They already said they're working on uni2. So I guess we gotta wait. I know they said they were trying but must of hit a roadblock with getting it into uniclr.
My first greeting to Uni was BBTAG. And my favorite character there to this day remains Gordeau. While his unique mechanic is minuscule, stealing opponent’s resources became my big appeal right after I tried out Terumi. +Big Scythe. +Laidback personality. +Rushing Heart. When picking up BBCF after TAG, I understood how much all the characters have to offer in their original games. I haven’t been confident until now. But seeing Uni community’s perseverance and welcoming nature, I might just pick it up on Holidays and start stealing some game cubes. Thanks Salte.
@brickpuncher1429 I ran Gordeau+Carmine and Gordeau+Hyde. I'm still super salty that Gordeau and Hyde don't get unique dialog. In fact, Gordeau and Hilda don't get unique dialog scenes either, which is... super odd, to say the least. I'm hoping that in UNI 2, Gordeau and Hyde will at least have a conversation. Say what you will about BBTAGs story mode. But I personally thought Gord and Hydes chapter was the best in the game. Their dynamic is so cool. It's almost like Gordeau treats him like he's his son. Having a Luffy and Shanks dynamic would be awesome.
@ do you know if there are many players who are in Canada. Normally I wouldn't care if it was delay based or not because there's usually at least a small player base of people in canada. But the way you're making the game sound is as if everyone will be from the states and I'll have a bad connections with all them. Lag
UNIST is IMO the most cohesive, well thought out 2d anime fighter of its generation. Best music, Best OG characters, Great story and and concept / art designs. I too share an immense passion for this game. One of the best introductory 2d anime fighters anyone can pick up and play with friends. I hope to see sequel info of UNIST very soon.
@ eh im not sure with me i vibe with it but i dislike how neutrul feels combos are a 10 to me(something i cant say about melty blood) but man even with yuzihara and here movement options it feels so sluggish

100% agreed. This game is just straight up **fun**, one of the games that got me back into fighting games after I dropped them for a few years. Also, it introduced me to Akatsuki, and that dude is just sick.
Problem is that the game is dead af. The only way to get matches is to ask for games on discord . And again , problem is that mostly very dedicated players are active and it sure as hell wont be fun for a beginner to play vs lol.

I see it as more of a learning process for any fg really, there will always be players better than you even in highly populated games like Strive, but the UNI community is great with providing learning resources and while it is much smaller it still has plenty of folks to who aren’t super skilled (not in a bad way) and just enjoy playing the game
Straight up I just agree I got hooked on this game a few years back (doesn’t mean I’m good at it) and it’s great especially if you have someone else who likes fighting games. It’s got all the basics of a normal game with extra tweaks that makes it way more engaging like the grid system and the strength of defense and offense being at play every moment of the match. And that’s just a bit of the game that makes it great
You can really ignore most of that stuff at first honestly. Just learn it gradually. When it comes down to it it's still a fighting game and fighting game fundamentals are gonna trump most system mechanics if that makes sense

For as popular as fighting games are (or were), I simply think they are an extremely difficult formula to evolve and find surprise from. I don't even play these anymore.
Uniel's roster is just too samey for me. They have their gimmicks, but to sum it up, half the roster is 'big button spacing' and the other half is 'rushdown', with maybe 'rushdown but also you grab or shoot' thrown in. Only 1 real grappler, only 1 ranged character that's really dedicated to it. This is kind of normal for anime fighters (and much worse in anything else french bread ever worked on; the melty games are almost entirely rushdown), but french bread aside, its usually not quite this bad. The combo system (reverse beat +++) is a big part of it. Yea, it opens up tons of options. So many it feels too loose. I can basically just do whatever I want which is a step too far for me. I don't want it to be like some of the Streets games where 90% of the cast just baited with mids because damn near anything else couldn't be followed up on, but being able to just be like "okay I hit one of a b or c time to just press the others lol" is way too loose. I hope Uni 2 has more actual meaningful variety in character archetypes rather than the same few with a weird gimmick on top. Or a second grappler. Current one is by far the ugliest guy in the game. Mika doesn't count; she's just rushdown but combos into grabs, like Wagner, except less good.
