Wii U - Purchasing Downloadable Content 

Their's actually some huge and good DLC from Nintendo at very cheap prices. Sometimes Nintendo even makes special deals or DLC free for a certain amount of time, kind of like Steam does.

Not all DLC is created equal. While some are guilty of that, others can be extensions to the main experience - much like New Super Luigi U redesigns all the levels in the main NSMBU game.

The purchases are tied to your Nintendo Network account. The problem (and a temporary one) is that your Nintendo Network account is currently tied to your system. Once that becomes portable (which will be soon), I think you complaint will be nullified.

for those who think, what if your system broke? you do know that you need an account, to keep track of your purchases, so if your system breaks can't you just sign in and download the stuff again? don't you think nintendo thought about this

DLC is an add-on (meaning stuff made AFTER the game is released (unless you're Capcom)) that developers spend a lot of time on (Well, minus map, skin and song packs) Why would they spend weeks working on something, then release it for free? It's an expansion, DLC is just smaller expansion packs, which game developers have been doing for a long time.

I'm not talking about small DLC like that, I'm talking about stuff like Fallout 3 and Borderlands DLC. They add more areas, more weapons, more armour, more quests, more characters, and more enemies. Most DLC sucks, but don't act like it's all shit when there's a lot of good DLC out there.

True. But if it just lets you unlock weapons or costumes that were already on that disk you bought, it is. They just removed content from the completed game to earn some extra cash. In my opinion, that's not what DLC is supposed to be. It should add something to the game. Not unlock what you've already bought.

Your downloads are not covered by an account system. Instead they are using the Wii system. This means all your purchases are tied to your console not your account. This is 2013 Nintendo! Sony and Microsoft have been doing it right since 2007

So DLC's existed in the 1970's and earlier on the magnetic tapes? No it did not because the modern definition of a DLC ''refers to additional content that can be downloaded within a video game'' according to techterms . com. It does not apply to whole games themselves. By the way a game is written on a disc during installation, not 'downloaded' as you indicated.

I probably don't quite understand how DLC works... but I just hope they don't end up making the games half complete with the rest as purchasable DLC, just like the game apps in iPhones.

Similarly, on my 3DS, my same account for my Wii U cannot be used (though there is a system update or two that I have yet to perform on 3DS, so here's to hoping that will have been addressed by now). Unfortunately, it does seem, for the moment at least, that your Wii U Nintendo network ID is not actually saved into any kind of cloud.

It doesn't matter if you have a physical copy or the digital copy, you just need the game.

first you have to wait until they release the games on the console. Also check out their games on the 3DS. New Super Mario Bros. 2, Fire Emblem: Awakening and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: GoI all have DLC that is fairly interesting

Please, you confuse PLC and DLC. PLC is stuff that was on your disc and locked, means: You bought it, but didn't get to play it. DLC is a good thing. You buy your full game and if you like it, there's more content!

I still don't get why the titles of ubisoft are freaking 70 Euros when you can buy them for 50-60 retail and 30-45 on other consoles (namely PC)

I don't buy DLC either, but saying that a game isn't complete just because it has it is wrong. If the story gets told and has an ending without DLC it is a complete game. If all the levels are there and you can play through the game without needing to buy DLC and finish it, then it is complete. DLC is just extra stuff that the company puts in because they want to make more cash not because they had to. I haven't heard of a single console/PC game that makes you buy DLC to finish it.

DLC is actually something REALLY good! Its just that publishers have been abusing it for a while now.

Well, if you want to lengthen you game experience after completing a game. I see nothing wrong with buying DLC.

Fix DLC for Blops 2, NFS Most Wanted, Mass Effect, etc. Many games are not complete on Wii U because they don't have the extra DLC at all. Fix it!

(1/2) Well, not really... See, just like your account, your downloads are tied to the console. As a PS3 and Wii U user, I have seen this first hand. If I go to a friend's house that also owns a PS3, I can log into my PSN account from there and see all my network information such as trophies, settings, etc. I went to a friend's house that also has Wii U, and there was no way to create a guest version of my account on his console because the info is tied to mine. DLC is only good if it adds a significant amount to the game, like The Shivering Isles for Oblivion, or basically anything for a Bethesda game. It's not good if the game is released half finished and forces you to pay an additional fee to unlock the rest (like Mass Effect 3's additional team member integral to the lore of the game universe), or it adds a metric ton of useless things all in the name of "micro transactions".

As a gamer, I'm pissed that it took Nintendo this long to embrace DLC and to the point of the need to have a video explaining what freaking DLC is enrages me. However, as a long time Nintendo fan the fanboyish excitement in me makes me squeal with joy and foam at the mouth with excitement! My body has never been more ready!

Are you stating a game that is complete CANNOT receive anymore love after its initial release? No patches, no buy-able content, no nothing? DLC = Downloadable Content. Patches count as downloadable content. What if they have glitches they could never find that are pointed out? Do you want them to ignore it? Would you rather have a game that's good and will continue with support, or just have a game thats incomplete? It's impossible to have a "complete" game.

It couldn't be easier to buy DLC on Wii U? It could be A LOT easier..even the 3DS's DLC system is a lot better...

Ok, thanks nintendo. Now lets make some games that actually have DLC. I know Call of Duty isn't the best franchise, but where the heck is the DLC that's available on the other consoles? I hate DLC, but only if it's unnecessary, and if it was something that the developers could have put within the game with no problem, but decide to be dicks, and make it DLC. That Luigi DLC on NSMB is pretty cool, it's not gonna be the same map just with luigi in it, they're gonna completely change it, that's GOOD DLC.....I just don't like the DLC that involve more guns and what not, completely useless....
