Have a 2005 Grand Marquis LS Premium with almost every option including power front bucket seats with center console and power moonroof. I baby the heck out of her. I never drive it in bad weather. Unless it's an emergency. Found this car for my Dad. He liked it, bought it. Drove it until he couldn't anymore. I took care of it until he passed away. My Mom inherited it. She never drove. I was next because I took care of the car, the last two years of his life. Needs a paint job. It's an heirloom. Been in the family 12 years we all love it. My Dads last car.😊
First of all sorry about the passing of your father. Very nice of you to take care of the car for him during his last two years. Sounds like a great car! You’re taking care of it so nicely. They are the last of a dying breed, and we need to keep them up.
@@GirlDad189 Thank you for the condolences. Very nice of you indeed. Yes, she is a great car!! I plan to put an after market exhaust system on her. She has a factory dual exhaust system. I would like to do a Flowmaster FX cat back, delete the mufflers, keep the resonators and put 4 inch exhaust tip straight out the back. Not too loud not too quiet, either. She only has 126,100 miles on it. Just broke in. I need to join a Panther Platform Owner's Club. There's 10 other Panther Platform Cars in the town I live in. I know of about 30 other Ford Panther Platform cars in the immediate area County wide. The Sheriff's Office still has 3 Crown Victoria P71s on duty.
2 hours ago i just got my 2004 Grand Marquis GS for $5000. This car is absolutely in mint condition, got 30,000 mils on it. I'm the happiest man on earth tonight.
You're comment was one of the comments that sealed the deal for me in my research. I screenshot it and showed it to a few people. I bought mine on Saturday and I can't believe how in love with it I am.
I bought crown vic 2011 with 250k miles, I’m so happy with the car, the best feeling when I’m driving woooooow just smile for everyone 😂,i don’t look about others cars on the road even luxury cars, Thanks Ford for the legendary classic car in the world, Hamad from Saudi Arabia thank you guys ❤
I’m 20 and I just bought a 1988 grand marquis with 109k miles. The interior and exterior is perfect and it runs like a dream and has power everything. I couldn’t be happier with it. They are great cars
Im 18 years old got a 1997 grand marquis with 456,581 miles all stock and runs amazing been in my family since '97 and hopefully much longer. Edit: 457,000 miles
I used to work for a previously enjoyed used car dealer that bought a 03 f250 4x4 from the auction and wanted me to check it out for him. after looking under the hood it was well maintained and serviced with records! It started right up and sounded like a new truck the bed of the truck looked like it had loose boulders rolling around in it but he was hard up for anything at the time. I asked him if he ever looks at the odometers on any of these before buying because this one showing 449.000 miles on it. After he filled his diaper he had me take it up on the hill. It ran and drove great! If you look closely you can tell if anything has been changed and nothing.. All original drivetrain! 5.4 auto too. I realize we are talking about cars but I thought it would be something else to throw in the mix. I converted the truck into a plow rig and ran it thru knee deep snow one winter and he eventually sold the truck for a lot more than he paid for it. The buyers did not even question the mileage at all.
A 1998 Grand Marquis Taxicab at old 35 th St. yellow cab Norfolk VA. had 1.3 million miles ad was only taken offline when Norfolk Checker took over the Co. and foolishly believed it was not fitting to their GM only fleet, big mistake the Impalas transmissions were absolute Garbage!
I currently own a 1995 mercury grand marquis LS, I love it dearly. It was my home for awhile and it needs a little work but it only has 76 thousand miles on it and it's amazing
I've got both, an 01 Expedition with the old reliable 2v 4.6. Got an 05fx4 with a 5.4 3valve! The phasers are locked out. The old 2v moters are almost indestructible! The lack of technology is great! They'll run till you just get tired of looking at them! Day in, day out turn the key and just go! But my 05 has 274000 miles on it and I towed my 5500lb camper 150 miles last week!
I bought my 2001 Grand Marquis back in 2010 with only 52k miles on it. Other than normal maintenance items, the only thing I had to replace over the last 11 years is the fuel pump and one spark plug module. It's got over 120k miles on it now and it still drives as nice as when I bought it. These rigs are bulletproof!👍
I’m 23, and my first car was a 97 Mercury Grand Marquis GS. It’s currently my work commute vehicle. 320k and still going. True dual straight pipes, no cats, no muffler. Loud as all hell. Still runs strong to this day. Shouldn’t be running with the way I treated it when I was younger, but I tell you what, they’re absolute tanks
U do the non fouler for cat delete? What I did. Cheap like 5 bucks and no issues. Love a no sniffer county. Thief will waste his time on my cars. If ppl would hook up a capistor to the cat pipes so the board will fry in saws, alot of this wouldn't happen. Not enuff to harm, just a good zap, contract, pee n poop a lil and learn lesson. Get a J O B. Can't stand a thief.
I’m the NEW guy! lol I bought it two years ago from the original guy & believe you me, I take very good care of her!! ru-vid.comjiycxYmbd7w?feature=share
I love the panther platform and have four of them. The 2003 Grand Marquis is my winter vehicle and has no rust and still looks better than many newer vehicles. My non-winter fun vehicles are a mint 1990 Grand Marquis that I inherited from my father along with a 2009 Lincoln Town car I purchased 10 years old with 30,000 miles on it and a 2003 Mercury Marauder I picked up two years ago. Like I said, I love the panthers.
@@GirlDad189 that's a really nice Grand Marquis in lovely shape. They're getting harder to find in that condition, and especially for a reasonable price. Ford should never have stopped making the panther platform. The plant in St Thomas Ontario where they were made is completely gone now, and I believe the land has been sold. What a shame. Just change the oil every 3,500 miles and the transmission and diff oil every 50,000 miles, and it will last for easily over 500,000.
Just bought a 2010 crown Vic police interceptor at a auction. Was a cop car from 2010-2014 and taxi from 2014-2021. Bought it with 395k miles now I’m at 402k and still daily it. Best $1400 I ever spent, does long road trips with ease
Easier than the 07 Lincoln LS that EVERY mechanic bitched about? I guess the V8 in there left no room to do anything. Even changing the headlight was a plain.
Gotta love the Ford Panther Platform, they're toughest Platform Ford has ever created and that those 4.6L SOHC 2V Modular V8s will definitely outlast any EcoBoost engine Ford makes with ease.
I love my 2000 Grand Marquise, mine's got 34000miles on it and it is mint. I traded my 2005 Mercedes-Benz E320 for it in 2018, the benz was a ridiculously expensive to maintain.
I’ve owned many of these cars and the only serious problem I’ve came across is the intake manifold problem but after replacing 3 of them on 3 different cars it really isn’t all that hard. My newest car is a 1997 Grand Marquis with only 42,000 miles on it that I surprisingly got for $1,200. All I had to do was put in a new alternator and battery, the car is like brand new! There’s nothing to complain about with these cars and hey! My last one saved my life!
I daily a 97. I bought it 8 years ago for 2k. The intake manifold blend door motor lighting control module and window regulators are weak points but this is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I put $2500 into it last year because it was worth it. I would not think twice about taking it on a 4k mile trip. I have new tires brakes exhaust alternator battery ball joints wheel bearings sway bar bushings end links shocks etc... the 52 dollars a month I spent over the last 8 years includes oil changes grease filters and wipers and the purchase price of the car. I love this car. I bet it lasts me another 10 years easy.
I have a 2000 Marquis with 228,000 on it, and it still looks, runs, and drives like a new one. You just can't beat these cars. It always gets a lot of compliments everywhere I go. I wouldn't trade mine for anything.
I feel ya!! I have a real relationship with my 08 Mercury! I treat her great and she treats me great too! Love these cars!! 👍👍 ru-vid.comjiycxYmbd7w?feature=share
I always think to myself damnit Scotty stop letting the secret out, stop telling people these are the last good cars left, now you make this video! but honestly the secrets out anyway. people are fools and don't like the fuel economy or the size but I see absolutely nothing but appeal in my 06 P71 that I got a month ago for 3300 with 82k on it. I also have a 98 P71 with 181k on it and they're fantastic. can't convince anyone else of it though. all in all though I love that you made this video 😂
I use a crown Vic p71 for Uber except for fuel it’s best machine for the job: rugged beyond belief, reliable, easy to work on, spacious, comfortable, easy to clean, reasonable power to merge with loaded passengers and luggage.
I have a 2003 Merc Grand marquis I won in a coin toss. Named it Abuela. Drove it from San Diego to Seattle w/ no issues. Same color, I got her re painted, threw some 18 in American Muscle Bullits rims w/ basic maintenance and she runs like a champ. Only 125k miles. Once I’m in position I’m a do Coyote Swap. Highly recommend the panther platform.
Every Ford/Lincoln/Mercury product I've ever had, I did nothing but work on them. I bought a 1975 Mercury Cougar XR7 right off the showroom floor. It had a 12/12 warranty. With 13K miles on it I had to put another tranny in it. It came from the factory with a C-4 transmission behind a 351 Cleveland engine. My 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL, with a 390 engine got 10 mpg, no matter how you drive. I was always working on the brakes. The best one I had was a 1965 Mustang.
I worked at the plant that built them and have video's on you tube taken there. Look up Gary Manley Crown Vic. It was discountinued because of the new roll over law, and it was too heavy to keep the roof from collapsing. The 2 months of 2012's all went to the Middle East.
I have a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis with 320,000 miles on it. Runs like a dream. Original motor, transmission. I have the oil changed every 3,000 miles without fail. Love my car!
I drove an 88 marquis for the better part of 10 years that I bought for 500 bucks and it had over 350k miles on it. That car ran and ran and ran and ran. Blew a quarter sized hole in the tailshaft taking it cross country and had to leave it due to time constraints, but the motor still ran like a dream. I swear by grand marquis.
Even though I live in Ukraine where you barely can find maybe twenty of them I still enjoy driving my MGM '92. I really have no idea how many miles is she as odo was broken when I bought it. However every single button is working perfectly including climate and rear defrost) and yeah she has those amazing bench seats in the front. Amazing car and I really love her! American cars are the best!
These American cars are the best. We need to go back to making gas guzzling metal cars with aggressive styling. These battery powered plastic go karts make me angry.
I have a 90 box body marquis with original motor and trans. 10 years ago it had over 300,000 miles. Who knows what it has now but It still drives strong and takes my abuse
Sounds like a fantastic car! I’m 47 and I’ve got an 08 LS with 70,250 miles and I love it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zfLZFHXKku4.html
Just watch out for the plastic intake manifold that would leak where the alternator bracket bolts into the intake manifold. Ford had to redesign the intake with a revised metal area at the alternator bracket. My 98 has 120k and gets 21 on the road.
The guy I'm buying mine from this weekend told me he already replaced it and mentioned that it was a common issue. I had the same issue i my 04 Lincoln, you'd think they would have figured it out by then.
It’s like my ‘99 Crown I bought new with every option I could get, have 13k miles on it still smells new. I finally retired the original battery this year. Stored in winters and barely drive it keeping it perfect for who lol
Scotty: I have the Ford version, Crown Victoria. I changed the tranny fluid four years ago. Now I need to do it again. I was thinking of using Castrol tranny fluid after changing the filter and dumping a quarter of the fluid. I do not go to those suck and run oil change joints. Thanks, David
Cheap insurance. Drop the pan and replace the filter. Replace 4 quarts of tranny fluid with Mercon V in 2008 and older Crown Vics. Newer ones take Mercon LV. I don't use Valvoline.
Wow, owned by a little old lady from Pasadena apparently. That’s the best find I’ve ever heard of for a 21 year old car. Only 1500 miles. Giant score !!
My 1st Mercury was a 91. Great car..... Then a 2007, great car, got wrecked, couldn’t find another one for a good price, so I got a 2011, Ford police Crown Vic. It has been great so far.
Best decision we have made buying one. Parts are stupid cheap, easy to fix, dead reliable and most importantly comfortable when driving for extended periods of time. The interior is cheap though and driving in the city it sucks fuel.
I still love mine. Bought a 2010 Marquise LS Ultimate in 2015 with 28k miles. Have 38k now, and runs like a top. The air ride is like driving a plush leather couch down the highway. And yes, he's right, I get 28 mpg easy on the highway, drops to 20 to 21 city.
Sounds like you have an amazing car! Congratulations, congratulations! I’m loving mine just as much. They’re great cars and I’m happy to have purchased a really good one before they stopped making them.
I had a 1999... sold it and strangely regretted it. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago... bought a 2006 with 64k, not a scratch, perfect paint, new tires and LOVE this thing!!!
Just picked up a 2006 and it only has 22,000 miles on the clock, it is immaculate. It is the unlimited edition and looks brand new inside and out. Just purrs when it goes down the road. Has every option. It’s FOR SALE. Hit me up
I bought a 2001 in March of 06 for $7,000. Still driving it today. I saved so much money by not having a car payment for 16 years and only regular maintenance. Oh, had to replace radiator and fan after hit something on freeway at night.
my boy bought one,i call it the limo,he calls it go fast,he only drives it when he's i a hurry,he takes it state to state,it gets 26 mpg, at 75 mph,all day ,its nice and its better than anyting detroit has come up with in a while,MERCURY rocks
These cars are built like a tank. But they won’t necessarily run forever like Scotty says. I am on my third crown Victoria, these cars have a known flaw in the top manifold that was made with a thin aluminum and plastic portion that tends to easily blow. Should have stayed as all aluminum. Anyways there was a suit against Ford and for a number of years they were being replaced. Of course that ended about a year before mine blew, a number of years back. Anyways my current 2003 started leaking coolant from the manifold seal where it meets the engine block, after sitting for about two years ( in doors garage). But this car was totally babied. And 88,000 miles is quite low for a 2003 in the year 2022. And like I said very babied and easily driven. Repair will be about $1500 when you include the engine flush and new coolant for about $180. Anyways. I still like them a lot. Good luck with yours.
Yea its a common issue in these 4.6s. I just had mine replaced after owning it for 10 years and putting 97k on it. Has 140k on it now. Bought it when it had about 43k on it. Very dependable cars. Might not run forever but damn close lol.
I've had to replace those manifolds before because they would give out just below the t-stat housing. If you can find a wrecked police cruiser with that engine just buy the manifold and install it. Ford had to eat a lot of crow over that design issue on a lot of cruisers. My 00 merc still has the factory intake on it and no leaks so far.
10:57 one of many favorite things about these cars their ground clearance is great compared to modern cars and some SUVs these can hop curbs incase to get out a hairy situation
Absolutely!! I agree completely! I took it for a real nice drive today on the highway for about an hour. It was fantastic! ru-vid.comjiycxYmbd7w?feature=share
Mine is the 95 Town Car. It’s got 200,000 miles and I have had to fix a few things before I could brag about it but it’s got cold a/c, quiet suspension and runs and drives like a million dollars worth of body on frame luxury. Loving it!
I have an '04 with 190k on it. It still runs great, but New England winter salt has taken its toll. Parts of the frame are rusted, and body panels are rusting from the inside. Last year I bought an '07 with only 26k on it. It's been garaged and regularly washed and has almost no underside decay.
I miss my 2011 town car 😢. Kinda want to cop another one in the near future for the cheaper side. Any panther platform car or even a 2005 lesabre or something. Something to add my miles on instead of everything on my pickup
Thanks scotty i love my 03 grand marquis gs it has 107,000 and runs like new ive invested over 10,000 into very fast. Changed the rear end to a posi eaton tru trac 4:10 gear dual exhaust. Best car ever made by mercury
My parents have a marquis and it’s very beautiful. It’s been beat to hell tho been in so many car crashes and only bad problem it had was replacing the transmission after we crashed It the trans started being weird 😅
I have owned many and currently have a 2000 GM w/109K and a 2003 CV w/55K and yes they are excellent cars. I have however never gotten 28 on the highway and get 14/15 in town. I live in Phoenix and feel a necessity to drive a large SAFE car as the chance of being involved in a serious accident is 41% hourly !
I just scored an 04 crown Vic LX sport. 97,000 original miles purchased from the original owner. I never even knew such a vehicle existed till I saw this basically a Ford Marauder leather bucket seats floor shift console air suspension one of $3,335 produced 😁
I got 3...2 of them2004 I just put 18s mustang gt wheels....the other one I got is 03 marauder....just change the wheels to 19s cobra wheels(2018)...and a turbo
Got me one of them. Engine runs fine, probably should get it checked. Plus other things like suspension and breaks should be checked. But for having over 160k miles it runs good enough for this high school student
I got an 05 ultimate edition four yrs ago, had 61k on it, has 75 on it now. Air ride on back was swapped to shocks, because one the bags blew out, cheaper for shock conversion than to replace bag system. Very nice ride.
Just got me one from a one owner with right at 58k miles. Few dings but for 4800 bucks it’s a steal. I was wanting a new car but the way the market is I couldn’t justify purchasing a brand new vehicle then God blessed me with this one!
Tires on it and it’s driving like a dream Mike! Car was sitting up awhile which is usually never good but the check engine light came on saying vent issue so I thought it was a loose gas cap. Turns out it’s hard to pump fuel. We scanned the car again and think the evap system on the fuel tank is clogged or dirty. I’m gonna take it off, tear it apart, and clean it all up when I get off the road and have a day off. That should solve the issue and be able to pump gas normally
I've had 2 Lincoln Town Cars in the past and without question they truly were the best cars ever made. I've had Mercedes,BMW and Toyota and they fail in comparison especially in dependability repair /maintenance cost comfort and resale value . it was truly the end of an era when Lincoln said goodbye to these special cars in 2011. So If your lucky enough to still own a crown Victoria or Lincoln town car take excellent care it and know and really appreciate what a true classic this all American full sized luxury sedan was all about!!
Had a 96 GM (in 2003). One by one all the power window regulators or the regulators and the actuator cables went bad. Replaced with recycled parts (used to be called junkyard parts). Also, the coolant manifold--which was made of plastic--developed a leak and lost all coolant while driving. Was able to "limp" home, turning it off and allowing the engine to cool every few miles--and the engine was not ruined! The replacement coolant manifold was aluminum. No more worries about a plastic part on top of a hot engine developing issues. The driver seat became very uncomfortable: lost its cushioning due to age.
I’m noticing a lot of people are posting comments about the plastic manifold and issues that they had with that. I never knew this, so I’m gonna have to check with my mechanic.
Can't beat a Panther with air suspension for a long distance driving. I've had 5 of them now, got 500K miles on my 95 Town Car. As long as you keep up on the oil the motor will last forever. The 4r70w transmission will last forever with no maintenance. There are quirks and issues, just like anything, but they are easy to work on and parts are cheap. If you need to carry a lot of gear you can't beat it.
Im a 17 year old kid. I'm looking to purchase a panther platform car for my first car. If cops, cab drivers, fancy chauffeurs, and my grandma who drove an old LTD back in the day can trust this platform, I think I can too. So many old people bought these things so they're everywhere! I just gotta convince my parents that these things are actually good cars.
I think that’s a great plan! You should have your parents watch this video. Shop around because there are lots of these vehicles out there and you wanna make sure you find one with fairly low mileage and well taken care of. If you have a mechanic that you trust it’s worth $50 or $100 to have it checked out thoroughly so don’t make a mistake and buy the wrong vehicle. You should know that these vehicles don’t get the best gas mileage, but they cruise like Cadillacs. They are just so smooth and have such torque and high end speed/performance. Good luck to you and let me know how things worked out.
Oh I am aware of the gas mileage. I know how expensive fuel is these days lol. Anything that’s full size, heavy, and V8-powered is bound to be a little thirsty for gas. But it’s at least better than a truck or an SUV. I’m not a fan of huge vehicles. A full-size sedan is about as big as I’ll go. I just feel like these cars “fit me.” I can’t explain it. I’ll definitely have my parents look into the purchase of one of these. One of the main driving factors for me is cost. Crown Vics. Grand Marquis, and Town Cars are relatively cheap. Safety is my mom’s biggest concern, but I’m not too worried about safety. It’s got airbags. My dad *did* tell me that he isn’t really keen on having me drive around grandma’s land yacht because he isn’t familiar with the brand’s design motifs. We’re a Honda family, so getting a Ford is for sure out of his comfort zone. But, I think the benefits of owning a panther-platform car outweigh the drawbacks. I plan on purchasing one of these things with my own money too. Gotta show them I’m responsible. My brother is tired of waiting for my mom to come pick us up from school so me having a personal means of transportation would definitely make things easier for my mom.
