In this video I briefly wanted to address that we need more young people to become Pesticide Applicators.
The current demographic that are Pesticide applicators are aging. This will leave a massive void in the market place that will open up a massive amount of opportunity for younger people who get into this industry.
Take Care.

You mentioned that the larger companies are driving prices down. I was thinking of getting started with my own business by undercutting the bigger companies. Would you do a video about pricing? I have a 1/3 acre lot with about 9000sqft of lawn. Currently the franchise companies that I've hired (here in Utah) charge me $90 (every 3 weeks) for a mosquito treatment with a backpack sprayer, and a generic weed and feed treatment costs me $145. I felt that was pricey for the 15 minutes they spend spraying my yard. Thanks! Really glad I found your channel!

I can do a video on Mosquito Control pricing. For context, my base application is $89.00 per application and it's on a 3 week cycle. Someone in a local Facebook group called a national chain and me for quotes. I was double the price of the national chain... but, there is no way I would be profitable charging $45 per application. I would highly discourage undercutting as a tactic. A race to the bottom is a race where no one wins.

Also, I'm glad you found the channel too! If you have any other topics you want me to touch on, let me know. I'm always open to suggestions.

@@ElevateApplicate I agree. Thank you so much for sharing. I’m attempting to switch careers from software engineering to starting a business in pest and lawn 😅 I have a lot of catching up to do without having previous knowledge and experience. I’ll definitely have many video ideas for ya haha

im a commercial technician who works under an applicator but i spray every day, primarily weed control+ also soil aeration i see what your saying, barely any young dudes in this industry. only me and 2 others are in there 20's where i work. i can see why its not popular though the pay sucks and its very hard work atleast in my experience so idk, maybe i should start my own business in it lol

I am not sure where you work or what state you are in, but pay definitely varies state to state. Here in Michigan for lawn Technicians I believe the standard pay rate is really close to $20/hr. You can find opportunities that pay better. In my own company we have a hybrid model of hourly vs commission. We pay whichever is greater to our techs. Generally if my techs are hitting commission pay they are making $28-$40/hour. Starting your own business can be very advantageous. It doesn't come without its headaches.

Are you studying to become a Certified Pesticide Applicator? If so, this RU-vid series is what I would watch. Also, the Michigan adendum should be studied (it's all of our local state laws).
