In this video, I am sharing my practical tips to help you get the most out of reading The Artist's Way!
For years, I've been meaning to read The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. At the beginning of 2023, I finally set aside the time to read the book and follow along with the workbook. This book has given me a lot more confidence as an artist, helped me get out of my cozy introverted ways and explore more, while also helping me overcome my self-doubt. I encourage any artist out there to take the plunge and read this book!

Yes. The artists way is timeless. It is also perfect to reread over and over in smaller bits at a time.

I’ve been doing a group read through with my aunt and cousins! We’re on week 6 right now. This is a truly inspiring book - great for anyone, not only creatives!

Week 12 just started! Although I am a little behind with some of the final tasks, it’s been an incredible journey full of synchronicity! It’s not only helped me believe in my creative self, but made me aware of opportunities, and the power of manifesting! The chapter on letting go of perfectionism really resonated with me, and while I still have work to do I know I’m on the right track! Great video Jaclyn 😊

How wonderful to be on the last week! So exciting! Isn't it just a lovely course? I so enjoyed it and it makes me happy to hear you have gotten so much out of it too. Letting go of perfectionism is a really good one for sure. But mostly just getting us to believe in ourselves is one of my favorite parts of the whole book!! Maybe you got this comment before. If not: Your sound is very low. I had to turn up both the youtube volume and the volume on my laptop to max to be able to hear you normally. Sound editing/ leveling can be tricky but I find it worth looking into. I really liked this video and am looking forward to more : )

I have gotten this comment before on another video, so I learned how to go about editing the sound/volume of my videos (you're right, it can be tricky, but I'm learning). I've heard a lot about this "Artist's Way" as a creativity motivation course, and I may take a look at it someday, although I'm not that much of a book/course learner. I'm actually more of a "messing around and winging it" learner. If you don't believe me, you can ask Betty Edwards, the author of two "Drawing from the..." books which I bought, skimmed and set aside. (Well I guess you can't really ask HER how I did with her book, but wouldn't that be interesting if the author of a course could keep tabs on how each reader did with it?) Anyway, I wanted to mention another artist whom you remind me of besides my first-ever art teacher - an American expat RU-vidr in Scotland named Sarah Burns. You and she share outdoorsy aesthetics, and you both seem to live in idyllic Bob Ross surroundings, where you can each drive ten miles from home, hike a little ways and find a perfect plein air setting to paint. In fact, I'm going to inspo off some of your outdoor screenshots from this video and see what I can come up with in this Rebelle painting software I'm trying out.

Oh my goodness thank you for your kind words!! That is a huge compliment saying I’m similar to Sarah Burns - I follow her channels too! Love what she does! I feel very grateful to live where I do - I’ve traveled so much for work it’s nice to finally pick a place and stay. Lol. I’m a little farther from the mountains from where I live, but it’s still amazing to drive an hour+ and be in the mountains! I’m so glad you’ll screenshot some of the landscapes and create from them!!! If you want you can send me photos of it over on IG! I’d love to see what you create 🙌🏼

Yes, finally someone who understands me! I can totally relate to the 'going out by myself omg noooo' feeling haha. The part where you mentioned how you used to be courageous and then it somehow dwindled hit home really hard! Fastest subscribe ever. I've been interested in doing the course for a long time, just never quite jumped in yet. I plan quarterly so I'm definitely picking this up to do in Q2. I already journal everyday, but I think morning pages is slightly different. As someone who's super busy and always puts creative stuff to the backburner, I'm particularly interested in having guilt free artist dates. I feel like that may be the missing piece in my journey back to my creativity. I'm so looking forward to it! Thank you for the wonderful video!

The workbook has space for the exercises but not the morning pages. I just did both in a journal 🙌🏼

I’m just about to start week 12 of my morning pages. I started the exercises but my step dad got very ill and recently passed away so I was unable to keep up with it. I’d like to start them again soon 😊
