floaters can also easily die of if not enough nutrients in the water column as mostly they feed out of the water. if you get too many floaters they will block the light to your plants bellow, so keep an eye on that :D Good video, keep it up
Also pest snails LOVE frogbit and water lettuce. They munch on the underside and kill off the leaves. As a result I employ the good old pick and flick method for the little darlings!
Thank you it seems water lettuce is the one that lives here (for a minute)but these tips are great I got some glowy leaves I cut off a fake plant up there so everything doesn’t rotate all around overnight and get them wet , what the heck is that 😂 I have not tried killing duckweed yet ! ❤
It is kind of an achivement to kill duckweed as it is used to be immortal but whatever...let's back to topic! I cannot have rimless tanks because I have a very curious female cat with normal predatory instincts, but I have amazon frogbit, a good ammount. I just want to add to the topic an info. In my 20 gallon tank the neon light is normal level and yellow-ish color, there the frogbit is big and the leaves are beautiful green. Next to that I have a 7 gallon tank, there the light is stronger, half white half yellow-ish, the frogbit grows same way as in the big one, but the leaves are less green, somehere even white. I've never seen anything like this during my 20 years of fishkeeping. Did you? And if yes, then what can be the source of problem, is it disease or just the neon is trash in the 7g ?
Firstly, I love how you started this comment 😂 I did see my duckweed turn a white right before it died. So that’s probably the case with yours. If the light in your 7 gal isn’t full spectrum and came with the tank it is likely not enough for the plants.
I stopped trying to figure out why my frogbit rots and dies, because it makes my head hurt. I treat all my tanks the same (same tank size, same filtration, same Easy Green dosage, same lid, same temp, same stocking), yet the frogbit reacts differently in each tank. Some go MONTHS looking perfect, then all of a sudden have a literal meltdown. Now when they look like crap I throw them out. I then go and grab some from my other tanks where they do not look like crap and start over. Easy peazy. This hobby isn't supposed to be stressful, but it is! lol
