what sounded like footsteps behind me. The fact that this game is $5 SHOCKS ME.
if you were to look close enough then you would see the kidnapper lacks eye protection an also stalls at yoinking you so he is not only legaly blind when you turn off the light but also suseptable to a quick (no more eyes) moment
no game has made me jump this much (and this isnt even the full thing) its just the sudden turn and sound cue for me. also the suspense. that shit is powerful in any horror game lmao
It is. 90% of the """""horror""""" comes from the fact that a single mistake can destroy a half hour or longer run, which is exponentially worse in the sequel. There's also the fact that the dev literally had the tools to detect when someone was playing his game and spawn enemies outside your door. idk if he still has that but he did use it to fuck with people until he got called on it
@@Crazycolors1248 Yep, i'm not very well prepared to explain but if you're got half an hour, the vid "Markiplier, Welcome to the Game, & the Ethics of Developer Trolling" explains it pretty well
@@dirtydan9785From what was described the Dev had tools to mess with the game of content creators to ensure that they would always lose by making the breather and kidnapper spawn at the exact same time whenever they wanted to?
@@cyanideytandcuriousseadogg4160 Yep, and the dollmaker- He *mainly* did this with streamers, but he absolutely had the ability to fuck with any random player's game, including spawning files on their computer and playing music
While I don't have the best opinion of how this game plays (I kind of hate it if I'm being honest), this series has been by far the most consistently spooky horror experience I've ever seen. One of the websites in the sequel especially still disturbs me to think about many years later. It's the diary written by a girl's stalker: you read about him growing more unstable, he kills her, then he falls into a delusion where he believes they're in a happy relationship. Nightmarish stuff. I will never attempt to play this game ever again, though.
I remember that Markiplier couldn't finish the game because the dev install a backdoor so he could manipulate the RNG so a he couldn't win. So yeah the dev is scummy.
@@FilmBucketnot sure about that, Adam is known to be not very fond of content creators. He straight up made WTTG2 as hard as possible and then said the game was not meant for content creators and would not acommodate for them
@@ryokiritani4187 While yes it's been known, it's also been extremely obvious when he does it Not to mention, the update that introduced the backdoor was in 2020, Markiplier played the game in 2018
The backdoor was added well after Markiplier played the game, and it was for Welcome To The Game 2. This video is on Welcome To The Game 1.....version 2.0
I thought this game was acary because the developer had a little malwere in it so they could ban players, or make enemies spawn in. Though that might of only been in the second game. Also I could be wrong about the specifics I just remember it was used to make the game unplayable for some streamers. Spawning in the secret killer and stuff of that sort. It could be removed by now.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y1LKFcEIPMU.html Yep and here is a video link to a complete rundown about it (or a good enough rundown about it) the dev is just kinda an ass to anyone who says he is crappy.... truth is he is just a shitty person, while trolling streamers is funny.. its only funny when it doesnt just... oh idk... fuck with everything for like 2 hours or so lmao
Welcome to the Game is such a fairly grounded horror and that makes it enjoyable. (The 2nd one less so but still just as fascinating!). Your concept has me fascinated especially after falling in love with Killer Frequency.
I LOVE this game! One of my favorite horror puzzle(?) games. The atmosphere and the area sweeping mixed with trying to delve deeper into the mystery of the dark web is an amazing duality!
The best type of horror i feel is always taking something real, real photos, real concepts, etc. And cranking that ish up. I would like to see an analog horror series based on those old rabies PSAs at some point cause watching one of those was so scary for no real reason except the lack of background noise and the dude's voice
Five Nights at the Internet: Where Freddy wants to stop you from slacking by personally stuffing you into an animatronic. (That just came to my head, I know it isnt a riff at FNAF but hadn't realized the sinilarity of juggling a PC to progress the game...and getting off whatever you're doing to avoid dting)
Ooo it’s indeed looks and sounds great 😳 But I kinda can’t get rid of a thought that kidnapper is saying “Dobriy vecher” which means “Good evening” in Russian Maybe I’m hearing things though😅
I've loved welcome to the game for so long! This is a gem of a horror game and it'll always hold a special place in my heart. I even speedran the game for a while. When I get the time I'm gonna be so happy to watch this video because content of this game is sadly a rarity nowadays.
I love the different websites they make. A lot of them are very creepy and they all feel so realistic. Whether it’s sites to purchase illegal things, share your darkest desires, or just give a surprise to whoever comes across it they’re all so good.
Glad the game is finally getting recognition! I haven't heard a word about it in a long while despite it being honestly one of the scariest games around imo
Nice to see the game get some more recognition. Played wttg 1 a while back and got me and a few friends wttg 2 and we have been having a blast (as much of a blast as you can have while playing wttg)
Honestly, I wonder how good it would be to have a co-op version of this game. It's a horror game where you have the one guy at the computer finding the codes, and everyone is looking around the house to see if there's shit going down. I think that could be kind of cool because there could be like just enough problems where people have to rotate and look around and can't just look out one window.
One funny thing about WTTG2 is that the developer can remote into your game to troll you. The game also has an in game browser that can play for example youtube videos, so you may see what this can lead to.
Have you played the dev's other game, "Scrutinized"? it plays basically the same as the first "Welcome to the game", but imo it looks more entertaining, or at least less frustrating.
This was a super entertaining video, and I love that you and pastra both love the game’s mechanics and visuals! I’ve played it before but i was too scared :( Might try it again soon?
Love the video! One thing though, I thought the van showing up outside is related to the breather, not the kidnapper. I mean, it makes sense that the breather who uses the front door would park his car out there.
is it because it makes you consciously aware that someone could be lurking outside your own house at night irl? Because that's what does it for me haha
I think the more terrifying part is the developer who decided to troll a streamer for 2 hours straight and ruining his game all because of some petty drama.
the way you say DatBootyDoe7 is so fucking funny to me, i was stuck on that 1 part of the video for a while cause i just kept rewinding to hear you say it lmaoo
Just something I noticed, I’m pretty sure the “loogaroo” one of the pages is based on is supposed to sound like French “loup garou” (“werewolf”, pronounced basically the same). Nothing to do with anything, I just thought it was neat. Good vid
I feel like Welcome to the Game would be like, 10x more effective if the game utilized fmv, similar to At Dead of Night. Not that the game isn't already terrifying, i just feel like adding fmv could enhance the immersion. Just a personal preference since I find the 3D models of the antagonists somewhat lacking
@@itsgonnabeanaurfrommeIt's easy to tell a food critic they aren't a chef when you aren't a chef you aren't a chef yourself. Why don't you make a game yourself and keep to yourself :)
