I drive a Ford also and the radio remaining on is one of the features I love about it. I can remove my key and keep it and the radio remains on as well as other components like power windows, moonroof etc util the driver or passenger door is opened but contrary to what you said, it does not consume battery one bit. It has a battery saving feature and goes off after 10 minutes or so automatically. Another thing is the keyless entry pad. Lovely feature to have. One main thing is Nigerian mechanics tends to overlook basic things thereby scatter things and cause more issues for you and this prompted me to DIY. Now I do basic repairs on my car myself. Had to get a scanner for diagnosis and when taken to mechanic, I tell them what I want them to check. Will recommend the car but be weary of mechanics that work on it. Good job

i currently drive a 2012 ford edge Limited and i can tell you that the car is amazing but you have to take care of it like a baby. The engine is power and fragile at the same time, i ignorantly knocked the follow come engine last year and i had to buy another engine for it lol. These mechanics made me use a low grade v6 engine oil and though it showed on the dashboard that the oil viscosity was low they insisted its just ford with their yeye notification and that it was nothing. That was how the engine gave up on a faithful afternoon when i pushed the engine just to hear some roar on the high way. That is the story of my ford life and if i am changing this 2012 i am definitely going for a 2016 ford edge sport(all white).
So sorry for the knocked engine, most this nigeria mechanics are useless just because of money and they can also make you spend excess money when know you use ford edge
This your review was really good. I was pessimistic at first. But it’s really accurate. I drive a 2011 Ford Edge and really a lot of things you’ve said are true. Stay vigilant, tackle all problems and you will enjoy this car .
Please run a review for the venza 2010 model.....it's really cool, even with some interior upgrades my mom did few days ago,she upgraded the infotainment screen,and it makes the interior more standard ❤️🤝....btw am an active subscriber.
1st generation Ford edge had one engine (a 3.5 ltr v6) till 2011 upgrade when a 2.0 (4 cyl) ecoboost engine was introduced for better mpg together with a bigger V6 (3.7 litre ) for Sport trim. It is this engine that's in the Mazda CX9 of the last 2,3 years of the same gen. The V6's both had the water pump inside the engine. I will only add that owners should use original (recommended) coolant/antifreeze and oil rating 5w-20 I think . (Check car manual or download PDF version). Ford changed the coolant severally (different colors) These will prolong the lifespan of these pumps. These lubricants gradually become acidic with time and eat at the seals of the pump. @@akinsonnathaniel9499 If the correct lubricants are used, the water pump will actually serve you well. But like Crank said, the idea of change as soon as you buy is bcos you may not know the maintenance history of ur car and the mileage of the water pump that came with it. Ask experienced mechanics; mile-for-mile, water pumps on Duratec (Ford V6 )engine goes farther than on say, 2nd gen Highlander. Just do the needful. If u av an AWD Edge, you have to also religiously change oil in the dif. (PTU) gear under the car say every 30K miles or thereabout. Many of us wont bother or we will put in rubbish and that's when the car starts complaining (noises) ALSO IMPORTANT!! Duratec engines HATE overheating more than your average cars. So get a VERY GOOD electrician to do "something" about your cooling fans.( Nigerians will understand this I'm sure 😁😁). You should be good with these Nathaniel. There actually is no perfect car, every car has their achiles heel. Just understand what you are dealing with. Ford Edge is a solid road cruiser. Happy motoring.
Good one bro! To shed more light on CUVs they are by no means SUVs. CUVs are "SUV looking vehicles" created on the platform of a saloon car. Similar to a saloon car, they are developed as a unibody rather than a body on chassis when compared a conventional SUV - which reduces their off roading capabilities. They may have a higher drive height but they mostly drive like saloons with more chances of body role due to their sizes. The trend of making CUVs picked up when auto manufacturers got lots of demand for SUVs which they could easily develop on an existing saloon platform to save the cost of manufacturing.

I respect everybody’s thoughts, but as my experience, I could tell you that this car is really bad. I mean, its a really comfortable car with nice features, but its pretty unreliable ( at least it was for me ).
@@josearturobaez you are 100% correct, i had similar issues with this car it's very unreliable and was like a money pit sold it within 6months of purchase. The car looks good with lots of features but breaks down too often

Contrary to what you guys are saying about this car,have had this suv for over 3 years and I put over 280 thousand mileage on it,I drove it to many states without issues other than put gas into it,very reliable,about over heating,pls stop putting water into your radiator,put pre-diluted 50 50 radiator water,that has high boiling point,so it will never over heats
@@paulnelly4502 Do you have the 2015 or so edition of the edge? Cuz I have talked to many owners of the 2011 that I had and they all said the same thing! I had to pay a lot to fix that thing and still… I know have a 2015 Chevy malibu and runs great and its so much more economic
if you have a Mazda CX-9 as well or you just bought one, it’s always advisable to change the water pump because the are both using the same engine and they have the same water pump issue
CX-7 is actually Ford Edge with a different body. They share same chassis and engine. Ford used to own Mazda back then and the two shared parts. Same with Range Rover using Ford Ecoboost Engine due to Ford ownership
The 2007 to 2011 ford egde has one major problem and thats the water pump. You wouldn't know when its going bad and due to its positioning. It would leak water into to engine oil and damage something major before you know it.

What I discovered about ford is most people don’t really know how to use it that’s why it gives them problems and when your dealing with a bad mechanic. Speaking from experience
You did your homework, the car has instant acceleration, it is a fun car to drive, but the problem of the interior light switching on and raining so was a pain to bear. Nice review
I wouldn’t even count that as a problem. I had 2 ford edge, a 2011 ford edge sport and a ford edge se. The sport one was really nice features but in about 5 year it kept giving a lot of problems. And the Se was 2 times worse… I’ve had to spent a lot of money to repair that thing and just damn it kept damaging. But at least both were pretty fast and comfortable vehicles
Dose ford edge 2009 limited do over heating as well ?if yes, what could have be the problem or how do we solve the problem finally? You talked about changing the pump immediately you get the tokunbo of it to enjoy the engine, so at least they should be a permanent solution to the overheating issues as well. Please enlight us. He said the owner put the stripes but praised the tinted glass... Car makers do not put all through tinted glass on cars like their Ford... they tint the rear windows but the front wind are done by the owners.... there are people that specialises in tinting car windows..
Just bought a Naija used 08 Edge, and all I can say is…..Krank was right. Nigerians don’t know how to use a Ford. I sincerely love the car, and investing all I can to bring it back to life. My advice, get a good mechanic and rewire - you’ll thank yourself later for this

Bro,the part you said the radio doesn’t go off unless you open the door that’s not true. My parents drives American 🇺🇸 cars my dad owns a dodge nitro and my mom a Ford Edge limited edition. I observed something in them about the radio you talked about if you turn off the ignition and take off your key the radio doesn’t go off immediately until after 5mins,same goes to the headlamp when you open it at night for the Ford Edge it goes off immediately you lock the car but if you don’t,the head lamps turn off after 30secs

Hi, great job but little error! The car you received above does not have the horse power rating you qouted. The highest horsepower from that model's engine of 3.5litre is 265hp not 305hp. The newer model after the one you received with same engine size of 3.5litre is 285hp. Only the Sport version of this new model (not the old model you reviewed) comes with bigger engine ( 3.7litre) that generates 305hp.
