One of my former colleagues wore bad wigs. She told me that she used to spend hours in salon chair getting her hair braided regularly and it got to be too expensive and time consuming. She said now she just throws on low maintenance wigs that she ordered online.
This hard wig thing is new however back in the day I have heard women say that black women only wear their natural hair when dating outside of their race because black men didn't like curly natural hair and it attracked men of other races.
Lol my hubby is white and simply doesnt know about hair like that. He loves my natural hair. I dont think expensive wigs are attractive. I think there are far better things i can spend my money on.
Nothing was deep about that. She basically said that white men see a bw w a "bad wig " and feel sorry 4 her or see her as vulnerable which is stupid because 9 out of 10 of those WM want to be dominated by you. Esp if you're small and cute. She completely missed that most of them aren't fat, no neck , mean -girl ass bitches which legit is the reason. And a lot of women who aren't insecure about being fat and mean don't care that much about wigs or how their hair is.
She is NOT a deep thinker because she thinks walking lock step with the community means you have to push a Euro centric beauty standard. She mentioned our ancestors but they did not care about layed edges our Asian women hair on black bodies.
She doesn’t make any sense. Those White don’t care because the women they are with have natural hair under the wigs and just slap it on for appearances. They date the most African women, not Western Black women. African women don’t care about fake hair. Because when they are home, they are natural and themselves.
One more point is that some guys/women are looking for a character type, moreso than a person. They are attracted to an unnatural look. People have different fetishes and I believe this look is just one.
We don't like hard wigs. However, we want you to do whatever you feel happy doing, and if that means wearing a wig, then so be it. Also, we don't want to piss you off by being critical of your appearance.
It's rooted in anti-blackness. Ita basically as simple as not having edges /looking whitewashed. As the girl said, you appear to be more easily attainable / conquered. Not exactly the sale, but related. Prepandemic I was looking for someone to stay with on couch surfing, because I was going to a concert and the ppl I was traveling with booked an airbnb without telling me. When my profile contained my actual personality- "i love books, philosophy and politics" type of profile...I had zero takers. I went back through and Asian washed my profile. Used Japanese emojis like this: (✿˶◕‿◕˶).𖥔 ݁ ˖𖦹⭒°｡⋆ Removed my entire personality to make it look like I'm basic B. "I love movies and Im a total foodie" I only left one sentence about the fact that I liked politics at the very end. After I updated, I had to beat hosts off with a stick. Men in prime real-estate (one apartment was near times square) were fighting to get me to stay. But it was crickets when my thoughts maybe seemed "too black". I even asked the guy that I stayed with why he picked me and he said he found my (Asian washed basic bish with no brain) profile intriguing. I think it was not being the presumed angry imaginary black woman in their head. So I do not think she is off at all. People love everything about black ppl except black ppl. They want watered down versions
Wrong! She seems to be speaking about the AA culture! Black folks as you well know are not a monolith. We come from ALL OVER THE WORLD, and usually, when we do, our cultures are woven into the very fiber of our being and there is NO disconnect. So I think that woman, draped in the rainbow flag and face looking like a pin cushion, is not someone I would look to, to philosophize about the Black culture. When I look at her, I think she is disconnected from the same culture she seems to think she understands. I see thrash metal, an alternative lifestyle, surrounded by white friends, and grunge parties. Lesson learned: she wouldn't know why some Black women were bad wigs UNLESS she asked them. It could be many reasons; or the biggest reason? Mind the business that pays us, and let people live!
It's hilarious that they don't also notice that most of the women are also petite/fit/or athletic build AND they have a bubbly generally pleasant disposition, and a lot of them.have small lips and angular noses too😂😂😂 I guess they'll just throw a hard wig on the big ass back and then say it didn't work for them😂😂😂
