Why won't my new electric chainsaw start? 

Thank you for this very informative video. I have a Greenworks and this is what happened to me. I can now go out today and cut down a few small trees and cut up a broken limb that I planned to get out of my pasture. Well explained and to the point, which are the best videos!

Very good , I was doing same mistake. I thought my chainsaws not working but when I pulled hand Protection it started working thanks for your instructions.

I just got an electric chainsaw today. I’ve never used a chainsaw even though I grew up in “the sticks” and we used firewood all winter long (I guess my dad didn’t think is was right for a girl to operate one. Both my brothers learned 😕). I was so disappointed when I pushed the safty and the trigger and NOTHING HAPPENED! Thought dad was right😢. Couldn’t fine any reference to my problem until I found this! Watch out trees! I was having issues with my Craftsman 18" electric chainsaw not starting. After viewing your video, I followed your guideline about the handle being in the safety position. After pulling it back, the chainsaw started. Thank you for helping me out.

I felt like you just saved the planet!!! I just made a purchase and thought I had a defective one. I came on RU-vid to figure out how to take it apart since it was allegedly ready to use. I have a WORX and I was like is it this simple since your Ryobi looks similar to mines. I had tried to move the handle but couldn't so my Dad had to show me how to hit it with just a bit more force to loosen it's grip since it was new. Worked like a charm. Now I feel like I didn't make a bad purchase. He always answers my prayers!

Apparently I've just always left the safety guard in the on position so had forgotten all about it. I must have bumped it into the locked position. Yay, now I can go back to spring clean up!

LOL, Thank you for your video. I had my chainsaw for a year and it always started up. Yesterday I was cutting down a branch and my chainsaw stopped working. Somehow this safety hand protector had moved on me without me knowing. I was getting ready to buy a new chainsaw now I don't have too.
