Lots to unpack here. Properties? Standing water? Rain? What was treated? How much property do they have? Did a hatch occur? Was a sticker used? We have had callbacks that were completely unwarranted. I did an arm test for 30 minutes during peak activity and saw 3 mosquitoes in 30 minutes. They had a larger property and about a quarter acre pond as a breeding ground. Call out the call backs. Also, a hatch could have very well occurred after application. In this instance, I tell clients to wait a few days as the newly hatched mosquitoes will need time to come into contact with the insecticide.
Too bad it’s not for warm season turf. I would order one immediately. I am one of those continually looking for informative resources and up to date guides and publications.
Yeah, but I'm sure some Florida universities have some awesome warm season literature. There is warm season turf information, just that does not seem to be the focus.
That's a great question. My business brain says that is sales and marketing. Maybe you can't sell monthly or bi monthly but you can sell quarterly based on their budget. It also might be related to the insect issues they have.
Most insecticides are safe for people and pets once dry. Both Talstar P and Scion have this statement on the label. It's a different story with cats because cats are sensitive to pyretheoid insecticides.
Ok, so the question that is on this section on the practice exam says: It is not necessary to carry a spill kit when transporting pesticides. True or False. I put false because it is necessary but it marked it wrong. Am i missing something here?
In the National core book, it says "Always carry a Spill Kit with you." It sounds like I misclicked the correct answer on that question. Thank you for pointing this out to me. I will fix that right now.
good hand tools, knowing how to use shovel, try to overcome nature deficit disorder all lead to use of less herbicides. The spray first mentality for control should be last resort.
I agree with that unless it comes down to cost or effectiveness. In most situations, it is more cost effective to spray an herbicide than to hand remove (from a labor stand point). A good IPM program has other options beyond just spraying.
I have not found any natural product that works well for mosquitoes. I've had a couple of customers request it, but I do not believe it works that well. General pest is the same way.
Well your information appears to show no flexibility in targeting multiple pests in a crack and surface ir spot treatment? Your concentration is on spot treatment of an identified pest? Most of us applicators treat for multiple pests in a treatment? Roaches, ants, spiders, etc,? Especially in the southwest part of the country?
@tyjameson7404 I mentioned that pest control operators may want to use a broad spectrum insecticide to control multiple pests. It's situational and depends on the objective. I also wanted to harp on the point of reducing pesticides or being highly targeted in the application. Long gone are the days of blanket spraying properties with Organophosphates. By the way, if you are a perimeter pest control Applicator, check our Scion by FMC. It'll really benefit you.
Such great content, I am brand new to the pesticide applicator world and this knowledge is going a long way. I look forward to watching all previous and future content.
So once the channel hit 1,000 subs I was able to turn on ads for monetization of the channel. It gave me two options, manually set the ads or let RU-vid do it. Since I've never done that before I let RU-vid do it. Sounds like I'll have to manually do that so it's not as much of a pain.
I’m excited to hear about the opportunity. Happy I found the channel. Bought the core test practice guide and it’s helped a ton along with the videos. I’m in the tree world currently, but it’s nice to know what else is out there in the pest world.
Awesome! I'm glad it helped you. There is a lot of opportunity. I'm in the plant health care world and I'm an ISA Certified Arborist, and ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified. I'm going towards the consulting aspect more and more. Seems like plenty of people are out there to cut and prune trees while few are here to preserve them. Appreciate your viewership!
@@ElevateApplicate thanks, that’s what I was thinking I have a hedge row of them with 150 shrubs in total the diameter of the shrubs bas is just under 1” dia and I applied 3ml per shrub and watered in well after applying at the base of the shrub. Now that I’m aware of this issue I will be applying towards the end of may as you had mentioned in previous comment
Honestly the earlier you can apply the better. I try and follow Growing Degree Days with pests. For Boxwood Leafminer here in Michigan, we really want to be treating early to mid April. May is on the late end but still effective.
@@ElevateApplicate do you have any links to the “growing degree days” I’ve overheard about this on other resources also ( I’m very close to Michigan also) so I’d love to reference it to help
I use Scion on a whole lot of my accounts. Its a absolutely great product. I also use Bifenthrin Plus C on other accounts, but i add a synergist. I find Scion is $ 9.75 per 4 gallons of finished product. Bifenthrin Plus C is about $7.50 per 4 gallons of finished product, however you add in the synergist thatnis another $7.50 so 15 bucks or basically 10 bucks.
I get a 32 oz of Scion for $152.00 I use the 10ml per gallon according to the label. So that basically is 1.33 oz for 4 gallons. If it's a severe issue then I will use the 19ml or .65 oz per gallon. That stuff is potent, a little goes a long way. So in my opinion it's better than most products out there
If I use the higher rate then it's about the same price as you have. What I really like about Scion is I live in West Texas and the heat and sunlight are like the desert here. This stuff I don't have to add anything too it, it just does the job really well.
Your struggle with the incorrect acronym, "PARP" was mildly amusing. You were right, but didn't believe yourself because the slide was wrong.😁 Powered Air-Purifying Respirator = PAPR. Thanks again for this series & the available practice exam. Great resources.
ME under suspension products. What does that stand for? I'm a former fed and the feds love their acronyms. The pesticide industry is giving them a run for their money.
It was actually black font. When I uploaded it to the recording platform it switched it to white. No idea why. All I could think when I read that was, "That's a bold strategy Cotton."
Have you considered using spray drones for this type of job or any job for that matter? I’m getting into the spray drone business and wonder what your thoughts are.
Agriculture drones are awesome. But they have a place and purpose. It would be hard to justify buying a 40-60k drone when I could use a 5k skid sprayer on this particular project.
Incredible. Super helpful and educational. Thanks for your work! Would you be able to make a video on real world jobs and situations you’ve ran into? Specific methods you’ve used in different situations? That would be so cool!!
Would you be willing to make a video(s) where you film the entire (mosquito) application processes for a residential job? I watched your video where you sprayed a tree and talked about drift, but I'd like to learn more about your full process. Being brand new, here are just some of the questions that I have; Do you spray the entire property including the full lawn, or do you just spray the hot spots? Do you spray fences, side of homes? Do you use a skid sprayer for everything? Do you use a hight powered backpack mister/fogger? Does water droplet size matter? Can you mix higher concentrations than listed on the label if you use less product per 1000sqft (lower flow rate), or is the dilution amount on the label final? Thanks in advance, really enjoying your channel!
My next video will be about something for this. Not that long ago I asked if people would be interested in a Mosquito Masterclass. Next video will announce the waitlist for that. It will be priced at $197.00. This will likely be a 4 hour love class where I teach you everything you need to know to start doing Mosquito Control Services. The fact that it's live, will allow me to answer any questions that come up. Hope to see you sign up for the waitlist!
I'm about to take the test for the second time after moving from Michigan to Alabama. Gonna watch all your videos multiple times cause my new job relies on me passing. Thank you for making these videos. You're the man! Wish me luck!
If we are cleaning out a sprayer tank, where can the rinsate / residual pesticide water be drained? Our just drains out of the greenhouse into the ditch drain…. Is that ok..?
That is likely not legal. Rinsate should be used up on a property using the same treatment so long as you do not go above label rate. If that is not feasible to do, rinsate should be stored in a tank of rinsate and disposed of at a hazardous waste facility.
Thank you so much for doing this! also, for some reason I was instantly more interested in buying after you were like “ya it’s $20, I’m not ashamed of that cause this took a lot of effort to make” so real rather than just peddling a half ass book to make some extra money
Hah. It took a lot of time. I'll always be real and transparent. If I don't know the answer, I will tell you that. I will also be the first one to research and get back to you.
Love your video series. Can you tell me where I could buy a hard copy of the book from a credible source that can be trusted. I'm new to this is I am in the beginning stages of trying to start the process to study and get my license. Came across your video series the other day. Love the content very educational and helpful compared to other videos I've come across thank you for all your hard work and putting this together. Been looking for a hard copy of the book in your video as I see it being sold from many different sources and varying price ranges all the way up to $1,000 on Amazon which is crazy. So if you could please maybe post a link to a credible site where viewers like me could order the book and not have to worry about getting ripped off. Thank you very much in advance for all your help keep up all the great work that you do.
You are very welcome! You can download a free copy from rhe EPA at this link: www.epa.gov/system/files/documents/2022-09/national-pesticide-applicator-cert-core-manual-2014.pdf
Daryl, I just sent an email to the email you purchased with. Apparently, there was an extra h added to yahoo which is why you haven't received any emails.
This is a companion practice exam for our National Pesticide Applicator Core Manual series. It is a 200 question Practice Exam that is broken down by chapter. This helps you identify where you need to study more because you know what chapter you are struggling with.
My job in Michigan is certifying me in IPM any tips on what may be on the exam I have until the end of July early august for the information to stick Tnx
Are you studying to become a Certified Pesticide Applicator? If so, this RU-vid series is what I would watch. Also, the Michigan adendum should be studied (it's all of our local state laws).
@@ElevateApplicateyou're not going to believe this but a friend of mine has those nasty little miniature fire ants the real tiny ones IN HER HOUSE . I was over there Friday and got bit by a bunch of them on my hand and arm and the hand swelled up a little bit and was fever for 2 days . We're not completely sure where they're coming from and they're hard to see since she has brown rugs everywhere but we also saw them in the kitchen they were coming up in between the stove and the countertop . Looked at a channel where a guy talks about them and read the comments and people talking about how hard they are to get rid of outside -- well , in the home where she's got kids and several cats what a nightmare and I offered to help her since she's overwhelmed and works long hours and has kids with health issues . I heard about Spinosad , somebody else mentioned orange oil with any dish soap in water and I did hear about Tango ... have you ever tried that ? We don't really want to be using anything in her house that's not organic because of the kids health issues and also the pets ... plus they have a small dog . Can you give any advice as she does not want an exterminator to come to her home and I promised I would help . She's very weird about strangers being in her home .
