@@chumblesthecheese8580No, and their food sucks, I’ve been to one back in the 90s. If you’ve been to one, you’ve been to them all. Shut them all down…people can’t afford places like this anymore.
There's some awful people in this comments section. Several people abruptly lose their jobs through no fault of their own, and there's jokers here like "too bad, so sad" just because they're Hooters girls or single moms. First of all, so what if they work at Hooters? They still deserve some respect for putting up with asshole patrons day in-day out. Secondly, there's more than just the Hooters girls working there.
About six months before the pandemic, I went to a Hooters. I was "auditioning" restaurants to find one to watch college football in. I wasn't treated very well. I had selected a regular sized table/chair because it was central and I could watch TV's basically in a circle. Three waitresses argued, amongst themselves, that I wasn't in anyone's "area" and finally one gave in and decided to wait on me. Also, I wasn't hip to downloading an app to see a menu and the waitress had to go find an actual old school menu for me. The waitress was clearly very busy with other tables and ended up handing me off to another waitress that came on duty. It was a very off putting experience and I won't return to Hooters.
One experience with three girls is not a good way to judge an entire chain, but if I had experienced it, I wonder if I might have felt the same way, I might have.
@@mikeg3439 Parts of the story I left out is: 1) I am now crippled. It is difficult, at best, to haul myself up onto a stool. It is far easier to sit at a more traditional chair and table. 2) I'm not thrilled with items on the menu. I found a sports bar with a truly awesome chicken sandwich (a variation of this is the same chicken breast with mashed potatoes and corn as a dinner). 3) Other sports bars have copied the model of having waitresses in skin tight uniforms and I've been to Hooters on and off for 30+ years.
There's no way corporate had no idea this was in the works. This is really messed up. Not the closure itself...that's business. It's the zero notice part, that makes no sense.
That was a room FULL of bad decisions. Tatted-up single moms working entry-level positions intended for college girls that they thought would provide a dependable "living wage." Good grief!
If you ever want to use a place as a reference, it’s customary & professional to give a two week notice. I’ve had places in the past I won’t even hire you, unless you give your employer two weeks notice. Or they’ll think you’re gonna do that to them.
@@MikeCee7 I understand what you're saying but these are people in the Service Industry. NOBODY is going to waste time or money checking their references. I think the employer should have to pay them, the cooks and the rest of the employees a severance .
@@ihaveinsomnia1 of course. I agree they should’ve got paid some sort of severance pay. If they were only working at Hooters for 3 months (or any other restaurant for that short period of time) no big deal to quit whenever you want. But if you’re at a place for a year or two, and you apply for a new job, many reputable employers want to do employment checks on all your last seven years of employment. So you can easily say “hey for 3 months I wasn’t working, I was in college taking classes.” But if you’re 25, and more two years and I am restaurant job, and burn your bridge, it possibility can affect your future employment.
HOOTER’S. The land of push up bras, greasy wings, lousy burgers, warm flat beer, and ripped pantyhose with stains on them. It’s amazing that they are still in business.
Homely and fat girls were all I saw the last time in a Hooters in Florida 10 years ago... We can go home and look at our wives if we want to see that...
I have always had good food at Hooter’s and some of the coldest beer anywhere. The wings are really good and so are the burgers. I doubt you ever even went to a Hooter’s before, or if you did, you got shit down by some of the waitresses and hood a grudge.
@@TheCrazyMoparDude68 I went to the Hooters on Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, New York every Thursday night after my softball league games when I played Over 40 softball. We went there because the team manager was one of those fools who thought the waitress had a thing for him. He didn’t realize that she just wanted us to come in every Thursday night because we were usually a group of 20 who ate and drank a lot and tipped well. The food sucked and the beer sucked. The Hooters is now closed. I guess I’m not the only one who thought the place sucked. I guess that the other thing is that here on Long Island we know what a good sports bar is really like. We don’t need a chain store based on breasts and lousy wings.
We are creeping toward depression at this point if we aren't already there..homeless encampment EVERYWHERE..like Hoovervilles in the depression...all the signs are here
All of these poor and distraught girls who are filled with expensive tattoos. I see this all the time with this group. Unmarried mothers, tattoos, uneducated, no job skills, housing issues and high job instability. Get yourself together young ladies and hold yourself to better standards. These life paths you embark upon have serious consequences that don’t have to happen. Make better choices.
@@wanderingweh405 I’m not hating on anyone, that’s not my style. The manager who lost his job at this restaurant has the best opportunity along with the cooks. Waitresses are going to be a thing of the past because nobody can afford to pay them when technology can. These young girls need to gather some self esteem, self-respect and motivation to work in this new economy. They need to start by making better life choices Every family probably has someone who is in the same position. Most of those are help rejecting. May God touch them with his love and guidance.
@@heystarfish100 the servers often make more than the mgrs and they always make more than the cooks. There are 10 servers or more for every cook. I served tables in the 90s and I had self- respect, esteem and motivation. I bet you're a bad tipper. May God touch you and help you with less judgement, love and guidance.
Nonsense. When this chain started up, we didn't have the internet, Instagram, OnlyFans, etc. Most of the attractive women don't work regular jobs anymore. That includes Hooters.
That's a lot of it, but a lot of blame is on Hooter's. Adapt or die. Years ago I think they changed their chickens to something more meaty, but this was actually bad because you need the right mix of batter, skin, meat, and spices for them to be good. I could no longer just pull the bones right out of the wings and eat them; for example. They stuck with the same national brands of beer. Cheaper I guess, but not nearly as good. Seeing that at the taps, I walked out for the last time.
@@kevingray8616I’m here for this convo!. New place down the road from me has huuuge wings. I thought that’d be great but there is too much meat, not enough surface area, and because they’re not great at wings in the first place the sauce is applied last and it may as well be a dip. I’ll give them another try in a few months when they got their beating but who would have thought you could have too big of wings
The restaurants have priced themselves right out of business. That “Push for $15” has gotten way out of hand, and the people pushing for it is the reason why. The employees demanded it, and now they will wish they would have just let things be. We will see you in the employment lines. The rest of you should take note.
@@nightstick10 The original push for $15 was most everywhere. California went to $20. That’s why restaurants in California are now closing up in many places.
@HD24680 That is for fast food chains with at least 60 branch locations in Cali. The fast food shops with less did not have to go to $20/hour minimum wage, and are still closing. There is something else going on here.
@@DistrustHumanz Well of course something else is going on. Bidenomics has caused uncontrollable Bidenflation and all of America is struggling to get by in this supposed “great” economy. The importation of tens of millions of poor people who will have to be supported for the rest of their lives doesn’t help either. Taxes are being collected in far higher amounts than before, because of inflation and higher income, but that money is being wasted on people that shouldn’t even be here. Joe Biden intends on doubling the number if he is reelected. Unsustainable.
@@StephenStrangeX My bad indeed it’s definitely the inflation. I don’t care what state you live in. Inflation is a tax . And the middle class disposable income is up in smoke. That’s why businesses close .
The CEO sold the business to private equity firm because CEO couldn't get a credit/loan from the original bank to cover operational cost. Same with Dead Lobster. Private equity firms borrows from shadow bank, who borrowed from the original bank. The bank in turn gains by taking back the property as liability asset and selling securities. All loses are covered by government bailouts. All loans are securities in US T bills. The bank receives asset and interest accrued for profit, this is fractional reserve banking.
@Вивсівідстій guys that go in there ate the type that girls won't even give them a chance, tip good eat your burg snd drive down the hiwsy fantasizing, well it's free then except if you tip good, those waitresses remembervthe good tippers ,certainly not the waffle house!
Problem is Hooters started working with Doordash and UberEats. You're getting some fat guy named DANIEL delivering your Hooters, which is completely opposite of what Hooters even is about. Went from Hooters to Pooters, real quick.
The quality of the Hooters experience has declined so very much over the last couple decades that im surprised we havent seen far more of them close down. It used to be a place your woman wouldnt want you anywhere near, but now they see the low quality so they dont care if you go there. Lousy over priced food served by very average wait staff.... No thanks.
Back in the day( about a decade ago) , when I went to my local hooters, u would see at least 3,4 hotties, now , barely one, I guess the hot ones, r on only fans , ( easier money)
You don’t have to give 2 weeks notice. Now the employer may have it that you can’t be rehired if you don’t and you may not get a good reference, however an employer can’t force you to work.
Welcome to the restaurant business. But don't call in sick, cover your shift and all the BS and this is the way business's treat their staff. But workers are expected to give 100%. Tough to be loyal to an inanimate Corporation. They don't give AF about U.
You noticed the common thread with all those women in there is their single mothers If you’re a single mother and depending on hooters for your income, you’re doing it wrong
To be honest, since #METOO hit the scene, I thought this chain was going to massively downsize a HELL of a lot faster than this. That and modern culture telling young men that they should be ashamed for having testosterone.
Companies don't care about their employees. It's only good to give two weeks notice because you may want your job back some day and it's best to leave on good terms.
What brought hooters down was Inviting them little snots.(Kids) Also wemen (mostly lesbians)started Eating down there. The fall of Hooters. But more of the kids tho.
Also if you give notice, most of the employees will simply not show up and leave you unable to serve your customers until the final day. It would be nice if the companies would give them 2 weeks pay, but not all restaurants can afford to do that, especially the ones that are having to close because of lack of funds. People don’t realize that many restaurants pay for what they need with the profits they hope to make. Meaning that the food and ingredients they buy for this month will be paid from the profits that they made of the month and paid for next month. It only takes being closed for a couple weeks to get upside down financially. And since they are closing because of poor business, there is a good chance that they are already behind financially.
Why are these former employees still wearing their shirts and advertising for the company that has pulled the rug out from under them? If the company didn't already line up guaranteed job offers for them at other locations, then why bother offering for them to apply within 30 days?
To be fair, this chain has not renewed itself in over 15 years and that despite of new competition... We will miss you. My favourite restaurant back in high school...
This should not be on the news... Same thing if the drummer of Twisted Sisters had a baby or if the Chucky Cheese band would be reunited. Only in USA...
You're being a "single mom" is your own fault & problem, nothing to be proud of. The one girl though nailed it.. if employers want a 2 wk notice, corporate knew for at least 2 wks @ the closing.
