Nice to see Bushido is still around. It’s a great little game and plays in a small table area, although some of the early models were very fiddly to construct. I expect you’ll enjoy it.

I've played in a number of historical wargaming participation games at Salute, Vapnartak, Partizan, Hammerhead etc. I'm always struck by the welcome and sheer enthusiasm of the people running the games. Total opposite to Warhammer Fest 2023! Thanks to these shows I finally found a game my whole family love playing- Burrows & Badgers. Oh and most of these shows only cost £5 to get in.

Wow ended up in a MS_Paints Video did not expect that. I will say people in the UK seem to underestimate how blessed they are with shows, between the big ones like Salute and the smaller ones scattered around. I have done 3 salutes now wrapped around UK vacations but that is a journey of like 7000 km... so a bit of haul. It did feel nice and vibrant this year though, hopefully with the different content creators attending this year more people will see it isn't all just dusty old historicals. Was great to meet you and Hector.

Love your enthusiasm for indie and out of print games. re: XWing 2.0 - that game has staying power, especially if you prefer the original trilogy. The 1.0 conversion sets give you everything that you need (except the models) for an entire faction as of the end of 1.0. Since gameplay wise, all that matters for models is bases, that gives you a heap of options on the cheap. Worth picking up if you see them.

I really like UK Games Expo purely for the smaller artists/companies, of course i buy stuff from big companies as well but just seeing the smaller creators who have put genuine love into products whether they be a mini ttrpg campaign book or badges or miniatures etc etc. But it just feels amazing and train wide feels worth it.

"... I need to piss every five minutes." I think I need that on a t-shirt. The H&S Frog mini looks really lovely. Will there be a Tony mini, in perpetual forward motion? Did you bump in to any Grey Knights looking to collect Hectorgramic Wards? Dan is brutal and cunning. Bill is cunning and brutal. That Bushido Starter Set is very clever. Those candles on Mt Inari look really impressive; I wonder what makes their flames so chonky?

Glad to see you enjoyed the show. Great taste shown in your purchases I might add. Bushido has been on my radar for ages and the lack of dice in The Woods makes it hugely intriguing as a game. Can I just shout Hereward wargames show at Peterborough and Diceni at Norwich here in the comments as another two great annual events to add to the calendar.

That looked like a really fun event. I hope I can get over there someday to see it, looks like it is worth the travel. I hope you feel better soon, mate. I too have the Gout from being perpetually dehydrated, but watch out for the other thing it creates...kidney stones. I wouldn't wish those on anyone, try to stay hydrated. Great video, mate. I can't wait to see you put that temple together, and I'd LOVE to see you paint those Bushido minis. Cheers!

So good to meet you at the weekend, you are as nice and funny in person. What surprised me most about the event was the amount of space, I attended UKGE last year and had to leave early due to how cramped it was. At Salute you had space to breathe, even though I now realise how much I didn't see in over 6 hours. When I did eventually leave it wasn't due to boredom or anything, it was due to the fact that I'd spent £100+ over my budget and could easily have spent the same again. As an aside I love the Zack Snyder film aesthetic, use a lot of slo-mo to make the footage last longer. Keep up the good work.

Used to go to all the big shows in Sheffield and Derby and a ton of the smaller ones. Sadly due to health can't do 'em anymore but I always try to get to St. Helens for Phalanx nice little show and friendly. I did say try....

I saw Cloudships of Mars at Partizan and loved it, absolutely mad. Really nice bloke too, he told me the setting is based off some old board game but I definitely at least heavily modified the rules.

Bushido definitely looks like one of those "I'd totally just get the minis for this and never do anything game related with" categories. Neatly falling in an orderly queue with the likes of Infinity, Malifaux, and Warmachine.

Yeah, seems like everyone is trying to liquidate Fantasy Flight stuff these days. It's not even just the old releases, since I've seen Shatterpoint and the new MCP stuff marked way down as well. I think it's just a knock-on effect of how they do their releases; over-produce starters, underproduce expansions, and inevitably the players move on because they either can't keep up or can't get new product.

Gout? Had it a couple of times myself. May I recommend ibuprofen and cherry juice? The space marine does go for a pee during the day, I have seen his armour parked at the top of the stairs down to the loo while his partner stands guard over it.

15:46 thanks for mention those things as it's what I'd expected but it's good to know that is what they are doing.... Though my main concern is the grid as they are massive and the models tiny and the table does not help show them so how do they play?

I paid for a ticket to attend Griffcon 2023... but it ended up being GRIFTcon 2023. It was just one dude behind a table laughing and waving what I assumed was my money at me and flipping me off. Seemed weird renting a whole space just to let me know he'd ripped me off, must have cost him more than what he grifted from me, but you have to admire his commitment to the grift.

I did see you and Health and Safety Frog in the queue to get in, wanted to come over and say hello, expecially to Hector but that would have involved quite a bit of queue jumping and the size of the arms of the bloke in front of me made it very clear that was not a good idea.
