You do not get into enough detail about “spot” and “context”. I have played MtG since fall ‘98, and been a Bounty Hunter/T.O. for L5R. I do not have the same insights into FaB. So, please explain for an experienced noob?
Your spot is a state in the game, you figure it out by comparing your deck’s overall gameplan to how you’re currently doing in the game. Depending on your plan it will be a good or bad spot!
In MTG people call this "Who's the Beatdown?" or "Knowing your role". E.g. in MTG if you're playing a mono red burn deck for example it's easy to autopilot to "I'm a burn deck so my Lightning Bolts are for targeting the opponent", but that's not going to be true 100% of the time. You need to understand what the opponent's gameplan is and what the current boardstate looks like and sometimes it's correct to use your Lightning Bolts as removal, even though controlling/prolonging the game that way is generally not your gameplan. Likewise in decks where you normally use Bolt as removal you can autopilot to just always using them to kill the opponent's stuff, but sometimes you should recognise that you are really far behind on the board so 1 removal won't matter, but your opponent is on 6 life and if you save your bolt and draw a second one maybe that's your best chance of winning. Similarly in FAB you don't want to just default to playing your cards the same autopilot way every time when almost all of them have multiple different uses (Cast/Pitch/Block etc). You need to understand the matchup you are in and each different gamestate and play each turn on a case-by-case basis
Im officially throwing in the towel for the game. Local scene has died and all lgs have sold off all their stuff and refuse to carry products and such because its a waste of time and space. They outta make room for commander mtg so im just gonna head out. Been nice watching your videos. Hopefully 1 day the game gets more popular
this is so true, every single person net decks in this game its super annoying. I refuse to net deck, ill take inspiration from some builds, but over all i try to play under-dog heroes and cook the deck up myself, and as soon as i post results i have from one night, i get flooded with people dming me "send build"...like no one is willing to even attempt to cook on their own. Worst then that is i find most people try a net deck once or twice and if they lose both games they just give up and dont attempt to actually learn the deck and they think its "trash".
