The addiction is getting worse, but my foot is getting better. The surgery went well, and doc says I should be sorta kinda mountain biking by Spring. Stay tuned for new things in Moonshangle Thickets!
We all hope you get well soon. And don’t rush your recovery to much to the point where you hurt yourself. Thanks for still putting out awesome content giving the circumstances.
I can’t thank you enough Seth! My boy and I headed out to HobbyTownUsa yesterday and picked up the C10 and the Deadbolt! Spent all day in the woods with these awesome little crawlers! Upgrades are on their way! You Sir, rock!
@@wasabisdaddy I really wanna write "well no shit sherlock" but I'm going to be nice. He's been recovering for quite some time now. I partially torn my tendons in my right knee last year, which led to "only" 5 months of resting the leg. Which I am bad at, since when I broke my thumb at 10 yrs old, I rode bmx in skatepark for 14 days with the cast on my left wrist... 5 months of riding a bike using my left leg (cause I'm just stubborn and my arms are too weak to handle walking on crutches to and from college), and my right leg got to about three quarters of the size it was before. Quite literally. I have jeans, that are slim fit, which fit me almost as leggings would. After the 5 months, they were loose around my right leg with about a 3-4cm gap...
The cycle starts again. I see a similar interest and level of passion here. Keep it up! Owned my first full suspension for about a year now and you got me thinking of my first RC car!
100% agree on getting the small-scale first! I recently got one, I wanted to get the 1/10 trx4 so bad. But all in, that's at least 600 bucks when you factor in the cost of the battery & the charger if you don't already own one. I picked up a 1/24th scale instead, had literally everything I needed in the box to run it as soon as I got home, even came with batteries for the radio. It's a blast to set up little courses using random household objects in my living room, but truthfully I really don't use it that often, so I'm glad I didn't shell out six or seven hundred bucks on the 1/10 scale. I think I'm going to get one eventually, I do have a few places near me that would be fantastic for a large scale crawler, but I'll wait till the weather gets better.
I’ve been doing RC crawling since I was eight and not gonna lie it’s been so much fun, also just funny to see a tiny car go like seventy degrees upwards on a rock bed and make it over easy.
Me: those RCs look like a fun indoor activity during these days, I'll buy one. Seth : They come with a bunch of extra parts and accessories. Me : oh, no, here we go again...
Have a traxxas summit. something like a 1\8 monster truck. Bit more of a basher than a crawler, but does come with a low gear... And drive train and suspension is more or less all after market parts now after snapping or twisting various parts due to the twin motor setup, have a set of tracks to throw on, those cost a fair bit.. Yah, fun hobby xD
I just wanna say thanks Seth. I was watching the rc crawler videos and soon after I bought a 12 scale rc Jeep for around $70 on Amazon and it is my new favorite pass time. I think the rc content is a good idea. Keep it up. 👍
So Seth, I just got my first 1:24 crawler and I have to admit, you're absolutely right, the amount of fun you can have in such a small space with a micro is awesome! I have 1:10 scale cars including an Axial SCX10 Trail Honcho but today for the fun of it I bought an Enduro24 Sendero Trail Truck. Great little truck.
I will be honest with you. Every bike related stuff is really not my cup of tea, but every RV video I've seen from you are pure gold. Keep it up man. I bought my first crawler last week, SCX24 Wrangler. Amazing beast.
I always get sooooo exited when I see you uploaded. Hope your doing well. Also fun tip you can unplug the lights for the desk so you don’t get blinded.
French class can wait, I already know all this shit. Je pense que je comprend plus de français que professor qui instruite le course. Blah blah imparfaite et passer composer
I’m so glad you got into rcs. I was literally thinking one day..... can u imagine if this guy got his hands on some rcs. And then the next day literally u came out with a micro crawler vid. Now look at ya. Ur obsessed like me lol!!
One thing nice about the micros, is if you want to take your crawler on a vacation, or camping trip. A micro, along with the tools, batteries, and spare parts you need can easily fit in a small duffle bag, suitcase, or backpack. On a vacation I took, I hauled my original SCX10 with me, and it was a big heavy pain in the butt. Everything was in a big carrying bag, but since I took a Greyhound Bus to my destination, as I don't have a real car, lugging that thing around to the crawling locations by foot wasn't fun. Had I took a much smaller, and lighter mini, or micro crawler I would have had a lot more fun, as carrying around a big 1/10 scale crawler felt more like work, and a chore, than relaxing.
@@8.21productions9 Traxxas sent him some crawlers and an XMAXX as far as we know. However, to start out with a car that is fast and can jump, (aka not a crawler), you don’t want to spend that much money. The XMAXX is $$$$. The Slash would be a good entry point vehicle, and I’m sure would get numerous people into RC’ing.
@@Diego-eh2nm yes, that’s true, I do a bit of RC driving myself, I just kinda love cars and so naturally I want to call them by certain names but I guess yes, trx6 would be the more correct and technical way of saying it, and the shell around the RC car isn’t that important. But dang the car looks cool.
Had to have surgery on my hand and I’ve been out of bike riding for five months now. I got into RC cars doing speed runs by watching one of your RC jumping videos. Keep it up!!
The best part about the big ones is they’re easy to work on and you can make them more your own. Motors, drivetrain, gear ratios, suspension, wheels, etc are much easier to upgrade
Hey just wanted to say this video was really useful! Been contemplating getting my first crawler and immediately was thinking 1/10th of all the reasons you mention without thinking about the negatives. Now looking at 1/18th to start with so I can use it more in doors. Thanks again!
I dont care if its bike related, I love old school bike makeovers actual shredding or this new RC stuff. Regardless I'd watch everything you do. It's so well produced and always entertaining
Dude, I'm a huge RC nut, but got into bikes not too long ago and I subscribed to your awesome channel. But I see that you've been reviewing Rc's too, I love you man!
I personally started with 1/10 as there wasn’t much options in the 1/24. I had 9 big crawlers before I bought my first micro crawler, and man are they good! In my opinion, they are more enjoyable (depending on the terrain) than some of my 10th scale. I have 11 micros crawlers now, still an addiction
Another thing, at the lower weight and lower speeds that these go at, you won’t break parts as harshly or as often. My traxxas broke pretty quickly and haven’t fixed it since.
Everyone that’s been asking me what rig I would recommend ALWAYS gets me with the same answer as yours. Get a tiny crawler, you won’t be out of a lot of money AND you can take it literally EVERYWHERE
A lot of the RC crawler guys I talk to at our local shop actually come from the full size comp crawler scene but are tired of all the costs associated with a real life rig.
I cannot thank you enough for this video. This perspective is super helpful and completely breaks me out of stuck mode as I try to get into RC Crawling. This was just incredibly helpful.
Thanks for sharing these crawl videos. Reminding me of years ago when my late father tried seeing if my brother and I would be interested in these as kids. Now that I’m a much bigger kid I kinda wanna try again.
Seth I just bought a 2021 marlin 5 and I also have the traxxes slash and I love riding some where with my bike and then driving my rc car on the way when I find some cool rc car spots Keep up the amazing content
Once I understood the 24s i got my 10. Now that I understand I'm getting my 6 next. It's crazy how much fun u can have learning and understanding these rigs alone let alone driving them. RC is the best hobby I've picked up again since I was a child.
i would suggest a 1/10 over a micro. much more capable and easier to work on for beginners. furthermore the 1/24 scale are wayy more prone to breaking.
A huge hurdle for me about RU-vid is you are kind of stuck to a certain topic once you establish a audience. Burns me out before I have even ever started, I can appreciate that you have gone out on a limb here and covered something totally different. Very much respect man. Now I have to buy a micro crawler.
I just picked up my first crawler a few weeks ago. The scx24, this video is spot on. I'm going to finish upgrading the bronco and move on to the trx4 bronco.
so I watched this one when it first aired and thought "cool, but I don't need new hobby" well I'm now into week six of a seperated shoulder and on my 2nd rc truck, my wife thinks I'm nuts. but I have to say it's been a real morale boost. I'm not sure when I can ride again but at least I have something to occupy my time and feel like I'm doing something. thanks Seth
After a number of Seth's RC videos, I too have become hooked on RC... Bought my first truck last week, broke the body and the steering. Thanks Seth, for continuing to spend my money for me!
Well I pulled the trigger and got a micro....needless to say...I will be get another as well as these hobbies are just so cool! I have been looking for an SCX24 but they are just not available with the demand and went with the Element Enduro24 and installed sealed bearings to replace the bushings. It is a fun time when I need a break from work.
9:40 love that crawl at the end - those are the best when you're at the perfect angle that the front wheels juuust come up but it still manages to stick. And you just hear the motor workin' hard to keep it going haha
You say 'they' have these little wrenches - what you really mean is 'we' have these little wrenches. Welcome to the RC family Seth. It will live with you forever. Sometimes it will control you. It is always fun. Happy crawling from Derbyshire (home to some very mighty rocks)
Got a UTB18 Capra last summer, and I love it! So much tinkering to do if you want, and if you use it slow and steady as crawlers should, then it's almost no repairs needed, unlike previous basher RC's I've had in the past.
