Ok, so aside from the hilarity of these, it actually is nice to see that even with strange af gear you can kill a boss. Just not with any efficiency...
I get the point of this series but youre also grossly misinterpreting the wiki gear guides (which absolutely do need some work and should be done as BIS > Decent > Average > Bare minimum). The wiki guide shows items in order of effectiveness, not in order of recommendation, e.g. it's saying an Ely is worse than a defender, not that an Ely is the bare minimum you should have. This is a cool concept for a series but it really feels like youre just leaning into shitting on the wiki for no reason at this point and also kind of detracting from actually doing anything beneficial.
I understand this but why does it stop at ely then? Why doesn't it include all the defenders etc.? Obviously you cant list every single item, so why not stop at an item that makes sense? like a dragon defender.
Why are some of you actually going full Karen over a wiki, does the wiki have feelings the majority of us are unaware of, how does the satire go straight over your heads
This series is really fun but some ppl are missing the point of why the guides have these downgrades. Like with Chally, it's on the strategy guide to tell people NOT to use it bc it's worse than DDS. If Chally was removed entirely, it'd be ambiguous and some ppl might assume it's decent
what? no, that's ridiculous. There are hundreds of items that are not in the list. Is it ambiguously recommending a rune platebody because it's not included in the downgrade chart? Obviously the intuitive understanding is "if it's in the list it's a *viable* downgrade"
@@XxSupaBAMxX Except rune plate is never a real option, chally is a real budget option on some bosses like Bloat and Dusk P1 In case anyone ever wonders if Chally is good at Vard (I guarantee people have), this guide confirms it's worse than DDS. There's no reason to delete that info, it doesn't take up any extra space
@@KodakKid33 it seems like you got confused by the wiki as well lol. It's not a budget option, it's a niche spec weapon for last hitting things with in specific circumstances (killing something, phase transitions) and for barrage slayer. As a dps spec, dds will always win (and is also easier to acquire for both irons and mains)
I find it hilarious at some of the recommended setups, lol. I really appreciate you showing me gearscape, though. It's nice being able to import all my gear instantly and tell it "hey, I wanna kill zulrah tanzanite phase" and it show me what my BiS is to kill that phase. That being said, it does tell me to use shadow barrage lol. Probably the first time I've ever been told to use that on a boss. Either way, fun series, keep this going!
I really like this little series (?). It has the same "Can you beat Breath of the Wild but without climbing?" kind of vibes but for osrs, which I think has some untapped potential.
I hope the wiki team sees this video and is like damn he really does have a point. And the rework how they do things. This video should inspire the wiki to want to do a better job and make these things more accurate/ accessible. They do so much “good” for the community. But this should inspire and not bring hate

Honestly i understand the concept for your series here, but i think you are grossly misrepresenting the wiki contributors. The best in slot is obviously best in slot. However, the least effective in slot should not be used as a baseline for a setup. The setups don't say here is the min req gear. it shows a progression of downgrade in each specific category. I don't think a single person who contributed to the wiki page for vardorvis really sat there and thought, "man don't forget your ely!" as he put it in the same downgrade column as the strength ammy.
Yeah, this is a fun series, but you're definitely not intended to be using the worst item in every single category. But some of his points are valid, like if you have completed desert treasure 2, you have a rune defender, or it's at least fair for a guide to just stop there and say, at least go get a rune defender.
Gnomonkey is kind of the official spokesman of endgame brainrot. This is the same guy who made a serious video complaining about no endgame content 2 days after DT2 came out. We expect too much from him.
Both opinions are valid, it makes sense that an ely is at the bottom of the graph because it represents all tank shields that don’t have a str bonus. At the same time, it’s also funny that gnomonkey is poking fun at it by bringing an ely into Vardorvis. Nothing wrong with either side.
I really appreciate these vids, i have similar gear to what youve been trying and will never have a bil+ weapon to spam. You should try to clear these brewed down to mid level account stats
Something to note, it doesnt matter whay style you have selected when speccing, weapon special attacks always role a specific style e.g. claw specs always roll as slash even if changed to stab
this is wrong. claw specs always roll against the enemy’s slash bonus but if you put them on stab, it uses the much lower stab bonus against the enemy’s slash bonus, throwing away a huge amount of accuracy for no gain. the only place you’d do this is putting godswords on crush for pnm auto max hits
People getting mad at this series need to take a deep breath. It's a silly string of challenges and an entertaining thing to watch a really skilled pvmer suffer. Clearly this isn't intended to be taken seriously lol
I did 1200 vard kc with bands/fang pre nerf and 2900 with just, my kills per trip went up and my average kill time was around the same if not even faster at times. Everyone called me stupid but from my experience it worked. (iron without blood fury)
The wiki puts gear from best to use to worst to use per slot you bring, that doesn't mean they expect u to bring an ely with shit gear. It means they compare items to bring in that slot based purely on stats.
@@Frozhiir I am, actually, but you don't seem to have critical thinking skills. I am questioning the process by which items are picked to even appear on the table. You have to make a call somewhere which items are relevant enough to be compared. In this case, it's only avernic and dragon defender.
@@XxSupaBAMxX you aren’t, actually because you fail to see there are 5 slots. So when there are no relevant offensive items they tend to put in defensive items than can/ tend to be more impactful than the lower grade offensive items. Hence the shields being compared. That doesn’t mean that it makes sense in an overall gear setup, it does mean that it makes sense in the slot comparison. Especially for people opting to try a more defensive build to learn the boss. So before you try to insult someone’s critical thinking skills, make sure you have some of your own considering you can’t look any further than your own limited scope of thoughts. Now be quiet you are wasting my time

@@wilk_ipedia Nope, RU-vid editor only has options to remove the clip with the copyrighted music (both audio and video) or mute the clip or at least use to. I haven't used RU-vid editor in a while but that's how it use to be. I've had quite a few vids pretty well ruined because they'd pass copyright check during upload then get a copyright claim anywhere from an hour to a week or so later.
