This video is well said. As a Cane Corso owner of two males, I will tell you that this breed isn’t for everyone. They are big, beautiful, and majestic. They are definitely an 8+ on the protective side. I have owned a Neapolitan Mastiff and Rottweiler’s in my time…and this breed needs an experienced and dominant owner. They take a lot of work, time, and attention. Not to mention they are extremely expensive to own. However nothing great is ever easy. Cane Corso’s are an amazing breed that are affectionate, loving, and loyal to no end. I can’t imagine my life without them and I look at every day I have with them as a blessing. They require a tremendous amount of care but if you are willing to do it, I promise you that they will be the best dog you will ever own. Thank you for the informative video.

My Cane boy just turned 4. If anyone thinks it's possible to train a Corso through a forceful or any type of training other than with honest and truest love. You shouldn't bother. I've trained and raised pitties , English mastiffs and you name it it for aggressive breeds . This was by far the most rewarding and most loving. This guy had it point on . My daughter and I have put our very lives into this beautiful soul , but if you can't be 24/7 committed and willing to do anything for them, don't. You'll be disappointed. Communication with this soul is borderline ESP after 4 years. Rarely do I need to verbally communicate with him . He just knows. This guy is a 10 on protection but he holds that line until it's been lifted . He won't do a thing unless physical contact is made or threatened. I've never taken to a creature like I have with him . I'm 58 and took him in as a gift to my daughter when he was 8 weeks . After owning large dogs all my life since childhood, this one has me heart and soul. He leaves no doubt in his dedication. It's just continuously overwhelming. Even at 4 my daughter are shredded at the thought of him leaving this world before us . Time and love will be rewarded on the highest level. ❤️

You are absolutely spot on!!! These dogs should not be trained through ANY type of forceful or physically aggressive training. Like you said, these dogs need honest and true love while training them. These dogs quickly pick up on the intentions of others as well as the intentions of their owners. I have the same relationship with my two boys…I can look at them and know what they are thinking and vice versa. The eyes are the window to the soul. I wish you many years of happiness with your boy. There is no greater love than that of a Corso. ❤️

I have had my corso since she was 20 months old. Found her on Craigslist for a song. We think she was breed and sold off. She has been trained to be a service dog, just from a book I got. She behaves perfectly. Hospital court house restaurants etc. Lives with a 2year old and a 🐈 she plays with. I found an amazing dog.

Great video with lots of really good information, maybe in a few years when I have more time I’ll consider a cane corso again, very good to know they prefer to be around people more than another type of mastiff. I think if you love dogs you should always look into the breeds and figure out what they need too, these are living breathing animals that need to have their own needs taken into account too and I feel like a lot of people get dog because they “just want a dog”

I never realized until I was reading about the breed in Canada recently. The Cane Corso is the 3rd highest of population of all breeds in Canada now. The golden retriever is number 1 Shih-tzu number 2 Cane Corso 3 . Amazing how much this breed has taken off in my country. Alot of them are also used on livestock farms as well as family pets .

1 minimum year of proper socialisation, parenting is a must otherwise will become liability but if you give them what they need physically and emotionally.. You are in for a ride of your lifetime…

We have a Female Cane Corso and she is wonderful. She has honestly been the easiest dog I have ever owned. We did put a lot of effort into socializing her and training her thanks to Will and other resources but I do feel that if you are willing to put in the work, they are wonderful dogs. Our girl loves people, other dogs, children and has never chewed or shown any signs of aggression.

Would be cool for an up to date video about the Presa Canario, i own an 8 month 45kg monster goofball and although im well researched and have experience with mastiffs its still always interesting to get someone elses thoughts especially from a pro like yourself.....! ✊✌🏼

I agree. They need the time, patience, love and MONEY to keep them healthy. Vet bills, great nutrition, and exercise are key factors to the Corso (and any breed).

That's absolutely true. When i finally get my boy he immediately become my second full time job. And about this "general rule of thumb" that your friend mentioned it's not exacly truth. As a former Rottie owner i can already say that in my opinion Corso is next level dificult.

I liked your video ! I wonder if american cane corso are different from european cane corso ? Americans seem larger and have a stronger personality. I'm french and here cane corso is seen as easier than other types of mastiff breeds. Here we say "if you wouldn't get a cane corso, don't get a rottweiler or an american staff". We often say cane corso is the front door of other guard dogs, they have a pretty good reputation. Here I also hear a lot that cane corso behaves like great dane, and actually mine is exactly like a smaller great dane, a big baby always around me. That's why I wanted a cane corso, I love great dane, I grew up with 3 of them, but they have so many health issues compared to a cane corso because of their giant size. And I have absolutely no regrets, my dog is so lovely !

The modern corso is not really a problems when it comes to civil work but the traditional corso is far more likely to be aggressive towards strangers. Alot of breeders don't really specify the difference between them

I love my boy BUT it’s only because of my husband that I have learned how to handle them exactly how they need to be. He has trained all big dogs. As someone who has only owned small dogs it was definitely a switch up and I absolutely love him thanks to my husbands teaching me the right way. I had no clue what their sensitivity level truly was. He is the sweetest and most loyal dog I have ever owned. Ours is a black brindle and had no clue that they were the ones that live the longest until after we bought him.

As a similar breed owner (Presa Canario) I agree with everything this man says. I would deff get a Cane Corso over a Presa tho if not a extremely advanced dog owner.

With the exception of my wife and kids, there are three people on this planet who can get anywhere near my Bandog. He works in tandem with my female APBT keeping the house and property on lock. The chances of making it through a minefield are better than the chances of making it through my yard. The feeling of knowing you’re family is safe when you aren’t home is second to none.

Great video again! Please help me pick between dog de bordeaux, corso or rottweiler. Could you tell me what one to pick based on what one drools the least and what one will need the least amount of exercise. We do 1 30min walk per day mon- Fri then hikes on the weekend.
@thomascassar9020
@thomascassar9020 Год назад
I’ve had all 3 although I was a child when my parents had our Rottweiler, the Douge de Bordeaux needs the least amount of excercise but it drools the most by a big margin, the Douge is also the most laid back temperament wise and a lot calmer than a Corso or Rottie, the Corso would need the most exercise I’d say an hour and half to 2 hour walk every day to burn off energy or they will get bored and become destructive round your home, I wouldn’t recommend anything less than an hours walking a day for a Rottweiler either although the Rottie does drool the least, if it’s your first time owning a large breed I’d recommend the Douge De Bordeaux for you out of the 3, hope I was some help.

Im just saying real tired of people saying oh is not for a novice owner blah blah blah. As long you are a responsible owner and you socialize your puppy then your dog will become a good dog. You love your dog and you will be with them give them attention you’ll have a good dog. This whole elitism of only people who have had large dogs should have large dogs.. how did people learn?

I have a grey brindle female ...great all around dog but not for non active owners ...they are great dogs but need to blow off steam...and definitely not for older owners...as they are extremely strong and by mistake can take you off your feet ...great for walkers and people used big confident dogs...make sure do your research and find a quality breeder..thank God my girl is healthy calm indoors and last thing is I'm many breeds and have never had a dog that loves to play as the corso...and they are good with small children but again extremely strong...so you must make sure you show em from the beginning they must be extra gentle when children are present...they are also very protective but not overly aggressive to anyone...God help home invaders thou

Well said heavy socialisation wen young with these to people and dogs will help wen they become teens especially if living in built up areas this is we're exposure to many different situations crowded areas the more you show them wen young the more laid back they become in my opinion seen it all before kind of and not wtf freak out these dogs are going to develop a gangster attitude if not trained me personally think these are free roam dogs no crate or locked away they need the pack I'd say bout 2 hrs on there own max built up from 10 mins stages and treats and a fuss wen ya get back ya really need to make sure these dogs are going to fit in b4 ya even think about getting 1 i waited till my youngest child was 6 b4 introducing the corso just because of the size they need alot of exercise so recall a must coz ur arse can't walk far enough on a lead for them dnt forget to think about wat coloured spots ya want around ya house green or red (reds seasonal) 😂 if your up for the job with this dog they won't let you down but alot of people let them down. to you these will be a big Teddy bear loving cuddles to others this is a big intimidating dog the moment anyone steps on ur property all go until u step in dog people will be fine with this that's there job snow flakes 💩 a 🧱 my hardest thing with zeus my cane who is 17 months is guarding the gate or running the fence we're getting there it's just learning him wen I want the 🔔 and wen we dnt want the 🔔 there very intelligent dogs there always watching ya need them to have confidence a fearful corso will have problems I attack problems dead on with these dogs if there scared of cars where doing road walks and crossing roads until its not a problem I could rant all day 😂 👍 top dogs
