Great video but you should really mention that the Hero 7 isn't usable with ReelSteady Go without a great softmount on a drone. Buying a Hero6 makes more sense than a 7.
Great quality video, but not mentioning the whole softmounting realsteady go problem is quite a fail. Imagine someone buying a 7 and finding out after the fact for what kind of shitfuckerry they are in for...
@@ivantran3420 I'm waiting for some parts too for a new build. Also waiting for a cinewhoop! Excited to go out and fly once the weather clears up here :)
you have to remember when using the old batteries in the new GoPro some of the higher HyperSmooth settings cant be used because the batteries don't put out enough voltage. This is from raw memory, it could be slightly inaccurate but definitely something to consider and do some more research about. I have a hero 8 and its great, I brought it in water though and it shorted out. GoPro replaced it but i'm never not using a waterproof case on it. (not that you'd by flying in water, but if you do want to use it in the water id use an additional case to protect your $400 investment)
Great Video. Another thing to maybe mention is GoPro Plus where you can get your GoPro replaced 2 times per year. It costs about 50 Euros if you pay it yearly. You also get unlimited cloud storage for your videos.
Yeah, but GoPro charges you 70$ to replace the camera, i cracked my hero 8 lens on the top, you can't see it in video, but wanted to replace it anyways. They told me they had a 70$ processing fee. So I just super glued the crack to make it more watertight
*subbed* much love from Vancouver Canada 🇨🇦 I just got the hero 7 for my birthday and I love it, it’s my 2nd one, and I can’t wait 😊 honestly super excited to learn how to add it to a quad, I know nothing but it’s exciting
1:19 insta 360 is a misleading brand name, because the "go" model isn't actually a 360 camera. I thought it was too at first, but it's actually a single lens with a 180 fov and a "flow state" stabilization option that keeps the horizon level regardless of camera orientation. I've had it saved for when my current action cam inevitably breaks.
With the Hero8, you can have it replaced with no questions asked if you’re subscribed to GoPro’s PLUS program, which also gives you a discount on items on the GoPro website. It’s ~$50 for the year and can actually save you money if you have no GoPro accessories and intend to load yourself up to the gills with them when buying the Hero8. So far I’ve bought enough to save close to $100 since the PLUS subscription also applies to the Hero8 when you purchase it.
I shattered my Hero8 lens within 2 weeks. Sent it in for a replacement with the GoPro Plus program over a month ago and in still waiting for a "new" one. Save yourself the hassle and just pick up a Hero7 or one of the other options if you're flying freestyle.
Small thing. It’s actually 100 MegaBits per second not MegaBytes per second. They are often confused but it would be a huge difference in data size. Still nice video 👍
I have a GoPro hero 6 naked and I would like take a hero 8 to trasform it in naked. With 6 I had to downgrade firmware to work correctly with ReelSteady. Which version firmware I must have in hero8 before trasform it in naked and works good with ReelSteady?
Is it true that hero8 freezes sometimes? Many have said that the software freezes. Nice video anyway! I just bought an Osmo pocket and am printing a stand so I can shoot with Mavic:)
Hi Matt (and everyone who reads this comment) enjoying all your videos thank you, i have ordered a nazgul 5 4s with all the bits recommended in your videos so looking forward to that (would not of had a clue if not for your videos) being here in England there is not too much in the way of racing drone suppliers i don't think its really caught on yet over here (if i am wrong someone please correct me) do you dabble much in the betaflight app ? apparently the nazgul does not come in fly mode ? I will need to look into all this too soooo much learning but i am enjoying it & getting better with sim practice although i get very frustrated and impatient a lot at times ! I just got a hero 8 and non replaceable lenses is definitely a step backward but if you do not damage your camera its great ! Think i will use my hero 5 on the nazgul and stabilize in post (it will have to be some stabilizer with my learning though !) Thanks again Matt & keep up the good work its appreciated :D
@@ryanjones6837 not for a few months been getting into on the ground videos but shall return when found new spots, usually kent East sussex areas, you ?
HIII, going to buy the Nazgul5 V2 6S drone and a TX16S reciever, wondering which type of reciever that works best with TX16S that I should choose on the drone and why? :)) any help is appreciated
I got the hero 8. It might be better in low lights and I can film lapses then in the winter here up north 69 degrees comes. I also got a 2 year insurance on it for when I break it, it cost about 65 USD. I broke my hero 7 last fall and it really saved me money. Just because I could option for a insurance is the whole reason I now got the 8, could I not have any insurance I would have chosen the 7.
You dont really notice a difference with real steady in the Labs update I've been testing it you still have to readjust your set point to smoother sections
Hey man, loved the video. I’m having issues with the 8 and reelsteady in 24p. Getting lots of glitches. Is that something that is common on the 8? Thanks man!
As good as GoPro is, the cost isn’t really justified for fpv flying, when you consider the fact that you could crash and destroy your quad, and also your camera. Plus there’s the form factor, it’s so big and bulky and causes a lot of drag, limiting your speed , that’s why a session is better, but now that GoPro has discontinued it, you’re not left with many options. As a replacement for the session, I’d go with a runcam5 orange, maybe not as good, especially the sound, but so much cheaper and still great video quality.
I got the H8 and so far the only backup I'd have in the event of smashing it against a tree would be a runcam 5. But im considering getting a H7 because of the ND/lens accessibility and the price to re buy it (btw, the weight of the h8 an easily be lowered by 7.5 g when the mounting fingers are removed). But even though they are stunning little cameras, the weight, the form-factor and the price is still not even close to a runcam 5 which, in my opinion, is still a fairly descent camera and the only "big" thing missing is stabilization. very nice video
Matt Pochwat Exceptionally good. Super stabilisation, excellent video quality and tough as old boots. The only downside is it doesn’t’ take have Remote control unless you use the app on a phone or use voice commands. The latter is fine at a few feet but not at the end of a three metre pole!
TOO LATE... I bought a hero 8 back a few years ago for riding around on my mountain bike and various content stuff. good camera. but that was before I knew FPV even existed. now I really want the drones that carries the SMO360, the 360 degree one, and the drone is invisible in the footage. its the Pavo360 and I really bet I can get it to pay itself off by selling 360 flythrough of real-estate... I already have a good hookup for taking high altitude real-estate pics. I'm going to make this hobby pay for itself, unlike drumming. >:/
People if you're truly just starting out and you can't fly yet don't put a damn expensive go pro on your quad okay...you're just going to break it. Smh
