“My heart was just exploding I had to make it right.” There wasn’t him exploding in anger, but sorrow that he disappointed his brother. It’s wholesome how he puts his brother, someone that no one fears, on such a high pedestal.
It always is something. Seems that the less siblings people have, the closer they are majority of the time, I have seen whole families with dozens of kids who could do nothing but fight all the time, meanwhile just two siblings were close and generally get along, rarely holding grudges. Makes me wish I could turn back the clock to those days I swear.
@@funkmantim2661 Oh few siblings can have closer feelings alright.Including jealousy and hatred.Cain and Able really laid out the blue print for siblings.
@@tingpekang1087 It's an art piece from Damien Hirst who had several exhibits of preserved animals. Presumably the formaldehyde is the point of contention for the scientist brother as it is preserved animal tissue, not a live one.
Hey, I was at Fukishima Japan, and some idiot Whale wanted some revenge for what some whalers did near Antartica. Do I get super powers, no. I get time in a hospital and a prosthetic leg. I am filled with hate, and plan to hunt that whale. It's not hard for me to distinguish it form others. It's white.
Now you see why Wide Whale became a villain. He wanted to procure the best material for his brother's research and help finance and provide for him, but the best resources will often need the most underhanded methods to acquire them.
Chester was already a thief, and possibly a crime boss. Also generally if a person intentionally attempts to mutate or empower themselves they are or will wind up the villain. With the exceptions of heroes restoring their lost powers.
So to make up for disappointing his brother with his complete lack of scientific knowledge...or common sense, he used an experimental machine on himself
Welcome to the world of Saturday Morning Cartoons. Edit: More specifically, Chester decided to use himself as a guinea pig to prove that his brother's research was correct, and try to redeem himself in his brother's eyes.
OK just to inform the non-art people this scene is actually hilarious. The art piece is called "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living" by Damien Hirst, it is indeed a shark inside a giant tank of preservative more or less. This is funny because yes, not only is it insanely expensive, it was widely laughed at by many for being well, a big shark in a tank basically. So Dougy going "this is worthless" is really funny. this is also funny because this entire scene is about how Wide Whale loved his brother who he thinks is dead, even though he isn't. Fucking hilarious.
@@Outlaw7263 Yes that is the joke, to a scientist the preserved (and bisected) shark remains were not worth much. But also its a giant piss on Damien Hirst, which i mean, he deserves it, because yes in reality it really did sell for 12 million.
The only true villain in this story is Damien fucking Hirst. Can't stand that gauche bastard. He and his whole 'New British Artists' movement. Once went to an exhibit of his work at the Boston Museum of Fine Art and I was nearly sick.
the shark thing is a priceless artwork but he wanted a living shark and thats a dead shark preserved in a tank and for a marine biologist defintly useless.
@@CaptainLumpyDog I assume so. It's just that whenever I hear him or am reminded of him I laugh due to The Monarch taking out his vengeance on him while all he was expecting to do was just talk and his last line is "THE CUTTLEFISH"!
@@davinwong4535 Kinda. Hulk was the accidental result of an atomic bomb going of nearby. This origin is actually closer to Doc Samson, who deliberately used excess radiation absorbed from the Hulk.
@@nobodybw1962 It fits the two movie versions of Hulk at least I guess. And the comic version was bombarded with radiation even if it wasn't genetic science or anything.
I like that they never even attempt to reconcile Wide Whale and his brother's accents. One just sounds like a geriatric Jimmy Stewart, and the other is from the outer boroughs.
There a joke about that in the episode, in that Wide Whale is doing an Italian mob stereotype to seem cooler than he is and the show acknowledges that.
"My brother likes fish, so I stole Rosie the abandoned shark for him, but he didn't like it. So of course I decided to combine my genes with a whale..." Yeah no, that makes sense.
"I wanted to impress my brother and help his work but I didn't understand and got him something unsuitable. So I tried to make it up to him by proving that his work was great and put my body on the line. He wasn't happy that I messed with his work."
Anybody else like how Monarch and Rocco were laughing and busting balls together during this episode?? I can tell Rocco was relieved at the ending and happy he got to let him go.
I always believed that as children, Doug used to take care of Chester and/or the rest of the family, which is why he looks up to him so much. Dad was not around, Doug used his genius to be the breadwinner, and Chester fell into the gang life, not just for money, fame and power, but to also provide for the family and prove to Doug he was capable of doing so. Even as a villain, he still is in touch with his mother, probably in good comfort thanks to Doug and Chester and Doug talks to him like a parent to their son. He not only sees Doug as a brother, but also a father as well.
My favorite thing about doc hammer is he throws actual art in backgrounds in venture bros that only if know about it you would get it. Like the shark in here is an actual art piece. It’s hilarious when people ask doc about art at conventions cause he will talk about it for like 20 minutes while publick is all “here we go again you got him started”
What's great is the spend all of season 6 building up wide whale as the biggest bag guy there is, only to show that he's almost at the mercy of the most pathetic character the show ever came up with
I find it hilarious that despite Wide Whale being Rusty's main level 10 arch, the 2 never actually met. Their children and bodyguards and had already formed a relationship/rivalry but the 2 main guys got nothing lol.
I hardly find it a Hulk story. True the two professors had the same ideas going for medical science. But Banner pumped himself with gamma radiation not strains of sea animal DNA. So yeah can't really count this as a Hulk story Malcolm.
Ough, If life and fate happened differently in their universe, The Monarch and Wide Whale would have had different careers such as being The President and Hollywood Elite, but they're doing this instead. What are they all exactly getting out of all of this arching stuff anyways? At least when you become a politician or some actor, there is an overall career goal in sight that is at least obtainable and realistic. This just seems like a lot of unnecessary work.
They get to steal technology worth millions and beat up nerds that they hate. They don't even have to do taxes. That actually sounds kinda cool. Granted, I'd never want to actually hurt anyone, but bullying my nemesis while riding a flying skateboard, while backed by dozens of fanatically loyal armed guards who I can berate with impunity every time they screw up? Sign me up.
@@nhjo Well, I thought intellectuals were supposed to rise above such petty "crab mentality" but I guess I was wrong. There is a clear and huge division I see here. The clear division I see is between the heroes, villains, soldiers, and henchmen along with the super-scientist (and mystical magic people) who want The Arching System to succeed and the ones who want The Arching System to fail. I see it in every episode when young clones are kept from joining OSI even though they have the required skill set and the physical attributes that are needed. I see it when ominous mystical men come in second place to mediocrity and deceit. I see it when people of science are told to suppress their lifes' work for corporate greed. I see it when they put powers and weapons in the hands of masked jerks instead of fighting real injustice. I see it when henchmen lose their best friends and are thrown deeper into misery and despair instead of getting a what is fair. Well someday, I feel someone will come along with a HUGE MESSAGE. And that message is to those that want The Arching System to fail is "YOUR DAYS ARE OUTNUMBERED". lol
