I'm gathering known good information concerning response times of 4 wire A/F sensors and MAF sensors.
Also looking at intake pulls with a Pico WPS pressure transducer.
WPS Transducers and Pico equipment can be found at Autonerdz

Mike, I like that you look at known good! Especially on these new cars. I was also surprised to see the opposite MAF frequency pattern on the Frontier. This is such great information. Thanks for taking the time to capture and share!

Yes, I am a known good addict 😄. Especially on more unconventional testing. Yea the MAF caught me off guard a bit, kinda funny actually! I appreciate the comment, Thanks for watching!

Some really great thoughts you have on the usefulness of this test, please keep thinking out loud! Boy would I love to have one of those micro clamps, they are wildly expensive.

💯 . You are correct very expensive. I bought mine used for a reasonable price. I got lucky.

Mate, I love your videos and I have learned a lot from you. As we all learn from eash other, though, I have ro point out that the Wideband Oxygen sensor readings are the opposite to what you stated in the video. Positive current (above the zero line) menas LEAN. Negative current means RICH. When the engine reved well and you pulled your leg off the accelerator pedal - the moment you call "injectors cut" actually causes the mixture to go RICH (not Lean). The injectors spray a predefined, fixed amount of fuel in this condition (fuel ECU does not look at the O2 readings then). The reason is to avoid mixture getting lean and causing "pops" on deacceleration.😊 As the throttle is fully closed at this moment, there is less air than normal and mixture is Rich. Hence the O2 sensor reading goes sharply negative (Rich) and stays there until engine load increases again and the Idle Valve opens to increase engine speed (to make it Idle). At the other moment, when you sharply pressed the acceliratior pedal, lots of Air entered the engine and the O2 sensor reading went up (Lean). The Fuel ECU compensated a moment later and the O2 reading went back to balanced. Hope that helps. Thank you so much for the effort in putting these videos together and sharing your knowledge.

Thank for the comment, very informative and yes we all learn from each other. I agree with your rich/lean statement regarding the polarity of change positive and negative. The amp clamp that I'm using is direction sensitive like all amp clamps. I simple oriented it to show positive rich and negative lean, it works better visually for me thats all. I was only interested in the speed or reaction time of the feedback system with this video and to practice a bit with my clamp. Thanks again for commenting and keeping me on my toes , great information you have posted.

Awesome video. Good for you to grab your hands on the K110 amp probe. It is an awesome piece of engineering. I live in Europe and already have a pico 4423, but I will upgrade to a 4425 from Autonerdz. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this topics, helps a lot and encourage us to have an open mind and keep on learning

The k110 is very cool, it opens more doors for testing. I was extremely lucky on getting mine used. I'm glad you found the video interesting, keeping an open mind while testing is my exact point, I love trying new and somewhat unconventional methods, it seems to keep the job more interesting. Thanks for commenting .

Very interesting video. Great they let you experiment on some new cars for test subjects. Was particularly impressed with how tps and maf were practically linked together. 2 questions. You mentioned orienting clamp to show amp capture in the way you did. Was that just easier for you to think through it? I was thinking that under rich conditions an A/F sensor would go into negitive ma and vise/versa for lean. Maybe I was wrong?
@CartersDiagnostics
@CartersDiagnostics Год назад
The tps and the maf were almost perfect, I was surprised by that also. As far as the orientation it was just personal preference for it to go positive during rich for me. I'm not sure which way its actually supposed to go, (I think your correct rich is negative) It may also depend on which wire the clamp is around.

Really good info here! Wow! Now you've inspired me to try this on my cars. Question, would a standard low amp clamp work or is that low amp clamp you mentioned something special? I have the ES #695 20/80 amp clamp. Also, I really like the way you think. Testing things now to get a baseline on new vehicles so that you have something to reference down the road when those vehicles have problems. That sounds like genius level stuff to me. God blessed you with a great mind. Thanks for what you share with us.

Wow thanks for the wonderful comment! I don't think a standard "low" amp clamp will work. The k110 can read milli amps very precisely. Its range is 0 to 450 milliamps. Knowledge is power in my opinion, so the more Knowledge I gain from testing new cars I feel it makes me more efficient in the long run. Creating and sharing to a RU-vid community just seems like the right thing to do. Thanks for joining in!

I wonder if one could do a rc test using the vehicles map or turbo boost sensor🤔, something i am going to have to play with. Thank you for the effort and inspiration.
