I live vicariously thru these vids this time of year…we had an early spring last year in NW Montana so it’s almost unbearable waiting for spring to pop up in our neck of the woods 😢 I have sooo many areas planned out with my family this season, hopefully it’s an extremely fruitful year 🤞 thanks for taking the time and effort to make these vids and share your knowledge
Thank you for all the knowledge sharing, Aaron. I've learned much from you and your friends that have made appearances in the videos. I'm located on [North] Vancouver Island, and just this week found what appeared to be an early yet small flush of Oysters on some Alder out on my walks with the dog. Along with a healthy amount of precipitation, we've experienced a high variance in temperature in short periods of time, which may have facilitated that localized flush. I did note that some Oysters had a partial white mold growth on their gills, which I was attributing to the aforementioned temperature swings, but am not confident in that causal linking. They certainly appeared to be new growth as the body was quite healthy in appearance and not dried out and yellowing like past season's would be. Though, I'd expect that any Oysters from last season would be long since rotted away by now.
Such a beautiful Forest! Love the big ferns. We still have snow in Southern Ontario. Love how those Latin names just roll off your tongue. Do you have ticks there? Thinking of Gunner as he strolls through the Forest (and you too). Looking forward to mushroom season here. Hope we have a wetter summer and fall.
Started foraging this autumn here in Australia. couldve sworn i was finding turkey tails on conifer wood.. is this a thing or were they really not turkey tails?
Hi Aaron. IYou had a video featuring But Patterson? The Johnny Appleseed of Magic Mushrooms. Is this available on any other platforms as it's a great video to share with novice like minded folks?
The leaf faces freak me out everytime I go through Newberry. How did they get there? Who made them? I dunno whether to smile since I spotted one... or check over my shoulder to make sure there isn't a axe murderer behind me... Anyways - great vid as always!
Looked and looked in SC and haven't found a single edible mushroom in 25 years. Lived in IN before moving here and miss hunting and eating mushrooms...
Yeah there's no telling, I suppose one could read the farmer's almanac, I think it's pretty close to accurate as it gets, but if we had a repeat of last spring, with the bumper crop of morels, I wouldn't complain. But it would be nice if it started to rain in July or early September, we're due for a good autumn next year.
