Stay Calm: The first and most important step is to remain as calm as possible. Panic can make it difficult to think clearly and execute the necessary techniques.
Identify the Type of Choke: Chokeholds can be applied from various angles and positions. Determine if it's a front choke (attacker in front of you) or a rear choke (attacker behind you) as the escape techniques may differ.
Protect Your Neck: While attempting to escape, use your hands to protect your neck. Create a barrier with your hands, making it harder for the attacker to tighten their grip.
Breathe: Conserve your energy and breathe as evenly as possible. Shallow breaths can lead to exhaustion and make it easier for the attacker to overpower you.
Front Choke Escape:
a. Grab and Pin: Reach up and grab the attacker's wrist or hands that are choking you.
b. Drop Your Weight: Lower your body weight by bending your knees to create leverage.
c. Turn Your Hips: Twist your hips to the side, creating space to escape the choke.
d. Counterattack: Once you've escaped, counterattack to create distance and escape to safety.
Rear Choke Escape:
a. Protect Your Neck: Immediately tuck your chin to prevent the attacker from fully locking in the choke.
b. Grab the Attacker's Hands: Reach behind you and try to grab the attacker's hands or wrists.
c. Drop Your Weight: Bend your knees and drop your body weight to create leverage.
d. Rotate and Escape: Twist your hips to one side while pulling down on the attacker's hands to break the hold.
e. Counterattack: After breaking free, swiftly counterattack and create distance.
Practice Regularly: Self-defense techniques require practice. Consider enrolling in a self-defense class to learn and refine these skills under the guidance of an instructor.
Mental Preparedness: Remember that self-defense is not just about physical techniques. Be mentally prepared to defend yourself, and trust your instincts.
Use Your Voice: Yell for help while defending yourself. Drawing attention to the situation can deter the attacker and bring assistance.
Seek Professional Help: After escaping a chokehold, seek medical attention if necessary and report the incident to the authorities. Your safety is the top priority.

And what defense do you have when the rear choke guy is not just standing there? What do you when he's dragging you or leaning you.. you have no balance, no leverage. You're literally hanging.. what do you do?

Pray, unless you have diligently trained enough to avoid that situation or learned how to get away. You will not learn from watching videos.

You can always count on Jimbo with the announcements.

What do you do when they don't forget about their other hand or actually put effort into it? I want to see this done on a non-compliant opponent that's fighting back.

Do you know how many "what if's", we can come up with? And there are just as many remedies. Train. You will learn a lot of ways to deal with many situations. Every technique has a counter. But you will not learn them all from 1 video. And sometimes your opponent is just better than you. So train consistently. Or be satisfied with not having answers at all.

Two thirds of the time (as is evident in this video) just grow a stupid looking mustache and these techniques will make you a badass.

Best to show just ONE technique, and not a dozen and one variations. Show one technique and break it down. The human brain is built that way, to only absorb one thing at a time. Beside, some people are slow learners.

@@FightFastWe in this community need to understand Hicks Law. And to remember what Bruce Lee said: "I fear not the man who has practised 1,000 techniques, but the man who has practised 1 technique a thousand times".

And yet, even in this comment section, people are asking for more... "But what if the guy does this, or that"... 🙄
