Not to mention a guy that kicked Goku's ass and the one that saved Bulma from Goku's Great Ape rampage. Think about it. If he didn't save Bulma we wouldn't have her right now.
Bulma was originally angry at Yamcha for skipping dates because he keeps training or doing random stuff like baseball. The cheating thing came from a throwaway line from Future Trunks that only really exists to justify Bulma x Vegeta (and even then that relationship is crazy)
Honestly, just the skipping dates would be good enough reason on it's own, if expanded upon. The out of character cheating plot point wasn't at all necessary. Hell I feel like Bulma just didn't like how much of a pushover he was in regards to arguments with her, and saw him as "less of a man" as sexist as that is (granted I may be thinking of the TeamFourStar Bulma here, not canon Bulma) and was more attracted to Vegeta cause he actually pushes back.
There's also the fact that Yamcha is pretty and attracts alot of girls and bulma is a bit jealous about that. You would think that whole greving moment Bulma had in the Saiyan arc would have strengthened their relationship... unfortunately toriyama had other ideas. Atleast they seem to be best friends, he gets invited to bulma's parties alot
@@BreitheNua well then again besides Vegeta and Beerus, most of the male characters were pushovers when Bulma throws a fit. I mean the one episode in Super Goku dodged one of Bulma’s slaps and Gohan, Goten and even Bulma were surprised. Implying that he or anyone else Never dodges Bulma’s assaults and just takes it.
Actually in the beginning of DBZ we see him in the arms of 2 women while he was blushing and laughing. So the hole cheating thing was there for awhile. The joke was Yamcha used to be scared of woman but now he’s a playboy who’s constantly flirting with them. Fame got to his head. I love him but he definitely got what was coming to him at the beginning. That is being dumped.
What happened to him is the assassination of his character. Toriyama transformed him from a fighter who fears nothing, ready to put his life on the line, into a coward, delusional, and cheater. To make Bulma appear even better with Vegeta
Another part I don't get is while Yamcha was offed like a joke in both the final tournament of og dragonball and by the saibaman, both instances were extremely justifiable and had solid intentions behind them. Him losing to Kami shouldn't be a big deal because it was Kami. Yeah he did end up getting goofed on during the fight, but Yamcha made Kami need to try and was the main motivator as to why Kami was willing to train them for the Saiyan invasion, something that no human being has ever came close to doing. That is a HUGE deal in OG Dragonball. And then we have the Saibaman which you already mentioned the noble intentions behind him taking the fight, but people seem to forget that Yamcha actually was stronger and beat that Saibaman. His hubris got the better of him in the moment and he got caught off guard by something nobody in the group had any idea Saibaman could do. A lot of people would have fallen for the same trick without the knowledge in advance. Later instances made him much more of a joke, but his initial instances left room to show that Yamcha was improving and he was doing things with the best intentions at heart. Punishing him for it is so strange.
Piccolo even says in the dub “iamikaze, no way to defend,” implying that nobody could’ve survived that surprise attack with their guard down. If Yamcha had kept his guard up, he probably could’ve done well against the remaining saibamen.
Yeah early DB was primarily a comedy anyway so some goofs are expected, but otherwise he was always a respectable and strong person. But somehow the thing ppl took away from his character is that he's a loser that even the ppl he's been with since near the franchise's start just kinda tolerate his existence at this point. So weird. And even the cheating thing, very odd considering if anything, Bulma was the most likely one to cheat. Iirc, she was lusting after Blue while still dating Yamcha during that battle lol. She was kinda wild back in her younger years, but again, primarily a comedy. Still, crazy to imagine the mostly wholesome dork that is Yamcha somehow beinh a worse boyfriend than Vegeta of all ppl. I actually wanted him as the final TOP team member after Buu eas left out, and i especially am even more annoyed at their decision to use Freeza after seeing how much of a role Roshi's relationship with his students came into play for his character in that arc. Yamcha is turtle school alumni too, but was shafted for lizard man's marketing power
Yamcha (and Tien, Chiaotzu and Krillin) could be relevant again if they made a side story about Pan going on an adventure, kind of going back to Dragonball's roots. Take the stakes down from universe-level threats. I'm pretty sure you've mentioned an idea like that once or twice, come to think of it
They could also go the Super Hero route, and just...not have the Saiyans in the story for a bit. Let the humans figure out how to handle a threat without their heavy hitters. Let them develop from this experience. Show us that Earth's heroes aren't just the aliens, the humans are to be respected too.
I agree Yamcha is to laughed up in the Dragonball fandom and is underrated. I would like to see Yamcha open up his own martial arts called the Wolf School where trains students in the Wolf Style Martial Arts that would be a prefect way to show Yamcha’s legacy.
A nice twist to that would be to have several students from his school turn out to be incredibly powerful, primarily due to his training. And because of Yamcha, it turns out that most humans have the capacity to become strong like the Siayans. A couple of generations later, and humanity itself has grown much stronger. They are no longer helpless against villainous threats, and can fight to defend their own home, not having to rely on the aliens to protect them. And Yamcha was the one who started that. Imagine Jiren descending upon Earth, having been training in the time chamber for 10,000,000 years, deciding that he wants to take his vengeance. He's greeted by a group of 5 humans. And they use the Wolf Style martial arts to dominate him. By this point, nobody even bothers with the Kamehameha. It's old news and it's been power crept by the superior form of martial arts that evolved from Yamcha's Wolf Fang Fist. It allows fighters to take on opponents who are on paper much stronger than them. Turns out, that Wolf Fang Fist was a bit more special than we all thought. The descendants of Goku and Vegeta are still around, but they're kinda just normal people in the midst of this superhuman society. They're stronger than their ancestors too, but so is the rest of humanity. Beerus comes around wanting to destroy Earth, but his Hakai has no effect. The collective increased power of humanity has shielded the Earth. Human fighters beat the crap out of Beerus, and send him off as a crying sniveling mess. Even Whis dares not to mess with humanity. A couple million generations later, and even Xeno is wary of the Grand Human Omniversal Empire. With beings strong enough to resist his power, Xeno has to actually learn to be diplomatic. Humanity continues to ascend into greater powers, and greater and greater gods are forced to respect them. What can I say? I like pro-human stories.
@Torin Lupo It could work if the schools are complete opposites. Tien runs a very traditional martial school in the mountains and Yamaha can just rent/buy a gym and train people in a more modern way.
I'm actually really glad that you gave yamcha some more screen time in Revelation F because his character is actually very witty and charming, as well as being the voice of reason about maybe running away from some fights other than just throwing yourself headlong at a problem waiting for the wall to break. Granted usually when that happens the wall does break and they manage to do whatever they're trying to do but it would be nice for someone like yamcha to be taken seriously
I like how DBFZ throws him a bone by not only having him able to defeat everyone else like the rest of the cast, but he gets redeemed from the crater moment by turning the tables and putting Nappa there in his place.
Hell, Freiza of ALL people even compliments him and calls him handsome in one of the FighterZ story interactions. ...Which considering the DB Heroes anime Yamcha also accidently earned the affections of a non-earthling, I honestly now wonder if he genuinely has better luck in terms of romance beyond earth and even universe 7
I always say that Yamcha deserves better. He has so much potential not only as a fighter, but also as a character as well. The only thing he had RECENTLY that gave me a smile was during the Moro arc… That’s about it… 😢
Yamcha really does deserve better! He's been one of my favorite characters of the main cast for quite a while, yet everyone always remembers him for That Pose. Honestly, I would like to see a What If idea on what if Yamcha keeps his confidence from the 21st World's Martial Arts Tournament and kept improving himself and figuring out how to avoid the pitfalls canon Yamcha fell into. On a side note, I might have a bias to him since Wolf Fang Fist has saved the game several times when I use his Transphere in DB Breakers, especially against Perfect Cell, but he needs more time in the spotlight.
The kicker is that Yamcha did not even cheat on Bulma there's a little to no evidence of him cheating on her.. there's more evidence to suggest that it was the other way.. especially on how she is very flirty with other men even before Vegeta came into the picture.
Krillin's deaths amount to 5: 1. His death against Tambourine 2. His death against Frieza 3. His death to Super Buu 4. His death to Hell Fighter 17 (if you count GT) 5. His final natural death that took place between the defeat of Omega Shenron and the 100 year timeskip at the end of GT.
@@VJ87G Define canon. I don't care about that "it wasn't canon" BS. To me it was canon unto itself. That is good enough for me. It came from Toei, it was at least acknowledged by Akira Toriyama, and it wasn't just some promotional anime with short episodes like Heroes. To me, this makes GT canon enough.
My favorite depiction of Yamcha is from DragonBall Multiverse where he comes from a timeline where Krillin grew to become the next Master Roshi while Yamacha kept his youth but because he became an android
Tenshin Han was trained on a Anti-Turtle school style so he winning against Yamcha wasn't that much of a surprise, but if you think about it Yamcha did punch Tenshin Han a lot... was one of the best fights in my opinion. Yamcha loosing against Kami wasn't that bad too because the man is literaly god in a time where Saiyans didn't exist.
There’s also a cool moment for him when he and others try to attack Cell from behind in the anime version of the Cell vs Gohan beam struggle. I thought his monologue on he loves Goku and Gohan was very touching.
Both Yamcha and Krillin got wins in their last battles in the Super manga. In DBS chapter 57 Krillin had an very underrated battle against that Kong Fu Panda dude and in Chapter 56 Yamcha actually won a battle. So we can see Toyotaro does try to make an effort in making Yamcha relevant. However I do think Yamcha as a character just needs to be occupied doing other things for his character to not be a ruining joke. For example have him finally settle down, find a wife and start a family or have him join the Galactic Patrol on a permanent basis and have him train with Merus or something. Little things like this would change the comedic narrative of Yamcha imo
I'd love to see Yamcha go on a journey of self-discovery. Whether he goes back to the desert, or another planet. Somewhere harsh where he's got to really struggle to survive. He could start out with his turtle gi, but by the end of it I'd want him to realise he's not a turtle - he's a wolf.
I always loved Yamacha, he is just a fun character. Confident and passionate about fighting, even if he loses a lot, he gets back up. Especially during Cell Saga, all the Z-Fighters are motivated by Goku and especially thanked Goku for making him more than a Bandit. Plus Tien and Yamacha have such a bromance.
Honestly, going back to the start of Z, after combing through bits of Dragon Ball filler where Yamcha would interact with other girls after conquering his fear... it feels as though the breakup is less about any actual infidelity on Yamcha's part, and is moreso the result of Bulma jumping to conclusions and refusing to budge on her assumptions, leading to friction between the two. That would have been an interesting angle to take, and feels in character for the pair of them, but rather than attempt to tackle the subject in any meaningful manner, Toriyama shows just how weak he is at writing relationships in any kind of competent manner and torpedoes the pairing with a "Yamcha's a cheater, lol" and that's it. It is _profoundly_ disappointing.
I had this theory in my head for awhile but this video really helps cement the idea that if Toyotaro Wills it Yamcha could be the one who trains Trunks how to use a sword since no one really taught Future Trunks. It makes alot of sense that the only person Trunks would know who could teach him a Sword Style would be the Former Bandit who we see in DB use multiple weapons hell Goten can get trained by Yamcha to use staffs so we can bring back the good ol' power pole. Plus if Toriyama and Shueshia isn't paying too close of attention Yamcha weapon training Goten and Trunks would be a cool sub-story to explore.
I started rewatching DBZ and Yamcha's decline really started in the Android saga. He kept up with everyone on King Kai's planet, but when Vegeta came back to Earth, he spends a lot of time resenting him for his strength and resilience instead of training himself. There was even a point where he tried using the same gravity machine to prove he could one up Vegeta and almost dies. As a result, he isn't strong enough to resist Dr Gero absorbing his energy and becomes a support character from there
Okay so the Yamcha is cheating thing feels like it's referencing a scene in the original Dragon Ball where, because a fan club was starting to form around Yamcha Bulma was getting jealous of and angry towards Yamcha because of all the girls giving him attention, even though Yamcha never returned the attention. A thief set out to steal the group's dragon balls and so she disguised herself as a fortune teller, lured Yamcha away to tell his fortune, and then attack him, while they were fighting Bulma saw him holding her but not the fact she was holding a sword, and the angle she saw them made her think they were kissing. Bulma would later slap Yamcha and break up with him, not letting him explain. Given the writer, I am willing to put money down that Toriyama just forget about the part where Yamcha cheating was a misunderstanding and thought he'd already cheated before.
That just says Toriyama's too stuck in his ways honestly. Old people (especially in Japan) are obsessed with traditions. It's like religion for them. Meanwhile, the younger Toyotaro clearly gets what fans want and *tries* to act accordingly. At least he gave Yamcha more redemption than what Tien got in that arc. 🤦♂
I mean DB Heroes gave him a win not to long ago with him saving Female warrior in Black (that's what the wiki called her) from being offed by Hit and he manged to impress her to the point she referred to him as Darling, if that's not a win i don't know what is.
Yamcha is my favorite Dragonball character and it's because of this DBZ fan-manga called "Dragonball: Elsewhere" which, funnily enough, was my real first introduction to the world of dragonball and I highly recommend it to Yamcha fans, but really any fan of dragonball. It focuses on Yamcha it gives him great characterization and expands on his backstory. It's amazing and was the spark for my love of Dragonball as a whole!
What happened to him in the future? If I recall, Gohan wrote a book on Ki control while the other human fighters started dojos to train the influx of potential fighters, but did that include Yamcha? Did he not become a master?
Thing about Yamcha is… he’s endearing at least. He may be the weakest of the strong, but at least Yamcha is entertaining. He keeps your attention. We enjoy him. Now look at Tien.
@@dotjpg7783 ignoring "I've beem training in secret", it makes sense. What he lacks in the raw power of his students these days, he's still got techniques and knowledge they don't that ended up coming in handy. And we got nice scenes between him and Goku, and the manga version also treated him well from what i hear unlike how it did Krillin and Tien. My gripe is, them having the perfect opportunity to help raise up Yamcha a bit but instead opting to just revive Freeza. AGAIN.
Also worth noting that the Spirit Ball is genuinely a pretty cool technique. Having a remote controlled ki blast that you can use to fake out the opponent and set up ambushes could have some really cool uses if they gave him more fair matchups.
One of my favorite scenes with Yamcha was from the anime where he trains in the middle of the night for the 21st Budokai. It still holds up in the animation department.
Wait... I just realized something. You know how it's been stated that Goku and Vegeta keep their youth for longer because it is a sayan trait? Or how Bulma uses the Dragon Balls to help her maintain hers? ... What about Yamcha? He still looks pretty youthful and vigorous to me. Definitely older then Goku too. Also doesn't really have any say in using Dragon Balls for such things.
Only thing Yamcha did to 'cheat' was that he trained too much and spent more time with 'lady' Martial Arts. As well as probably enjoying the city life and being happy he can actually LOOK at girls without running away like a scared Yajirobe. Ironically, Bulma then dated and later married a guy who did just that.
Plus what seems to be forgotten and though it may not be a big deal by the time Z comes around. Yamcha was the next person after Goku to successfully use the Kamehameha. Which at the time of Dragonball, was still an impressive feat.
Yamcha main in DBfighterz. I love his presentation in that game. Even in the story. he has little confidence in himself but still throws down because he has to. Also his reasoning that RR cloning him must mean that they find worth in his skill and the other Z fighters believe he has potential if he'd just keep up with his training
I even have a personal narrative for my Xenoverse character where he comes from a timeline where Yamcha became a legendary martial artist starting a new wolf school that rivals both turtle and crane school. Pretty much competing with Tien and Krillin who took over as masters of those respective schools. "Turtle style teaches patience. Crane preaches precision. But the wolf is about all out aggression, give your opponents no room to breatje or strategize"
King Kai: If you want me to train you, you must first make me laugh. Yamcha: Come on, I'm a serious fighter! King Kai: HAHAHAHAHA! Yamcha: I've succeeded and yet I feel like I've failed...
One of my favorites things in the dragon ball fandom is Android Yamcha. I saw it for the first time in Dragon Ball Multiverse, and then in one of your what if. So cool, so much potential.
Yamcha: So you think that I'm a loser? Just because I lost Bulma to Vegeta? That writers love to torment me for the sake of a joke? That the whole fandom won't let me forget the Saibaman incident? Well, that may mean loser to you but let me tell you something. Every morning when I wake up, I know it's not going to get any better until I go to sleep again. So, I get out of my empty bed, go and have breakfast, get in my car and drive by countless Capsule Corp signs reminding me what I lost along the way, just to enjoy the privilege of seeing my ex being married with children to the guy who caused my demise. I'll never be a major player in the story like in the old days, I'll never be seen as competent among my friends again, and I'll never enjoy the simple thrill of actually being relevant to the series again. But I am not a loser. Because despite it all, me and every other formerly relevant character who was demoted to comic relief, are still out there taking whatever our universe throws at us because the show must go on. And the fact that I haven't completely vanished from the series, you miserable memers, makes me a winner!
Ted Cole made Yamcha a complete badass in the ocean dub! When he stepped onto the scene, I believed he could whoop anyone after that Saibaman! None of us saw that self destruct coming.
It would be cool to see Yamcha train with the Z-sword under Kaioshin. He used to be a very skilled swordfighter after all so it would fit him. Humans should train under the Kaioshins. Their last teacher was King Kai so it's a natural step and it would give both the humans and the Kaiohsins, who have been doing nothing for a while, a chance to shine. They should all have their potential uncloked as well, especially Yamcha,Tien and Chiaotzu as unlike Krillin they never had that chance.
I feel like yamcha could have been a glass cannon character. Make him so incredibly fast that you can’t react to him and have to predict his movements and due to his way of fighting being very unique in the way he and could get a power boost with whatever the hell that wolf power was very simple I can think of several scenes that would be incredibly entertaining and I thought that up in a couple minutes while they have had years seriously how In the world are they this lazy
Every time when something almost good happens to Yamcha he gets the rug pulled out from under him. It's really frustrating but at least there's a sizeable group of fans who will give him what he truly deserves (Masakox included).
Funny how you say Goku was bland in the first arc of DB, when I actually found his fish out of the water routine more tolerable there. After that it started to get more and more grating due to him asking what something was every 5 minutes. As for Yamcha, I always felt like Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho is what you got if Yamcha could consistently win but it was always a close call.
I head canoned that yamcha ends up hooking up with launch. And they both work as space bodyguards. But eventually Yamcha discovers some form of "space baseball" where everyone is a super powered alien, putting his skills to the test. And possibly some big arc where he has to clean up the sport from all of its corruption.
At least he has his fans. There are even some decent stories that use him in fun/interesting ways, like Bloodlines, Db Multiverse, Elsewhere, Kakumei, and DB Shokan.
When I was younger, Yamcha was my favorite character. The reasoning? Well, out of all of the human fighters, he was the most normal. What I mean is that Krillin has no nose, Tien has the third eye. Yamcha I could relate to due to him having normal features.
What if Yamcha took on an apprentice? In this scenario, an OC would find and approach Yamcha asking him to teach them all that he knows about combat. When Yamcha asks why he and not someone like Goku the OC would answer that after watching Yamcha's older fights via "archived footage" they just thought Yamcha's fighting style looked the coolest. With the Wolf Fang Fist being their favorite move of his. Yamcha would agree to mentor the OC and in time they would go on to be one of Earth's most powerful humans. Allowing Yamcha to finally say 'Yeah, I did that.".
Not that I completely agree with the idea but were I think the logic is coming from is the reason Yamcha was a desert bandit to begin with was because interest by female(s) in cities and towns drove him to that. I mean Yamcha as has been pointed out was strong, as a result fit and shown to have a caring side so its not unthinkable. Once that was resolved with the help of Bulma, the interest by other females was still there and because Yamcha enjoyed basking in that attention ended up in situations he may not have intended. I remember being a bit surprised we didn't end up with Gohan having similar issues come about with Erasa. With the explanation being because he grew up in the countryside he would end up underdeveloped on handling female relationships.
So does this video hint that we may get a tride and true "What if Yamcha and Bulma never broke up"? It would be interesting to see. A What if where the two stay together, Trunks possibly either doesn't exist or is fully human, and to see if Vegeta can adapt to earth life without having someone to mate with.
The biggest problem with Yamcha is that despite having a ki attack of his own, which is rather unique I may add, his ultimate attack is… a barrage of punches and kicks. Which isn’t a good look when the most basic attack in dbz is a barrage of punches and kicks with a side of teleportation.
If there was some special property to it, then I think it could be cool. I like the idea of a martial arts technique being an ultimate attack, rather than just another ki blast. And let's be honest, most Ki attacks are just the same thing with different names, colors, and sometimes shape. It's rare in Dragon Ball to have truly unique ki attacks, like the Kienzan or Hellzone Grenade. Ki ends up being this super generic thing, despite the vast potential for it. One thing I appreciated about Gotenks was his super creative attacks. He creates semi-sentient ghost versions of himself that explode on contact. And his donut rings are a supreme form of restraining opponents. Even his volleyball attack was creative. Too bad he's kinda a wasted character then. He's treated more as a joke than anything, and that's a real shame. A character with such a creative moveset should not be left to the sidelines as a joke character. That one fan manga where Piccolo has to be the Great Siayaman for a day gave Gotenks more honor than his entire screentime in Z, and possibly in Super as well. In that story, he's still a comedic character, but he's also respected as a serious monster if you piss him off. His creative moves get their unique showcase too, like Vegeta being trapped by the donut even after Gotenks defuses. It also has Gotenks showing that he doesn't really care about Trunks and Goten, because they are not him, which is super interesting. More and more, I find that DB Fan Fiction is doing way better than what the canon has done.
@@ShadeSlayer1911 I agree on the ki statement, which is my philosophy on making Ki techniques. I have made a whole moveset for Frost that centers around converting his Ki into crystals that can absorb energy attacks, amplify them by constantly reflecting them within the gem, then firing that energy right back out.
@@ZeothTheHedgehog see?! More of that is great for dragon ball. Ki is its own magic system, even if it's technically not magic. You should be creative with it. Now that I think of it, tien had some creative moves too. His multiform and multi arm techniques were pretty cool. But of course, Goku just...doesnt care.
@@ShadeSlayer1911 Yeah. The more creative the technique, the more creative the fight you can make. Punching, kicking, Beams, and Ki blasts can only go so far.
8:20 I think the word Yamucha means something along the lines of being naughty. So Toriyama said "Yamucha's a Yamucha" or "Hey, Yamucha's gonna be Yamucha 8:40 Bulma doesn't exactly have an ideal personality. To quote oolong, she's a fickle woman.
The biggest sick burn to Yamcha was the Resurrection of F Movie, as Then mentioned he didn't want Chaosu or Yamcha to be in danger. I was like "DAAAAAMMMMMMNNNN!!!!"
With his scars and mullet, early Z Yamcha was honestly so cool. There's no shame in being caught off guard by a saibamen; they were very strong adversaries at the time. People need to stop judging characters' strength by the overall series and focus on what they presented *at the time.* Him cheating on Bulma might have happened in a "moment of weakness" after overcoming his fear of girls, I can kinda see that happening, but as much as a "cool dude" as he is, he still doesn't seem like a sleezeball player. (He's only a baseball player! Lol.)
It would actually be interesting to see Yamcha become Roshi's apprentice as the next teacher of the turtle style. All the other fighters have had too many boosts to their skill to be able to really teach mere mortals, and it would make him a friendly rival to Tien.
I remember watching z after dragon ball and being really hyped to see yamcha grow. His Saiyan saga fights were dope and I was hoping him and tien would learn kaioken in otherworld but we all know what happened. It sucked to see him sink into obscurity and scrutiny. Super did him twice as dirty with the tournament of power jokes, hurt my soul seeing that play out ✊🏼☹️
considering the otherworld training invigoration yamcha had, I wouldn't be opposed to him being one of the first humans to unlock god ki, and then followed by Tein since he is the most keen of the humans to train. That why they wouldn't be so astronomically behind, and yamcha at least gets something, poor guy gets treated like dirt.
Yamcha could (should) have been saved by being the one to win the TOP not 17. Just say he learned how to make a shield. Everyone has attacks so he learned how to defend. Bam instant redemption.
I always thought yamcha could be the one to extend a hand to hercule and train him. He knows what it’s like to be a punchline pushed to the sidelines. Plus training the second richest person in the world would get him some much needed income. It’s a win win
I never got that meme of poor Yamcha. As a fan of the original pre-Z stuff, he had his place; he was the Sanosuke to Kenshin; the Kuwabara to Yusuke; but...power levels and nonsense ruined it. I did like the logic and he did nearly beat that one Saibaman before the mess that happened and I do hope he does have some sort of good conclusion eventually and not just thrown away/ignored...like Lunch...and too many others...
Give Yamcha a scene like Krillin, where he went up against Goku Blue and even held his own! just small epic moments like this is all we Yamcha fans want to see. Dragonball needs to come up with some concept to close the power gap between Humans and the rest. Piccolo gets free upgrades all the time, they invent one Saiyan transformation after the other. Do something for the OGs like Yamcha, Krillin and Tien
I think that if Goku happened by a desert hare before fighting Yamcha and losing to Goku would instill a rivalry with Goku. Bulma treats his half unconscious body and he loses his fear for girls there and then. He then travels with them instead of stalking them. After the first Saga Yamcha after 2 months of city life decides to go find Roshi and train with Goku. Bulma can do online classes so she packs up a capsule house and places it next to Roshi's. I would also put Chun-Roshi against Ramfan and make him have deal with his weakness for women or lose in the first round and fail his students.
At this point, I'd say Yamcha's biggest victories come from Attack of the Saiyans, like teaming up with Krillin and Tien to fight "Jackie Chun" in the first dungeon or avenging his old gang from the returning Monster Carrot
In the version of DBS that exists in my head, Yamcha is one of the fighters in that tournament. Here's how I would give Yamcha a good showing. One of the other universes - maybe the one where the fighters make you fall in love - has a fighter whose great power is, he projects a belief that you can't beat him. That makes him absolutely devastating even to fighters much stronger than him. So when he takes on Goku, Goku's losing to him and at real risk of being eliminated ... and Yamcha steps in. This fighter uses his power full-tilt on Yamcha, but it's not stopping him, because Yamcha ALWAYS expects to lose, but he still gives it his all anyway. That allows him to beat this fighter that even Goku couldn't (as Whis smiles knowingly from the stands). Afterwards, Goku and Yamcha have a nice moment, where Goku says he knows he can always count on Yamcha, and Yamcha says it's nice to save Goku for once. Then some other fighter knocks Yamcha out in one shot, because this is still Yamcha.
What if, in the 100 year time skip from the epilogue of GT, Krillin became the master of the Turtle school to carry on from Master Roshi? He's long lived, not immortal, but we don't really know how long he's got left. What if Krillin underwent the same ritual Roshi did to become long-lived? How long will Lazuli live? Do her cybernetic implants give her increased lifespan? WOuld Krillin do anything to stay with her for years longer?
