The atmosphere of this song is second to none, as is the the general feel of all of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. I have never encountered an album that has been close to the same level of atmosphere that this one has. Perfect song from a perfect album.
Kurt Vonnegut described the combined effect of artists across all disciplines to bring about the end of the Vietnam war through their work as that of "dropping a flan from a step ladder". This led him to conclude that the new function of art is let you know you are not alone. Wilco works for me...
I wish Wilco went back to this type of sound... Rest in peace to the legend, Jay Bennet. The man was a genius who just as integral to the sounds of their finest albums (Being There, Summerteeth, YHFT) as Tweedy.
"Our distance has no way of making love understandable" This song hits so close to home for me on many levels. Mainly because there IS something wrong with me! ;-P
Wilco raises the state of the art of music. The record industry is failing, radio stations are running scared and it is because the industry has forgotten how to promote true artists like Wilco.
I really like this group. they are not typical but come off as approachable and that's a good thing. Wilco know's how the deliver to the deeppest parts of the human condition a beatiful dark imitation of life.
"Radio Cure" Cheer up, honey, I hope you can There is something wrong with me My mind is filled with silvery stars Honey, kisses, clouds of fog Shoulders shrugging off Cheer up, honey, I hope you can There is something wrong wit h me My mind is filled with radio cures Electronic surgical words Picking apples for kings and queens of things I have never seen Oh, distance has no way of making love understandable Cheer up, honey, I hope you can There is something wrong with me My mind is filled with silvery stars Honey, kisses, clouds of fog Picking apples for the kings and queens of things I've never seen Oh, distance has no way of making love understandable Oh, distance has no way of making love understandable Oh, distance has no way of making love understandable Oh, distance the way of making love understandable Oh, distance the way of making love understandable Cheer up honey, I hope you can...
love how this is so understated, compared to the album version. im new to wilco, and this song is my favourite song so far. its inspiring to listen to.
This has to be one of the saddest and most transparent songs of all times. It just gets me every time. Jeff sounds so much like Jerry Garcia and i don't even like the Dead. Has to be one of my top ten songs of all time. He had to have written this when he was at his absolute worst with drug addiction.
It means being oblivious to the importance people have in other spheres of life, not just doing the mundane thing you're doing (ie. riding an elevator, picking an apple.)
She is the not right person for you right now, but now you know what you do not want and what you do want. When you align with that. It wont matter who she is. You can call her any name and it will be right!!
Cheer up, honey, I hope you can There is something wrong with me My mind is filled with silvery stuff Honey kisses, clouds of fluff Shoulders shrugging off Cheer up honey, I hope you can There is something wrong with me My mind is filled with radio cures Electronic surgical words Picking apples for kings and queens of things I've never seen Oh, distance has no way of making love understandable

exactly that order is perfect But its still very close. Comparing the bands that released Funeral/Neon Bible, Ok Computer/The Bends, and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot/A Ghost is born is nearly impossible
starts on E verse is basically just D A and E, but not always in that order... turnaround at end of verse is: A A/G F# G pre-chrous (picking apples...) D D/C# A G F# G chorus (distance has no way...) F# F#/F D#m A# B D F# etc...
@Blondejack2003 Verse - D A E D Pre-Chorus (end of verse / picking apples) - A A/G F# G D/F# A G F# Chorus (distance has no way) - F# Ebm Bbm B D F# Break - E D then back into verse
Cool, cool - I recognized yanqui (because of Banditos Yanquis in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid") so I thought I'd take a stab. Is yanqui informal? Is it derogatory?
the national-maybe they havent put out an album yet that blew me away but theyre ok shins- im a fan but they're nowhere near the level of wilco radiohead or arcade fire
