WHY YOU DON'T BUY BOOTLEG GUNDAM | DM Destiny 

I'm buying more and more 3rd party kits these days, as Bandai releases more and more in P-Bandai. The price differences are so big, I think it's worth the trouble.

Imo, Bandai should put bootleg Gunpla in their Build series, just to flex on how superior their models are haha

Not all bootlegs are all bad. Super nova Heavy arms was great to build.

If you dont have enough money to buy a bandai kits. Then save it first.then if its enough, then go buy the original kits. Simple as that

I don't consider Mechanicore as bootleg, Because they make it more unique and they just make reference of the model, and quess what they are not cheap.

I bought bootleg and bandai version. The original for me, the bootleg for my kid. Haha.. he can destroy that bootleg ( i build it first of course) it is cheaper way than let him play with my bandai gunpla.

I was thinking to buy bootleg to customize and use the parts for the original bandai kits. Like more extra guns and additional armor plating etc. As long as you can paint it and not use those with complicated joints I think it'll work.

Seems like a lot of people swear off third party/bootleg kits and people who buy them simply because they feel they are defending Bandai's honor or something. I am a novice in this hobby and haven't even been building for a year. I don't do anything fancy, I straight build, add detailing and panel lines, as well as decals and I clean up nubs and such and some of these "bootleg" kits are sometimes as good, or somewhat better than their counterparts. I've built the Supernova Heavyarns, Altron, and currently working on the Dragon Momoko Out Frame and they have been wonderful to work on. More work needed? Meh, not really. On all 3 I have glued a few parts and had less than a handful of tight fits. Often, the plastic has been better in my eyes than Bandai as it is softer and cleans up with little effort, which is awesome for a basic builder like me. I have also built the MG Destiny and quite frankly, it sucks. It's not a stable kit, it has somewhat weak ankles, lacks meaningful detail and doesn't really look all that great. I understand that it is an older kit, but that does not make it exempt of being inferior to third party options. If given the option again, I'd get the DM over the MG without a second thought, but that is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.

No way I'm spending a fortune on metal builds... I'll happily buy the bootleg of those if needed

The only advantage bandai has is quality control. I'm surprised that ver.ka mastergrades aren't made fun of more since it's the odd one out.

Never had a bootleg before but I can ive had plenty of problems with my Bandai kits. Loose joints, and some kits specifically the sinanju rg the bicep exterior armor would not click into place.

I bought a dm tallgeese not realizing it was dm and when I started building it a part was missing so I couldn't finish the build so I just wasted 1000php for nothing

My first kit was a bootleg, followed by another three before I switched to Bandai. I will say that the quality is not even comparable, and had no problem with assembling them. However, after building tons of them I find the challenge of assembling those bootlegs to be... fun. Yes there are a ton of problems, but after the aching fingers, falling parts and fitting issues, the satisfaction that it brings me is just equal if not less when building an original gunpla. In conclusion, both are fun. But the other presents difficulty and a lot of frustration. It's up to us what to try and pass our verdict.

5:21 there is a reason why we cant if your short on money buy bootlegs but if your rich buy a bootleg to practice painting than thats what you need if you want to practice and customizing kits

Im an MG collector almost 100 mg Pbandai Mgs too expensive Blanche Regenes Nataku I quit for 6 or 7 yrs cos i got too much mgs I don't want my 2 storey house to be crowded for me to have mini gym space but I don't care about those details anymore or build quality as long as It looks good on display I'll buy hg boottles for just a fraction of an MG Bandai price (mg bandai price just doubled wtf) plus bootleg hgs have a lot of options and selections especially for hgbf but I'll be buying some cheap bandai hgs like moon gundam next week. I will just display them or keep them in th box for yrs so as long as I complete most of my collection ill be a lot happier

Like, I've seen, had, some pieces break from the runners during shipping, but never just not printed! That's madness. And now, theres no QC, they're dead.

Really enjoyed building official bandai kits and we are lucky here in the philippines we have pbandai online store in shopee so we get pbandai kits in their proper prices. I've bought many kits theres since its an official store and I will never support this online scalpers overpricing pbandai kits. I guess I'm one of the few people who are brave enough to start with official bandai products. I even started with the Zeta 2.0 as my very first MG kit hahaha. It was a good experience and I learned alot on that kit on how to properly build a gunpla and luckily I still have the kit with me and its still in good condition.

I wonder if i should buy the gundam red Astray Frame 1/100 for 900 peses in dollar its 18.56 dollars but the real price is 1250 pesos in dollar is 25.81 dollars and i saw the ratings and its good but the description said its bootleg/KO oh man....

Some of the builders want to try bootlegs because they want to test their skill and patience. I didn't build bootleg as of today but I want to try it in the near future.

if I could buy KO gunpla I would whole heartedly do so, at the end of the day, its just parts, and I love making parts to fill in gaps

I buy both Bootleg and Bandai Kits, all my HG's are from Bandai and all my MG's are bootleg kits. Buy whatever YOU want its your money spend it wherever. From personal experience Bootlegs are alot harder to build and around 40% of the parts you snap together from a bootleg kit need some modification for parts to fit, but at the end of the day its a Model Kit thats meant to be looked at. I PERSONALLY can't Justify paying $70 CAD just for a 6" Plastic model thats gonna sit in a case for most of its life, I just cant. My thought process is basically "Do I pay $70 For a kit or $20 for the same kit from a different brand that looks just as good." Everyone Just but what you want to buy dont let other people decide for you.

not bad to buy a bootleg specially if you want to experience on how to build a gunpla but I will always recommend to buy a good brand which is bandai I'm a gunpla collector too .. I collect bootleg 3rd party brands and bandai brands but in bootlegs I only buy the 1/100 and some selected 1/144 and in bandai I only buy the 1/144 cuz i cant afford those 1/100 of bandai. In addition, lets be happy of what we have happy building guys ❤️

I wouldn't say don't buy bootleg totally, coz for example MG kits that are not produced by bandai is worth the cheap price, like the Dragon Momoko MG sky grasper, MG Akatsuki, & MG Astray out frame D, & also the Daban Model Astray Mars Jacket. Don't point fingers nor blame others if you're one among millions of unlucky people who got their asses hit really bad by BAD LUCK, just saying! I am not unlucky enough like you getting unfinished parts in your runner. Coz I myself patronize Bandai, most of my kits are bandai, like 90%, . . . . and10% are bootleg kits not available in Bandai

If you are good enough to the point of opening commission I think anything that bootleg kits bring should be too much of a problem anymore. For example you said some parts are too tight and you force the parts together, why not just shave the plastic on the connector then thats what I do and not only to bootleg kits but also some Bandai kits as well to not have the trouble of plastic breaking when disassembling for paint. Sorry I just find this video to be uninformative and really really bias.

Bootleg kits are ONLY for skilled builders who wants to seek challenge. My gunpla collections are only bootleg kits, because Bandai doesn't give a damn care about market/price control which leads to skyrocketing price caused by resellers, and all my bootleg kits are in good condition and even playable. Also, if i switch to Bandai, there won't be anymore challenge to my skill. With so, people who swears off of bootleg kits definitely have massive skill issues, imagine failing on building bandai kit....OOF....definitely SKILL ISSUE.

Buying the MB, hirm and titanium finished is worth buying, but other than that I’ll stick to Bandai they just need to release more models

I’ll stick with Bandai. They’re stuff is a lot sturdier as far as I can see plus with MGs there’s bound to be a 2.0 with improvements with the chances on a MS that you like (like they did with the F91 and Freedom for me)

It really depends tho, i just build and paint a Daban Model PG banshee through the Lockdown period in SG, yeah i could agree that there are flaws but still i do gain experience on the kit and i do have fun tho😁

I like to buy Bl for cuztoms or just for fun cus there cheap since bandai has recently gotten more exepnsive with the p bandai especially in my country aka the (Philippines)

I have nothing, but ban dai MG and PG I purchase daban sazabi metallic coating and man it feels and looks just like my Bandai verka… the water decals were actually better, articulation is the same, it has the same issues (funnels). My second one was daban MB freedom and I just finished it is a solid build some parts didn’t fit well but a bit of sanding worked

Its more challenging than the bandai kits... More effort.... lower grade of plastic... Requires patience and creativity... If you want to level up your building skill dont let it stop you... The final product of any brands of kits are in the quality of builds and techniques...

These DM kits are two times more expensive than any bandai mg kits, DM kits are bad with so many parts that doesn't fit and you have to trim almost all of the parts and glue them.

Its meh. Lookswise its good. Buildquality and articulation its basically trash.

I build only MG and RG kits, HG just doesn't do it for me. I bought two bootleg kits because I liked the aesthetics more than the original bandai versions. I encountered no problems with them. I will soon get the other 3 kits from that line, I hear they're even better than the first two releases. I guess my point is, you shouldn't issue a blanket judgement on all bootleg kits with only one sample. A bootleg kit will never match the quality of a bandai kit, that's why it's cheaper, so it's not a fair comparison. I concede that there are some crap quality bootleg kits out there, those should be avoided. There are plenty of people who review bootleg kits. If you do your research and buy only from certain brands I bet you'll get your money's worth.

im searching this kit the OG one cost abou 500usd shez and this also cost now about 200usd nahh Gundam destiny is my all time favorite Gundam i have the MG destiny og one but i broke it

I'll admit I've bought 14 bootleg kits (6 of them I didn't know were bootlegs until I received them), and of the 14 only 3 were decent. Thankfully 99.9% of my gunpla is officially Bandai. Also, you mentioned you do comission builds. What do you charge & do you do custom builds for commission?

for me 3rd party is for the more experience builder . i mean i build all kind of modal you name it , bandai , mc , daban , dm , supernova . from my point of view every brand have its own flaw . even bandai have gap,fitting issue even mold defect . especially their rg so loose . my delta kai bandai really loose overtime but like i said its more to the builder , how they manage the assembling process . in the end of the day its your own money . spend it at whatever brand you want as long as your happy and know what you buying .

They could fix the problem. But you know what is the real problem here? The original one will lose profit once they fix the kits. So this fixing is a huge no no.

I wanted to buy to buy bandai or even p-bandai but my budget is limited. I i find it not worth the money. I invested on more tools so that i can properly build 3rd party kits. For me the additional building experience is challenging and is part of the building process.

Well, I on the other hand are getting bored of kotobukiya and Bandai kit after numerous hg,rg,mg,pg and metal build now I just looking into bootleg just because of their look lol 😂

I like tough challenges from bootlegs kits because easy to assemble kits is kinda boring after all these years,i had this missing parts problem too with bootlegs but i just scratchbuild one using plaplates and leftover runners and it works just as fine,for me bootlegs teachs me how to think outside of the boxes, teachs me to stop complaining instead improvise and fix any problems that comes with it

WHY YOU *SHOULD* BUY BOOTLEG GUNDAM? Answer: Replacement parts. If you're outside Japan then you're SOL. Bandai doesn't acknowledge their international costumers. To add insult to injury, you have to shoulder the tax too.

Its kinda funny ive had better luck then ive had with bandai from fit to durability. So far (knock on wood) i have yet to brake a knock off. Sadly cant say the same for my bandai kits RIP Akatsuki :(..... As for kits that drop and shatter, i mean it dosent matter the brand since that happen (again rest in peace bandai mg unicorn) I just actual ordered the DM metal build strike freedom with all the affect parts and i cant wait for it. Would i like the bandai metal build? Yes. That said it about 500- 900 bucks (most in my area for a new one is about 800) compaired to the DM for 150. I mean for 650 less and the great reviews on it. I mean that cant be beat. Add in things that bandai wont make or wont make for another 15 to 20 years (mg testament, mg outer frame mg Akatsuki, and so on) third party is one of the only ways to get these kits that we want. I mean i get what your saying but ever brand has its ups and downs. I mean ive had problems with bandai many times with poor quality broken parts in the box and as much as you dont think it happens with bandai it dose. Slip ups happen.

Daban/hongli will never be really gone imo, look at them now they just shift to transformers for a moment and then come back to gunpla with different name or no brand whatsoever, they are like cockroach they never really die just laying low and come back with something as always As casual collector for toys, figure, model kits and transformers i really don't mind ko/bootleg especially transformers many of ko brand transformers is superior to hasbro i i don't mind them at all

I can say you can buy BL kits when : It has Diffirent and unreleased design on bandai (ex. DM Testament etc.) For curiousity... (tried a DM Mg Banshee not that bad but transformation is a nightmare... well its BL so its understandable) Painting practicing..... After the DM Banshee I always stick to Bandai because its less hassle and I dont really customize my kits (I paint it for color corrections only) I only wabt to buid them and display them and sometimes play with it.
