Nah it makes more sense for it to be severe frontal lobe damage that allows him to commit acts of extreme violence on a wide scale with little consideration.
@RadeonX0X thats part of why i love it, mostly the immersion aspect. I like failing skill checks but theres no point in failing a skill check if i can see how good i need to be
@@GenericMimeToadter Didnt they already started going crazy with ambitions and experiments after putting the brains into jars, which became a reason for Mobius to mess with their gels in the first place? To control them, keep them busy and such
i’m honestly surprised house of all people doesn’t talk down to you for failing that medicine check. that was like a legit nonjudgmental answer, forgoing his usual brand of superiority to teach the courier something. that’s actually nice of him
It's because he's an incredibly narcissistic man- but he's a smart, fine gentleman who would never miss a chance to educate someone with his vast banks of knowledge.
@WelcomeToDERPLAND and also because it is quite a niche subject. Like he seems to be the only one that figured out how to achieve robotic eternal life. Not something he'd expect others to know about.
@@stefschouwenaars9562 I'm sure, someone with such an intellect as house would be burning and itching desire to share his knowledge in a world where he's the last person alive with it.
I love that someone actually wrote failure answers. Fallout 3 made them just the same response just it worked or not It conveys so well being awkward and being tongue tied.
@@BeanFan999 I'm talking about the words that appear if you don't have the skills. In Fallout 3 what you say is the same, the skill merely changes if it works or not. Here, the line you speak to the character is different if you lack the level. Something like that must be awfully time consuming and most wouldn't bother since many players will min max speech since its a constantly used skill.
Since your character has low speech and low int but also the confirmed bachelor and lady killer perk I like to think your courier is not trying to impress or seduce people, he's just so incredibly blunt and direct that it ends up working because he's 100% honest, I love it
1. I was having a gloomy night and this cheered me up quite a bit. 2. This is like if I took every stupid moment of my life and mashed it up into one compilation. thanks for the PTSD
Independent Courier, before Benny: all stats are 5. Independent Courier after Benny: Strength 7, Perception 3, Endurance 5, Charisma 3, Intelligence 3, Agility 4, Luck 10... and Wild Wasteland because this is too surreal NOT to include it.
When Caesar has his headache and says "fuck this I'm going to go lie down, come back tomorrow" if you talk to him again he says fuck off or I'll tell my guards to kill you, and if you talk to him again he says "guards kill this idiot" and everyone turns hostile.
Dude be talking to house giving him bad news while pulling his backpack on that very same momoent to take out his trusty vault 13 canteen and take a sip
Why do the npc's feel so much more alive in new vegas than fallout 4? it really shows how lazy they did fallout 4, sure it has better graphics but at what cost. I only played fallout 4 but just watching a video of these npc's they feel so much real, more alive with real lives at stake. Fallout 4 npc's feel so bland and pathetic. Most don't even curse why? the game wasn't made for kids, idk I just feel they put the amount of effort into fallout 4 that they did in new Vegas.
Bethesda haven't written a solid game since morrowind. *prove me wrong*. Obsidian has the charm for world building and character development, the Outerworlds is a fantastic game by them if you enjoyed New Vegas
It's not only better acting and writing of the NPCs, but I also think it partly an illusion because FNVs superior dialogue system really lets a personality of your character emerge and that reflects on the characters
@@Ellimist000 It's also the lack of consequences for your actions. I don't have some specific positive example for FNV right now but in FO4 if you work to a certain point with the Nuka World raiders, Preston Garvey gets (legit I guess) mad as hell. But actual tangible consequence? None, really, other than a mishmash of stern-disappointed dialogue from him. Causing the MM to turn on you or erupt into a quasi civil-war of General supporters and those with Garvey or against the general because you meddled with raiders? Nope. You can really see the evolution of Bethesda's thinking if you go this line: Fallout 3 - Fallout 4 - Starfield. Fallout 3 was crazy in specific terms and with some characters and topics. Fallout 4 still feels like Fallout in a way but you notice some changes in how they approached some things. Star Field, while maybe a different IP or thing, shows the modern day Beth approach best: Not even trying to be that innovative and certain topics that they easily covered or implied in FO3 (or 4, too) they didn't even dare to touch with a ten foot pole in Star Field.
I'm 90% sure it's not ACTUALLY the celebrities and just pre programmed personalities based on their traits. Like a caricature of themselves. It's just the asthetics of having your brain preserved and used as a CPU in a robot.
Seems fun as hell. I usually did the opposite, as a high intelligence, high charisma gunslinger with psychopathic tendencies, but high karma. (Luck was also relatively high. The rest was just average or slightly above, except for strength maybe.) I usually was kinda over-invested and always wanted to be as versatile of a character as i could be. (It was sometimes just awesome how i had like 5 speech checks and could successfully use all of them.) Though i really enjoyed to play that way.
Jokes aside, Slow Courier comes off as a much better written character because he actually has a personality and not just having bland and generic dialogue.
Ya know you got me thinking. This has gotta be what they intended to be the canon playstyle because you got shot in the head. Pretty easy to see how that could make someone a bit less intelligent
I have finished the game 3 times and rarely clicked on dialog options If I didn't have enough stats, just because this feels like shooting yourself in the foot. Maybe I should have.
low speech/int very often justifies the violence that follows like I'm sorry if I wasn't be enough of a suave smooth-talker to get you to see basic reason; I still gave you a peaceful option and you rejected it, say hello to my lil devil
I like how House's superiority complex is so immense he doesn't treat you any differently whether you're an idiot or a genius, since he views basically everyone in the Wasteland as ignorant tribals. It's only when you insult him or threaten him that he talks down to the player. When confronted with asking if he's a brain in a jar his response isn't "Of course not, dummy", it's "No, I'm not a Robo-brain, and here's why". But the moment you suggest keeping the Platinum chip away from him longer, or aid in any part of Vegas not being in his control, he immediately loses it and pulls out any insult he can think of.
I get that otherwise dev time would balloon up dramatically, but I'd like the fails to still progress the conversation somehow, instead of just having a haha funny interaction you know won't matter in the slightest next time you talk to the guy. You get to pick the option later most of the time as well (after ingesting mentats, reading a mag, downing a bottle of vodka and switching to your sexy underwear, of course) so it's extra irrelevant.
You can get arcade with an intelligence of 3. Pick INT 4 at level 1 and drink a beer. Get the INT implant then start leveling up. You only need INT 5 for PACK RAT perk that shit is awesome 😊
