On Today's Episode:
Living the good life, is pretty much at the top of everyone’s list. The problem is that nearly everyone is making decisions and acting in ways that don’t lead to their version of a good life they wish they had. To call it self-sabotage seems like an understatement.
In this round of talks with Tom, we have Will, Noelle, and George digging deeper with questions about what it takes to create a good life you’re excited for every day.
After building a billion dollar unicorn company, and investing years of transparency to bring value to people, like yourself, at scale, Tom Bilyeu is very clear and direct on exactly what it takes for you to succeed at whatever level you want to aim for.
Key ideas from this episode you don’t want to miss:
Top 5 behaviors and mental traps that lead to miserable life
How to let go of beliefs holding you back
The trade offs of being a Jack of all trades or the master of one
How to use distraction as a tool of productivity
Why your life is a reflection of your choices not your circumstances
Hearing some of these things can sting, but when you prioritize the good life over what makes you feel good right now, you take the sting and get focused on what you want, how you’ll get there, and getting relentlessly obsessed with taking massive actions everyday until you get ther.
QUOTES:
“Recognize that you are a deeply flawed individual that is holding yourself back, that your life is a reflection entirely of your choices and not your circumstances, and if you’re not happy with that that means you’re doing something wrong.”
“I remind myself in business all the time, my current skill set has already taken me as far as it’s going to take me, and so if I want to go farther I have to get better. But if you don’t believe that you can get better, then you won’t put in the energy and effort into getting better.”
“If you don’t have a massive amount of resilience you are really in trouble.”
“The act of going ham is so intoxicating, it’s so fun, that it is the juice.”
“People underestimate the complexity of a habit.”
“You need a maniacal focus, you need to be lasered in on one thing and you do it to the abstraction of everything else and you do it obsessively to the point where everything else in your life ideally is falling apart…”
“Ultimately my advice to people is to chase fulfillment.”
“That is what self awareness is, you can finally see yourself the way other people see you.”
“Rules, values, and desire are wildly underutilized.”
“Obsession will hurt and it will be unhealthy unless you realize that you can get better…”
“Love trumps everything I’ve been through in my life.”
“My marriage is great because we work on it every single day.”

You want a kid, I just can't believe youre done thinking this one through. Did you know that the estradiol that men produce is converted to estrogen in the brain? Maybe you are sitting on a decision without taking action my friend. Yes you and your wife will fight at times if you're like the rest of us. So interview people about who stays happy and do those things. Wouldn't it be amazing to impact parents with your efforts? Why are you denying yourself something you say is the entire point of life? Can you design a Disney without a child muse? Do you realize how many insights youll gain? It sounds like you're also worried about the internal conflicts parents face, but it looks like you're already rehearsing internal conflict now.

This is the first time, I am hearing Tom Bilyue saying 'I can't' when referring to something he wants.. That's quite contractory to what you've preached in the past. For someone who goes through life with a hardcore mindset.. It would be super exciting and a huge learning phase if you ever decide to have the impossible; "Having children and a smashing career".. I think that the Tom, who is exposed to a new fountain of knowledge would be super inspiring... But just as you have dealth with all the downsides of not having children, i believe we will all deal with not having tom inspire us in that way... Stay blessed sire!!

hey tom! you talked about how the channel could be bigger if you only interviewed one type of person or sector for the entirety of the youtube channel, but IMO, the fact that you touch on so many different areas of life/business/mindset is why i keep coming back. i love that i can learn about investing in one episode then pop over to relationship theory and hear your wonderful stories about you and lisa. or hear about motivational strategies and mindset for building brands in a different episode. even though the topics and people change, you are the centerpiece of the channel and its wonderful! i’ve noticed a growing trend of businesses and creators doing more than just one thing in their line of work and i honestly love it.

1:11, this point about reflexively and without awareness only chasing what makes you feel good really hits home. Been coming to terms with this lately. Eh, not wanting to go to the gym because I gotta lift weak weights. 5:21, Resilience is key to this point above. You have to be able to shake it off when life shows you just how much you currently suck. Constantly. 10:50, question, how do you unlearn the beliefs that are holding you back? Tom's answer, referencing the neuroscience, is eye opening. 21:30, Buddhist monks know that desire leads to suffering. Tom disagrees with their conclusions about it. He chooses desire. The Buddhist path isn't for him. It doesn't energize him. -> also see 27:58 41:25, How Tom handles distraction

That is so diabolical and narcissistic to say if I am going to mess with someone I will make sure they don't sleep, they don't exercise, they don't digest..... Basically mess up the body, how devoid of empathy that is!! You do realize this is done through emotional abuse, and millions of people get sick because of some family member doing this to them! Can't express how disgusted I am by hearing this because I myself have been subjected to this by my own dad, very well knowing this is what this is directed at, so I can't flourish! Can't imagine anyone doing this because it is literally an alternative to killing someone without any weapon, I don't wish that on my greatest enemy. Just because you are disregulated you think the other person who is triggering you deserves to die?!
