This time I visited the countryside and met some interesting people there who are taking the initiative with different projects trying to make their hometowns better for the future.
They really inspired me and gave me inspirations for the things I do so I hope to share their story with you :)
Also you can also stay in the places I did!
ITINERARY:
If you want to stay in the guest house I stayed in or try any of the local activities I did, email my friend Arisawa will help you get in contact with the locals to do it.

Thank you for doing documentaries like this. It’s more than about travel. It’s about humanity.

I was watching the video and tears started to roll down my eyes because all of these small communities are trying to work together to make their homes more lively again. They are not afraid of outsiders, they want the outsiders to see that they are there and this is what they do and how their community is unique. I hope that one day in the future, I will be able to visit these places and do some of the activities as well even though there is a language barrier.

This is why I watch your vlogs..I really enjoy watching the simple side of life. People live in such a hurry from day to day that we have forgotten how to take a step back and appreciate the simple part of life. As I watched you remove a daikon from the dirt I thought about how my grandma pickled the daikon leaves. I used to love eating that with a bowl of hot steamed rice and a little bit of shoyu. Thanks for your work and Thank You SO MUCH for appreciating the simple part of life!!!

I am really inspired by how these people manage to rebuild their communities to attract people to come back to the rural parts of Japan. As I am currently taking up my MBA in Tokyo, I wonder, as a business graduate, what is a feasible/sustainable way to pull out people from the urban cities (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya), and out into the rural areas, such as Tottori.
@professionalpotato4764
@professionalpotato4764 5 лет назад
I think one of the easiest ways firstly would be tourism. But that requires lodging, and things to do. Lodging is relatively easy to set up, but getting things for people to enjoy and have fun with is quite tricky. The fun things to do in the countryside is so different from a city, and I would assume it appeals to a relatively smaller group of people. Tbh, I'm starting work soon in the countryside as well, and will be exploring new business generation in order to revitalize the rural areas. It's a tricky problem that I hope I can contribute towards. It'll be a real shame to see so much of the culture and heritage gone.

Because of you, Chris and Paolo my wife and I visited Japan in November. My wife insisted on visiting Tottori due to your influence. We loved the local town Yasugi with bicycles through rice fields and stayed at the most beautiful Ryokan called Koyokan. We stayed only 1 night but we'll be back. All of Japan exceeded our expectations in food, culture, history and above all - it's incredible people. Thank you Angela for sharing these lovely videos. Osoreirimasu Thank you

The people of this town are so wonderful! I love it! Right near the sea, I love to fish! The people of this town are so self sufficient. Thank You Angela, for taking us on these fascinating journeys!

@@internationallyME no no..no need to apologize lol. It's a refreshing approach being able to create, share and reflect and i much rather enjoy that. I would gladly remain patience for the trade off on you having a healthy mindset and constitution as opposed to burning yourself out. The most wonderful thing was seeing the news piece your country done for you. Which in itself is amazing that your vision is reaching people from across the world. So in a sense not only do i have your videos to look forward to, but also watching how much you grow and progress is a bonus itself. I'm wishing you nothing but the best Angela ❤

Take home message: My plan to visit Tottori Prefecture during my 50th birthday is still my plan! Thank you so much for making these videos. I saw your earlier video about Tottori and decided that is where I want to visit in a few years. I am saving now to visit in Summer of 2024, and I am so excited. I will start learning Japanese this year and hope to do some of things I've seen you do in your videos. I think I'll add staying in that hotel to the list.

I was trying to get my friend and his family(it was their first visit to Japan) to take a detour through Tottori last year when we visited Japan. This makes me even more want to visit the area. Your videos have convinced me that when I next visit Japan, I want to visit the more rural areas. Sure Tokyo is amazing, but there is something wholesome about these places you show us. I grew up in a small city far removed from big cities and this reminds me about what I miss most from those areas. All the hidden bounty and generally kind people. I just hope I do not embarrass those whom I try to visit, I'm guessing these communities can be hard to approach as a foreigner. But I'm hoping to do my best, and see Japan as it is. Thanks for the fantastic video, I hope we get to see more soon!

These old schools always remind me of one school I saw that had been hit by the Tsunami. It was the only building left standing in the village a year later. It was so sad. But even so, my biggest pipe dream is to own the land that school is on one day and turn it into something filled with hope. It probably won't ever happen, more realistically, I hope to at least find it again. I hope it's still there.
