Because you always seem concerned about showing work that other RU-vid channels wouldn't, you should know that's what some of us appreciate about your channel. You show the real (and often tedious) work that goes into a project. Hope you never change that about your videos!

Really like the day-in-the-life of a restoration video's, great reminder of the incredible detail that goes into a quality restoration.

The occasional "all over the place" videos are part of what makes your channel fun

Thanks for not glossing over the little things. So many restoration channels just show the money shots, and not all the grunts, the sweating, and the cursing that is required to get to completion. It’s not pretty or sexy but you still show it and make it look good. Keep it up and get those 600k subscribers.

I'm consistently amazed at how multi-skilled you are. Most restoration channels have a few things they can do, usually getting the mechanicals working. "Look!" they say, "It's completely fixed now!" and then they drive away in something that still looks like a complete crapwagon. You can do it all and, yes, please continue showing yourself doing all the things. That's what I'm here for.

Love field trips to the salvage yard. One of my all time favorite things. Back East in Pennsylvania spotting old cars at a scrap yard was an all day Saturday event.

I like your eclectic videos. It catches a lot of detail that gets missed in the usual RU-vid videos. The junk yard diversions are cool too. You find interesting stuff, and seem to have a blast doing it. 👍

You should consider getting a set of gasket punches so you don't need to use sockets to punch holes in stuff.

The Kaiser is a ‘49 Traveler, and is one of the first hatchbacks. The engine is a Continental six.

Wow, those re-chromed. bumpers are fabulous. Whatever shop did that is first rate! Please do not apologize for showing the myriad of small jobs that go into building cars. That is one of the main charms of your video.

When you are an essentially a one person band, things don’t go like finger snaps. They didn’t in the early days of the garage. At this stage, it is just tedious things that slow you down. Loving these weekend morning videos. I briefly drove the 2.25L supercharged Millenia that I borrowed from a relative. 210 hp in a 3,400 lb car. No speed demon but not slow either. The Millenia was Mazda’s luxury car at the time and had a very “European” flavor to it. As always, thank you, Sarah. 👍👍👍

This was a perfect balance between a vlog format and a more curated edit. And I’m still impressed by how well you explain everything: the techniques, the process and the reasons why you do what you do. If I was a millionaire, I’d buy this car for what it’s worth, counting all the woman-hours spent on it. Keep it up, you’re truly one of a kind.

The build doesn't look like it's going fast but there is a lot going on for sure, and I appreciate seeing you clean up the places no one will see. I think it gives the car a new car smell, new car feel.

The smiling bumpers look sooo much better. 2) Especially because the Kaiser is fairly complete, it should definitely be saved. 3) The Mercedes with the removable hardtop is even a cabriolet! Such a W 107 R is worth a small fortune in Germany and would never ever be scrapped. Such a car would be the perfect summer vehicle for you, Sarah. 4) I like this video a lot. That White Mopar in the yard appears to be a 2 door 1971 Plymouth Fury. Another one to be saved. Most had the 383 V8s. Great video Sarah and awesome work that you do.

Hi Sarah; That 2.3 supercharged Millenia you stumbled upon was a Milenia ‘S’. Supercharged because it was a Miller Cycle engine, some craziness that altered valve timing to use the positive manifold pressure to fill the cylinder faster. The regular Millenia was a 2.5 which was already complicated enough. The fact that the ‘upgrade’ model had a smaller displacement engine was a sure sign that bad judgment had been employed. We did valve covers on an ‘S’ and the tech scrambled a few of the myriad of vacuum lines. Took four or five returns to get the ‘check engine’ light out meanwhile the dealership wouldn’t even touch it. The cars developed such a reputation for irrepairibility that no Mazda specialty shop from Sacramento to Fresno would do more than an oil change. Wash your hands after touching the VIN plate on that malevolent serpent. BTW you look better and sexier in sneakers and blown out jeans in a Pick N Pull than all the Swifties in the Mall. Just sayin’

I'm in no hurry to see this project done. Most of the entertainment is Sarah, her personality, and her skill. The Celica is the result of this. The car is going to be awesome, almost too nice to risk driving (almost! It would be a blast to drive around), I like it, so therefore I'm in no hurry to see it put away for the next project.

Sarah a suggestion, when and if you get or find your angle grinder wrench just use and cable tie to attach it to the cord near the plug. This is so you can't lose it anymore and it will remind you to unplug it while changing disks so you don't accidentally get hurt. Great content

Okay Sara, I have to tell you that you can remove those discs by hand on the disc, they only need to be tightened hand tight to work too :) haven't used a tool for many, many years.

The bumperettes were a intermediate step. The government was enacting the impact standards but was giving the manufacturers grace time to restyle before the full-on bumpers became mandatory. Like in 1973, the big impact bumpers were mandatory in front, but they weren't mandatory front and back until 74.

Pro tip, tape the chuck of your grinder, drill etc to the power cord right by the plug. You'll always know where it is and it almost always forces you to unplug it in order to use the chuck.

Keep up the hard work Sarah. I most certainly understand feeling like you are all over the place on a car build. I’ve been doing the same on my 1968 Barracuda swapping the old torsion bar suspension, etc to double adjustable coilover, rack and pinion steering from a fox body with a gm Saginaw pump, tubular k-member, upper/lower control arms, adding a sway bar and a 4 wheel disc brake conversion. Of course that turns into going down the rabbit hole for a bunch of other modifications. Lol. I am loving the Celica project and truly love seeing you show a lot of the little things that go into restoring it the proper way.

Adding a metal plate to the rear seat back/rear structure is done for rigidity provided it's riveted or welding in. It's done for aesthetics too.

How you feel about cars being crushed is how I feel with houses. When you see a house in bad shape, at some point a family was excited to purchase and move into it.

I remember my first trip to a junkyard back in the 80's. I was excited to go see what treasures it had but then got progressively sadder with each row I walked.

I just stumbled across your channel this week, and all I can say is thank you for cleaning parts before you work on them or installing them, your builds are super clean, in both senses of that word.. if that makes sense. I'm a huge fan of Toyota, their cars, but also their business culture and this car honors that, and if I had billions this is the type of projects I would build. The '69 Monaco (or Polara? they were essentially the same for '69) has a 318, which was the base engine that year. The 360 wasn't introduced until the '71 model year.

People get tired of sinking money into a vehicle. Some get bad diagnostic results like my dad once and parked my mom's car in the woods and left it there. I came home from an overseas deployment and fixed it and drove it for years. No shop had found the problem.

When I bought my house there was an old Keizer, a 40’s Plymouth, and a 50 Chevy out back. The Chevy is still there but it’s so rusted hardly any of it is left.

A lot work goes into these builds. Sarah has the passion for it. Plus pleading with us to save the vehicles, love it. Wish I could save them all…except for the Yugo perhaps, well maybe just one Yugo. I’m really enjoying this channel

For punching holes in carpet and jute, Harbor Freight has a 9 piece hollow punch set that I found works very well when I was replacing the carpet in my truck. Rip socket.

They make hole punches for upholstery for cardboard when making door panels.

Yay Sarah goes scrapyard hunting!! I’m English so I could happily watch whole videos of you pointing at stuff in scrapyards and going ‘ooh look at that!’ as you find all sorts of interesting stuff.

If that Cressida is a MX73 car, it looks like it is, grab the front hubs, calipers and all related brake brackets. Those are upgrades for similar year Mk2 Celica/Supras. You can even use those on 1st gen Celicas. I have this setup on my roadrace 77 Celica GT.

Quick tip for the angle grinder make sure it's unplugged push the lock button on the back then grab the the wheel and turn it will loosen or tighten without that annoying wrench.

Cleaning before sanding is often a must on old parts. If you don’t clean off certain contaminates before sanding they will penetrate deeper and remain even after cleaning thus ruining the coatings you later apply.

The Kaiser was a very rare travel-all - I think the even rarer Fraser version was called the Vagabond - and it looked like a conventional sedan, but opened up to carry large objects like a couch or appliance. The driver side rear door was welded closed - I'm not sure why. Back in the day, the spare wheel was stored vertically in the trunk, but to make the body style functional they mounted the spare behind the driver seat. Steve Magnante did a video about the Fraser Vagabond version. This car is so rare it needs to be saved, and powered by a modern V8.
