Didn't think this game would get it's own single player campain, but it did. And it looks awesome. This might be the first shooting game that I'll actually enjoy. Especially the colorful and vivid artstyle of it.

god, so many memories. the single player for this game was absolutely marvelous, and I believe the single player is what really makes splatoon splatoon. aesthetic backgrounds, really good music, and all in all, a story that doesn't go very deep but still is enjoyable. the sunken scrolls really add to the lore too. i hope, if we ever get a splatoon 3, it adds more story, though.

this is probably my favorite splatoon commercial.. it makes the game look fun, the timing with the music is great.. it almost seems like a movie trailer.

I think the cut octarians (00:35) are just an early version of the Octosnipers. Their mouths are like squirt guns, probably used to project thin shots of ink. They sit in a pool, so they can't move. They remain stationary why they presumably shoot projectiles at you from a distance. They were obviously intended to be a challenge to approach and take out. The reason there are three of them is to cover all angles and make it all the more difficult to get near. This (possible) early version of the Octosniper was not designed to move or rotate. Today's version is designed to rotate on its own, hence why you only face 1 at a time as opposed to 3. But that's just a theory. A GAME THEORY.

Out of everything in this Direct, I was actually most impressed by this Splatoon trailer. The platforming segments look TIGHT. It definitely looks like it's shaping up to be one of Nintendo's best original titles in a long time.

Just here comparing this to the splatoon 3 one. Man we have come such a long way. Can't wait!

I just noticed something extremely interesting: At the start of the trailer it showcases some more of the 4v4 mode. If you watch you can see that the teams spawn which different weapons including a sniper! This suggests you may now be able to select your weapon at the start of the match, which was not possible in the e3 build of the game. This is really cool because when I tried it that is the one place I thought it lacked in because there was only one weapon available. (Aside from the special weapons but they were merely a power up and only lasted ten seconds).

I don't know why, but I really, REALLY like this trailer. The music, how the footage matches up to it, random intervals of non-gameplay, and the end where the splatoon logo octo-fies.

This is when you realize that we are close to splatoon 3 and its almost 7 years old, i feel old, splatoon is my favorite game from 2015 and i loved it and splatoon is my favorite game so far, can’t wait to play Splatoon 3, you will probably see this when splatoon 3 is already in your nintendo switch, best thing from splatoon 2 so far is octo expansion, best way to spent 20 dollars, i even bought 3 month premium just for the final event of splatoon 2, it was sooo fun, the gamemodes are fun as well and they are short so you can play a lot of times at the day and not getting bored at all, i mean that splatoon is the best game of nintendo in my point of view and i hope nintendo keeps making another splatoons or DLC’s, good game (not pay to win) thx nintendo for another good game for our heart :).

9 years ago when this trailer was released, I remember hearing miyamoto talk about his new game in the works where you're a "squid kid superhero" and thinking to myself "that's the dumbest thing ever" now nearly 10 years later I've played all 3 games on their release date and have expierenced such beautiful story telling and lore of such a wonderful cephalopod filled game. splatoon changed me as a person and I'm ever so grateful to of had the privilege to play. thankyou nintendo

"Nintendo can not innovate more." Haha they was wrong, maybe this game is the most epic shooter I've ever seen in my life! something different from the typical weapons to kill and kill to advance.

A lot of things I noticed in this earlier version of the Splatoon Single-Player 0:36 - The Octosnipers were a lot different, including having armor and eye protectors, and this level seems to be unknown. 0:51 - Cap’n Cuttlefish seemed to have a different sewer system in a different area, but in the official one, it has a different manhole. 0:58 - This could have been a different design for Octo Valley(?) 1:04 - This never appeared in the game, might have been scrapped. 1:16 - The Octostamp’s eyes are fully purple, not green. 1:18 - These manholes looked more low-polyester, the ink looks less explosive, and there isn’t a red valve on the front of it. I am actually glad they changed this up, but I’m also interested of what it would be to play this early version of the game. (Pause to see if you want)

I think I'm the only person in the world who is currently more excited for this awesome game (which I have already tried out at an event and it is awesomely fun), more than any other Nintendo game next year, yes even more than Zelda Wii U! Sue me. Although having said that, VERY little was shown of Zelda Wii U so thats mainly why. Still this single player mode looks really awesome and also quite innovative. And people say Nintendo can't innovate anymore...

And that was 6years ago boys.

I love absolutely everything about this game so far! The music, the aesthetic, the graphics, the gameplay, the fact that it is a multiplayer shooter but made by Nintendo. And I get a small Super Mario Sunshine vibe off it because of the ink. I keep waiting for Mario to swoop in and clean it all up with FLUDD.

It's been 7 years already...damn... Now there's a Splatoon 3

So I've rewatched the trailer and I've noticed Splatoon 1 could've been so different from how it is today. The trailer showed an enemy that didn't make it to the original game, as well as burst bomb for Splat Roller (the subline of the ink tank matches the ink cost of this sub), bubbler on Splattershot and burst bomb on Squiffer.

Welcome to the salty splatoon how tough are you?

This trailer is actually cannon to a slight degree. Apparently, the day this trailer dropped for us (2014 modern era) was also the day the inklings first heard this song: Tentacular Circus by Turquoise October. (Canonically in 2014 *mollusk era*) The octarians broadcast it to inkopolis as some sort of threat or warning, but the inklings didn't really care or even know and mostly thought it sounded cool. I forgot where I heard this.

What's been shown of the game so far reminds me a lot of Jet Set Radio. Music, visuals, gameplay, story, pretty much everything that made JSR great...maybe Splatoon will be the game to continue its legacy as a spiritual successor of sorts. :)

If you look at the S at 1:32 it actually looks like it's covered in blood if you think about it.
