While collecting data, did they swab for the presence of Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis?

We get quite a lot of salamander species in Canada.

Many animals are sensitive to changes in the environment. Rats and snakes can predict earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, rats can also detect toxic gases before humans do, amphibians react to water pollution before other species do. We should pay more attention to the animal kingdom. Also, if a bunch of rats are fleeing the area, follow them.

Frogs can also sense earthquakes. They do it by sensing chemical shifts in ground water.

aren't Axolotls just a salamander lineage that has evolved to 'never leave the larval stage' , so to speak?
