resonator deletes do or don't do different things on each car. Some cars it will do pretty much nothing except increase highway drone. Some cars will get a raspier exhaust. Some will get a deeper tone. If you don't want to guess at it. I'd recommend looking at forums for your specific car
to actually hear the sound of the resonator, u have to get a muffler delete as well. yes, it does also depend on what car u have but once u do a muffler and resonator delete on any car, pretty much all cars will make the exhaust have a raspier tone
If you do a muffler delete and only the small resonater delete leave the longer one because the resonater does not make it any louder the resonater only changes the pitch then put on the original flow master series 40 and then you'll have one kick ass sound old school 1967 GTO sound. Taking off just the resonater is proff of what I keep telling people that it won't be louder. Leaving it on after you take off that big ass muffler and the small can resonater will make it loud and keep it quiet in the cab.
i want to do a res delete because when i reach like 2.5k rpm the sound of exhaust starts sounding like stock and i hear the engine get loud which is not what i want when im speeding up fast. but idk how the res delete would make it sound tho. i have ‘12 lancer es with an axleback exhaust
You don’t remove your resonator and keep your muffler, your mufflers job is to keep the sound at a specific decibel level, your essentially wasting your time and money removing only the resonator.
I don’t think that’s always true, my Jetta GLI got a lot louder with a res delete. Loud enough to where I don’t even want an exhaust system anymore. But it’s also weird because the golf GTI’s don’t do shit with res delete. But on my Jetta with the same engine, it made a world of difference.
I have to disagree with you, resonator doesn’t muffle as much sound as a muffler, no. I just cut only my res off my 05 acura tl and it’s quite a bit louder, but not as loud as a mid and rear muffler delete. I have ZERO and i mean ZERO drone and anything less that 2.5k and i’m not even annoying my neighbors but it’s REAL raspy now. So yes man it does make it louder, but also sound like ass😂 which is why i have to agree it’s a waste of money and time, just for a different reason
Best imo on 4 cly cars a muffler delete with a resonator upgrade. Idk why people think doing a resonator + muffler delete sounds good. It becomes to high pitched. Always imo you have to upgrade the resonator. But to each their own
U cut one of my cats and my muffler ima but the muffler / st8 pipe it before I lower my 03 Solara but it super nice to hear them pops in mine around 3 - 4 rpm / stick shift so that also helps .
Hi i have a 2010 honda city 1.5.i deleted my muffler but the sound isn’t that loud so should i delete my res? Will it affect the gas mileage or my engine?
I been getting 22 mpg from my 2015 mustang v6 and after removing the resonator and got H pip installed where the resonator was now I'm getting 18 mpg plus the car is extremely loud Yes I wanted to be loud but that's a lot and the drone will drive me crazy
Put the resonater back on. You won't get that loud drone noise in the cab. The resonater dosen't make it any louder outside it only changes pitch. Put on a flow master series 40 and it'll sound old school awesome.
When you take off the resonater you loose HP because you allow gases and air to go back up into the engine. Think of the resonater as a one way check valve. It's not there to muffle the sound it's there to increase HP. Leave it on.
Like people who think a cold air intake or short ram intake is better yes, it’s louder; however, all those plastic baffles are there for a reason. No auto manufacture would put something there that’s not necessary or required. Vibration from the Engine causes sound waves that can actually affect airflow slightly but enough to matter. So I imagine there may be something similar with exhaust that there should be a little bit of pressure or there could be problems with the catalytic converter maybe even the valves Most things like this, the risk is not worth the reward
Keep in mind though that automotive engineers are primarily focused on fuel economy, not power output. They intentionally make air and fuel draw as low as possible for said engine and the exhaust as restrictive as they can manage.
I got a muffler delete with Custom blue tips sounds way better guy told to to come back and do a Resonator delete not to sure I didn’t want it to sound louder What do you recommend me doing just leave it as is !?
It depends, ive never heard a muffler delete in person, i watch a few videos with both delete and it sounded to loud imo, i would drive it for a while and see how you like it.
Okay so I want a magnaflow exhaust for my fusion and in order to make it sound awesome, should I cut the muffler off and replace it with the magnaflow and delete the resonator as well??? Or should I just leave the resonator in ?
I just ordered the flowmaster delta race muffler, it'll be a resonator & muffler delete set up with the flowmaster as my mid muffler, I also have 1 cat removed it's sure to sound pretty vicious
No this wont affect the engine at all, after having this done for a while it sounds o-k. It has a little bit of a sound to it. Its a fairly cheap mod if you’re unsure
I have a BMW Z3 and I don’t know what to do a muffle delete or a resonator delete, can anyone help? I don’t want the loudest car, just to have a deeper sound or a little bit louder than stock
I have a 07 Chrysler sedan and I did a muffler delete with a spec-d exhaust last year and my local shop only charged me $84 to do that and yesterday I went back for a resonator delete using a cherry bomb glass pack in it's place and they only charge me $60 for that
I did a resonator delete still have cats and stock mufflers sounds terrible sounds like a tin can probably because I have 2 mufflers but not good seems a little faster
My boy, the exhaust has to mature. It will eventually become a part of the exhaust rather than something you just added on. And I’m having that with my fiesta st. I did the muffler delete and it added sound but no pops. I took off the resonator and now the car pops for no reason sometimes😂. It’s like I have a burble tune sometimes if the exhaust is at perfect temp. But resonator does make a difference and that’s on the baby brother of your car. Take off that muffler and then you’ll hear everything at once. But you should get either a performance muffler if you don’t want it loud. You shouldn’t modify your exhaust if you’re not willing to sacrifice it being possibly “too loud”. My fiesta st is straight piped and I consider it only loud when I actually push the car.
I don't know what car you have but mine comes with 3 cats, I removed 1 of them but not the main, I also have a cherrybomb m80 as resonator & a muffler delete & boy does it pop, but I'm about to do another setup, but it will still pop because that cat is removed
