#newzealand #story #education This video is about the reasons behind why you should not move to New Zealand. The country is beautiful and amazing however their are things about the country that many people don't know about so in this video I have decided to give you a full breakdown of why that is.

One word about the school bullying: the reason NZ stands out is that they made the effort of recording and investigating, unlike for example Japan, which has one of the worst bully cultures on the planet but nobody really ever looked into it for the real numbers.

Sorry but the only time I have experienced bullying in the workplace was in New Zealand, it's part of the culture, probably due to the lack of maturity and responsibility.

The bullying here in NZ truly is extreme. I've lived in many countries and I've never seen anything like it. I literally had my therapist screen me for an obscure personality disorder because I couldn't shake the feeling that people are out to get me. I didn't have the disorder. I was told, "It's not paranoia if it's really happening."

I have lived in New Zealand most of my life. There are many great things about New Zealand such as the food, the scenery, the welfare state, the sport etc .However, there is also the dark side of New Zealand which you have accurately identified. The worst is the high crime rate, and rampant youth crime with little in the way of punishment, many drivers are very aggressive on the road and they will tail gate you trying to make you pull over even though you are going at the right speed limit, lack of opportunity for the creative arts such as Actors and Actresses.
@quantummechanized2975

the welfare state is part of the problem and they are trying to keep you in a trap and keep you down, they are part of the problem, nobody wants to help their is no sense of true community, if your differant you will suffer, you will be judged you may even die at the hands of the system trying to get help, its far worse than this light n fluffy video barley scratching the surface of the true hell that lies in the most deceitfully corrupt country on earth

As a Pommegrant at the age of six I was bullied in school. I was a weedy Londoner brought up on rationing, 'nuff sed. But I discovered a natural talent for throwing rocks and worked hard at developing long range, rate of fire, accuracy ... and to Mum's despair, kept what the navy calls "Ready Use" ammo in my pockets. Kiwi kids, well fed and indignant with (huge!) inferiority complexes bullied me, so at any (R) any range and anywhere I'd pepper them with stones (I got the strap a lot at school)(but it was worth it!). With two other Pom kids we formed a small gang and honed our skills; the "Big Tough Kiwis" learned quickly to leave us alone. Flash forward, New Zealand has matured vastly and attitudes have changed. I came back to England to try to make the wifey happy, and she now sees what a huge mistake that was; we shall eventually be going back to NZ where I will burn my UK passport so it cannot happen again.
@johnhough7738
@johnhough7738 3 месяца назад
Going to UK is not (in my mind, anyway) at all a bad idea. Coming to the UK from NZ (homesick Pom wife) was THE bad idea. She realises now, but having burned our bridges we seem to be stuck with being here in the UK. There's a very valid olde saying to the effect that you can never step twice into the same river (Chinese? Japanese? Taoist? Zen?) and it is very very true. There's another oldie too, equally valid "Be VERY careful what you wish for - you might just get it." As for the UK it is indeed a lovely place filled with history, excellent social services (transport, postal, health etc etc) and alert friendly-enough helpful people. But my own heart is in NZ (and I'm a Pom~!). @@Blimzio

_"There are no cats in America"_ - as the old cartoon said. For me it's better to have my kid bullied in school (which i can solve, the similar way you did), than being bullied legaly by the Rozzers. (which i can't do stuff about, since they are well protected, and the system is too strong to sleep nights having a warrant.) I prefer the country, where you can tell the bronze to back off, if they cross the line, - not many of those around the big land.

I have been living in NZ for a year now, the country has some amazing scenery. But the horrible cities, damp houses, cost of living, all the crime and gangs, the horrible roads, the polluted rivers and lakes in which you can't swim (and that is like 75% of all the lakes and rivers) is really really really bad. There is nothing pristine about NZ there is so much pollution. On top of that the pay is half of that of what I can earn in the Netherlands. When I first saw the title, I thought it would be some light and fluffy click bait title with nothing deep and nothing of substance but this gets to the real hidden truths that so many try to cover up or deny because, 'kiwiana' culture is so sensitive to any negative feedback. It's not like bullying is a huge problem in every school. I went to school in NZ and wasn't bullied. Never saw any bullying. Depends what you mean by "bullying". Every year there would be a "fight season" where new kids would fight or attack someone, then they'd get expelled and it'd be over for the year. When the next year started, new troublemakers would arrive, fight, and get expelled again. By the end of school I was so removed from the new kids socially I never noticed it.

First of all, I'd like to see some authoritative sources for your conclusions: Support your arguments with hard data. Show us with actual statistics how bullying is so bad here. Show us with actual stats how crime is so unbearable. Walk the talk. Are you also seriously saying that Kiwi content creators cannot create content in NZ? The internet is global, mate. My experience is, of course, much different than what you describe. For me, it's all positive. But I've lived elsewhere in the world and can compare NZ to other countries. Sadly this is an accurate and honest assessment of NZ, the high youth suicide is the most heart breaking of them all, it is of course related to our high rates of violence within the homes and lack of fathers in the homes. Also our leadership through the education system encourages a high degree of permissiveness that leads to our youth feeling empty and lost. We need Christ in our lives to know how to care, love and nurture our families, our families need strong good fathers to be role models and nurturers for our boys and young men. We need Christian Judeo principles in our institutions and communities if we ever want to genuinely change any of these problems.

Bullying is a terrible problem in New Zealand. Even when I returned on a holiday with my kids, my son was bullied in public playgrounds by kids that have never met him or seen him before! We've traveled together in Asia, Eastern Europe, some countries that are always portrayed as dangerous and criminal (Bosnia, Serbia, Albania etc) and never experienced something like that elsewhere. And yes, tall-poppy syndrome is a huge issue and it's really sad that we still didn't manage to get past it.

Being a kiwi I found moving to Canada with my family an adventure at the age of 15 till I went to school. I wished that we had never moved here. I hated school here because of the indifference that I found for someone from another country & because of how far behind they were in the school curriculum. Bullying was on a different level here & I would have gladly gone back. I've had people refer to NZ as a third world country & not a place to even consider going to because of misguided judgement especially since they had never been anywhere in the south pacific or literally out of their own borders. I found attitudes like this to be so prevalent throughout the US when I lived there. So many didn't believe that there was anything beyond Australia other than the Antarctic & that I was lying about where I was born & raised.

Go visit, stay away from Auckland though. The real NZ still exists in towns and villages, especially in the South Island. My personal choice will be Invercargill, which many find as "dull as dishwater!" It's all about personal tastes, and what we are accustomed to. Take beer, for example. On my first adult visit to UK my first taste of Brit beer was "...flat, weak, warm and watery!" and on return after years away my first taste of kiwi beer was "... a mouthful of mildly alcoholic fizz!" As for 'visit' ... what can you learn about life ... anywhere ... by a visit?

One in particular had been with the company all his life, he was insular, ignorant and insecure. So many of these companies have these fools. That's tragic to hear about the youth suicides! I sincerely do hope some awareness is made in hopes they get the help they need, & they realize they have their whole lives ahead of them!! I'm a Kiwi living in the U.S., sorry but, to me, there's a lot of confusion in your video. Who is your target audience? Are you bringing awareness to people thinking of moving or visiting NZ? Trying to raise awareness in general? Or what looks like a public service announcement? At 30 seconds & 50 seconds in, obviously it's sobering to hear that it's the world's worst youth suicides & bullying, but where are those facts coming from? Where is there any data or statistics confirming your claim that it's the world's worst? Theft 1 minute 50 second into your video, & youth crime rate 2 minutes 35 seconds in, unfortunately there's going to be bad parts all over the world! Where was a comparison to show which parts of NZ have been affected the most & why? Without exolving 16 & under year olds, who commit any crimes, how are you going to put out a general blanket statement that the Justice System is "horrible" without any examples as to why or how? Have you ever traveled outside NZ? Certain parts of the world I'd never visit for obvious reasons, I'll let you draw your own conclusions. Instead of pointing the finger at people who are less fortunate & are either homeless or ran through tough times & didn't get the chance at a higher education, here's a better question why are you not trying to be a part of the solution? Granted no one person can save the world, & some people just don't want to be helped. At 3 minutes 21 seconds & 3 minutes 44 seconds, unless you've been living under a rock? The cost of living is expensive everywhere, plus the economy has also been hit hard everywhere!! Obviously inflation, but cost of living, have you ever heard of two states in the U.S. called California & New York? So it's not just NZ!! & in terms of bad for content creators? I don't know? I'm not a content creator! It does piss me off though when a content creator makes a garbage video like what you made! I might reside in the U.S., but NZ will always be my home!!

I lived in New Zealand (Auckland and Tauranga) for roughly 3 years and it's safe to say I didn't really like it at all. I agree with many of your points. People have this weird picture that NZ is a paradise utopia but NZ does a great job at hiding the problems while projecting to the world this "100% Pure" myth. Disclaimer - I left NZ just before Covid so I don't know if some of my points have changed or gotten worse. - Housing quality is horrendous, Kiwis pay astronomical amounts of $$ for glorified shacks with little to no heating that gets damp and mouldy very easily. For a country that knows it's mild, windy and rainy for a lot of the year this is unfathomable. - This is connected to the first point. Quite often people take the easy way out and use band aid solutions for issues that need proper maintenance. When I told my Kiwi coworkers and friends about how cold the houses are a lot of them say "just rug up, use more blankets, wear thick clothing etc." You'd think they'd say build better homes but no. - Public transport is unreliable. Trains to and from Britomart were often extremely late and infrequent. Coverage is also not extensive. - Kiwis while overall friendly I found to be very small minded and take any criticism of their country as a personal attack. - Food in NZ is good, but I missed the sheer variety of ethnic cuisines. There's plenty of Asian food but NZ really lacks in Continental European, Middle Eastern, Latin American and African food. - NZ was a lot more racist than I was expecting, the casual racism towards Asian people in particular was shocking. - I found there to be quite a toxic attitude towards Australia (where I'm now living), almost bordering an obsessive inferiority complex. I'm in Australia now and nobody here seems to say anything bad about NZ or most people don't really care at all. It's very one sided. - New Zealand is not an ideal place if you want to go far in life. Career opportunities are limited. - There is zero in the way of nightlife even in Auckland. It feels like one massive retirement village, whenever I mention this to Kiwis they say it's because they have a small population but similar sized and smaller cities in Asia and Europe have more going on than Auckland. It's dead when the sun goes down. I'm currently in Australia now and it's definitely not perfect but I'm happier here than I was in NZ. I have two coworkers from Brazil and Thailand who like me moved to New Zealand first and didn't like it before moving on to Australia.

@fieldspring5329 idk, been doing my research as well and I must agree. NZ ranks in top 10 or "Best" in most of the ranking, but after doing extensive research it seems to me it's mostly because kiwis don't really care that much about stuff that is not good there, so they rate their QoL high... also a lot of "advantages" I have seen about NZ QoL is from the American POV (free health care - mostly, work/ life balance, fairly low crime rate), but from my European POV it's all standard and expected stuff. I have an offer on the table to move there for 2 years with a very well paying job (120K NZD / year) which I will probably decline, because it's just not worth to go 30-40 maybe even more years backwards and at the same time 18K miles away from home. I mean houses without central heating that cost crazy money, since it's an island everything is much more expansive, yet the wages do not reflect it either, now even the crime rate is going up over there, getting a tech is a problem, weather is crazy.

We are have a history with indigenous that we are always working to make better..we are a small melting pot of down to earth people that live in a beautiful paradise. This place has a soul, we are grounded in everything about this place, the sea, the mountains, culture, food, creativity art. growth..If you come here with a pessimistic attitude then you will find the dark side...as kiwis we make the most of it and just get on with it! lifes simple here-no place is perfect..but its a place thats natural and ive always felt free...mayb because we are so far from other countries we have somewhat preserved that.

I totally agree! New Zealand and all it's beauty is all fine and dandy but it becomes a moot point when you can ill afford to travel it's vast and varied countryside let alone just exist. The governments or local councils have just become self preserving and bleed off it's residents rather than serve. The country is in dire financial strife and it's becoming increasingly difficult for police to exercise law and order. The government has only been opting for increased numbers of wealthy migration which will alienate the average New Zealander. It's rapidly becoming more and more of a wealthy person's retirement village on a grand scale. Tourism in my opinion will never reach the grand heights we had formerly and with the global energy crisis and New Zealand's geographic tyranny it'll only exacerbate the escalation of inflation and unaffordable life style for ordinary people. Younger generations have been dependant on the bank of Mum and Dad for many years now it's it's really manifested in the number of homeless people. There's a concerning growing dichotomy between the two. Ourselves like many other parents of our age (60+) are frequently travelling abroad to visit our children and grandchildren at an ever increasing cost too. It'll be a rocky road for many years. I can understand why mainstream media avoid the facts as it would be alarmist hence them avoiding these serious issues.

My brother was saying recently how many Kiwi's were all upset about having to pay the Costco annual membership fee. It's like they want super cheap prices, but also don't want to pay an annual fee. Even though the super cheap prices more than make up for the fee. A lot of confirmation bias in NZ. So they're thinking 'annual fee' - can't be good then.

I know that large/overcrowded cities have a higher crime rate, but I never said that Auckland was the ONLY city in NZ, just that it has the higher rate than anywhere else in NZ, move out to the smaller populated cities and the stress level decreases. From my own experience, Aucklanders have a different mentality than anyone from anywhere else in NZ, 2 yrs at St Stephens taught me that much at least . . . . multiple times a day, every day.

It is interesting to me that race is not mentioned in this. NZ is a pretty race obsessed country and race and race relations are endlessly discussed in the media and permeates through many facets of NZ life now such as housing, education and healthcare, and even to the extent of separate race-based seats in the parliament and local councils. However it is an extremely 'sensitive' subject in NZ so understandably the author may not have wanted to bring it up.

You are right. I was in the USA and it is severe there. Sure Upstate New York and Connecticut are lovely. But the Midwest and the South are a mess. There is so much crime and homelessness. And 'youth' depression may bad in NZ but I guarantee American adults are a lot less happy than kiwi adults at this moment in time. And then I am sure that it is even worse in poorer countries.

As a kiwi it has some great things Good- scenery lots of hiking spots near where you are or a scenic location close by. Good for outdoors, safe in lots of parts, good quality of life such as good produce and good for a quiet life for having a family. Decent work life balance compared to some countries and good for running a business. Mixed stuff - Isolation it's good if you want to be away from other parts but if you want to travel it's very far People while they are friendly in general overall good to talk to in shops etc and on the surface they are hard to get to know they feel like they don't really want to know you. Lot of friends I've made over the past few years are foreigners. Feel like some kiwis are hard to make conservation with. They only interested in what's around them. Bad - Youth Suicide one of the worst in the world due to it's isolation, tall poppy syndrome and you feel if you're not in the crowd or play rugby you get bullied. Scared to get on the wrong side of someone and feel like you have to be stuck in a small crowd environment so you have to try and be friendly with who you can be with. High costs due to be far away from lots of parts of the world such as consumer goods and high house prices and lack of infrastructure on decent roads in parts as well as terrible public transport and to do anything you need a car.

I think that is a his personal opinion and it’s not that bad here in New Zealand… makes it sound terrible. Sure housing is expensive here but that’s because so many people want to live here now and money is invested in property because there is a bit of distrust of the share market after the 1987 sharemarket crash - demand for housing outstripping supply just like in may areas of Australia. We have lowering crime rates and very low unemployment, but it’s easy to pick and choose statistics and misrepresent them. I wonder how much of the country he has actually seen?? And what experience he’s actually drawing on?

As a South African with a Good profession (health care ) we have been actively approached by NZ recruitment agencies to come over. And I'm pretty sure it's more safe than south africa. Theft isn't as major as it is here. Here we deal with murder rate.. so I'm definitely thinking of emigrating . So I'm taking this with a pinch of salt. I'm pretty sure it's better than south africa.

lol this is very true. I myself was asked that numerous times. My immigrant friends all had the same questions asked repeatedly too: "What do you think of New Zealand, it's great isn't it"?. I always had to fawn over NZ and give answers that would make Kiwis happy because if you give any negative feedback or criticism about NZ they get aggressively defensive. I found NZders also have this weird obsession with Australia, like beating Australia at anything would be headline news meanwhile in Australia they couldn't care less and don't really think about New Zealand at all.
