Ive been driving for ten years plus 7 in the US Army and the biggest piece of advice i give new drivers is to go slow, no matter how confident you think you are go slow when backing, connecting to your trailer or go slow when doing your pre/post trips, because its on you when something happens and the slower you go the less likely it is to happen and you can react faster and safer.

Another tip: limit backing up as much as possible. Try to back up only when needed. I see so many new drivers (both regular and commercial) reverse in situations they really don't need to in order to try to seem cool or test their "skill" when it's unnecessary.

My dad was a truck driver for the last 12 years. He just passed away 3 weeks ago after a brave battle with cancer. He loved trucking and it gave him the opportunity to spend weeks at a time with his children and grandchildren, and when we would pick him up at the truck, the kids always loved investigating the living quarters of his truck, they thought it was so cool, and he always let them beep the horn. ❤

The part about the accident and the man's soul already being gone before the accident made me bawl my eyes out My sister in law was 9 months pregnant and got in an accident last week. She died on impact and they revived her and kept her body alive for a few days while they figured out the baby situation and life support. She deserved to meet her baby boy. She was only in her 20s. Clarissa is like a gust of fresh air, a force of nature! I really enjoyed watching as someone who is new to your channel. I definitely want to follow Clarissa on social media and watch some of her videos. The stories from both of you were so entertaining. In Australia, they are hiring women to drive trucks in the mines because women treat the trucks better 😂😂 Clarissa, your story about having to brake because of the unforeseen, made me think of something else that’s happening here in Australia. A large trucking company wants their drivers to fill out “near misses” reports” which is totally ridiculous when nothing actually happened and it adds more paperwork for the drivers. I have so much respect for Truck drivers. My Great Uncle was one and he had a heart attack at the wheel. He took his truck off road, over the side of the infamous Bulli Pass in NSW. He’s a hero in our books. Clarissa, add Slim Dusty’s song “Lights on the Hill” to your country repertoire. It always reminds me of Uncle Brad. It’s a truckers song. 🎵 Thank you Clarissa, for being a gorgeous, glamorous inspiration to women everywhere that they can and should do typically male jobs and earn the dollars that go with it. They have to be prepared, like you, to put in the work to do it. I think you are a bloody Legend! ❤️🤗🎵🦘🐨🇦🇺💕🐊🩵🙏

@@KaylaMarie-ij4kb Yeah. As someone who lives in Florida I have a love hate relationship with the state (especially because the "Florida Man" thing is more true than I'd like and it makes dating horrendous lol), but there's definitely a ton of fun stuff to do. A lesser known gem is Deezerland - it's an "indoor amusement park" in an old basically abandoned and repurposed mall, and it's great for hot days because it's all indoors with AC. There's a car museum, go karts, a movie theater, putt putt golf, air gun shooting range, and an arcade. It's a ton of fun and again, in the summer AC is a MUST in Florida 😂

Ya I believe that she was there to help all of them in that car that day her husband maybe didn't know that something was going to happen where she was the one who helped but still this story is so good and sad at the same time and good because sometimes to get tho something like that we need help and support and the love of a mom the man needed someone to help him understand what happened and how he felt she being a mom knows how to help him in it all . We all need to talk about how we feel and he even as a man needed someone to help him and the babys needed a mother touch . Good job.

Miracles are definitely real. My boyfriend and his sister was driving back from their aunt's after work and got hit by a semi truck. Neither of them had a scratch on them, both of them were completely fine, physically. They were pulling out to get into the main road, there's a hill on the right side and a straight road on the left, he pulls out and all of a sudden his sister starts screaming "Semi, semi, semi!" Next thing they know BOOM they're hit. To this day I am still very thankful that they are okay. My boyfriend was going to pay for damages since it was his fault but the truck driver told him not to worry about it since he was at fault to for going way too fast over the hill.

I drive OTR locally for my company going site to sight, but most of my job is as a yard driver on-site at the warehouses. These are some of the problems I've encountered doing this for the last 2 years. 1) Many drivers, particularly males, are rude! They'll cuss you out or cut you off when trying to setup a maneuver to park. Some will treat us women like we're beneath them or ignorant of how this all works. 2) One guy asked me if I could reach the door latches on the trailers to open/close them. I'm 5'2" and can reach standard trailers just fine. The shipping containers (intermodals) are higher and I have to reach a bit more. 3) There is some sort of unspoken dress code to wear all dark colors at night in a poorly light yard. Some dudes straight up vanish into the shadows! 4) many won't wear the class 2 safety vests on the yard, even when it's required by the company's yard rules. The reflectors increase other driver's visibility of your presense. They will give you attitude about it or say they'll put it on but don't. I've seen many drivers just drape the vest around their neck, put them on inside out, or put a jacket over the vest. So no reflection possible. 5) No concept of a safety bubble when around other trucks. Drivers will walk right up to my yard truck (hostler) WHILE I'M STILL MOVING to ask me a question. Or they'll dart behind your truck and/or trailer just as you start reversing with no heads up. They'll park in the spot immediately next to you when you are walking around inspecting the trailer that you're about to move. This is a major safety risk of getting pinned, and I've had many instances where the truck has no backup alarm. So I had no knowledge that the trailer was close until I physically saw it or nearly walked into it coming around my trailer!! 6) OTR, drivers will ride up on your tail or pull in front of you and not accelerate to create that following distance (6-8 second gape between vehicles) for safety and crash prevention. Loaded trailers goingnover 40 mph can take 350 feet (1 football field) or more to stop! An empty trailer that stops quickly has the greatest risk to jack knife. 7) Men, especially the foreign drivers, don't know how to park!! Whether in a parking slop or on a dock door, they park at an angle. So the dock plate can't set correctly or the trailer is too far to one side, and you can clearly see the dock door along the edge of the trailer. The door should be completely covered and NOT visible if parked correctly. Most of the time this is caused by impatience with multiple drivers trying to park, and now the yard drivers will have to spend time realigning the trailers to the doors so work can begin on them. 8) Dumping trash or human waste (used adult diapers and bottles with urine) on the trailer yard!!!! 🤢🤢🤢🤢 Not bothering to toss these into one of the many dumpsters or at the bathrooms.

Oh yeah, the desert tarantula migration! Poor things cross the desert in October. It's pretty cool, but also I'm fine with spiders, especially tarantulas. I undertsand not everyone can do that. But when I was a senior in high school, one of my friends lived out in the desert and caught one from the migration path and brought it to school, and I held it. It was a wonderful experience and I made sure he was going to release it back on the migration path because it was important he got where they were all going. Tarantulas are awesome, but I totally get it when people are just not into spiders. If you're one of those people who can't do spiders, I hope you never witness the migration because it's a lot.

Female here and I come from a family of farmers and truckers. I have drove semis from the field to the co-op, drove tractors, combines, been the truck with hazards on behind or in front of the caravan heading home from the field at midnight and the amount of disrespect people give us on the road is unreal. I will always signal over a trucker on the 4 lane, I will block people from passing to let a trucker over bc his signal has been on for half a mile trying to lane change for their exit, I will slow down to 10 mph behind a tractor and not give a damn bc they have 2 wagons filled with corn or beans. We share the road and as farmers, we help feed the world and 2 of the 15 family members that drive truck haul animals and they get beat to hell and back (broken bones are not uncommon for them when loading cattle or buffalo and getting ripped to shreds by hogs and hands smashed by goats and sheep) but they love their jobs and someone has to do it. I decided to be the first one in my family to fall into the trades and become a welder. Now I am a Weld fabricator for specialty projects on farms and for livestock as well as a robotic programmer and operator. And I love my job and I also help farm as much as I can and will gladly get covered in every type of bodily fluid to help save a cow with a stuck calf or a nanny with a kid twisted up.

She's such a delight! My guy is a semi (car hauler currently) mechanic and we're starting our own company of it. And her attitude is exactly why. Some of these old driver men are just bums with 6figure paychecks..trash humans. Won't do pretrips, won't respect anyone, act like the only one able to fail at the job enough for them to break even...... Realize I sound like her and absolutely love it. (I'm former aquatic so get that "get all the certs for the check", before I was a momma. Think I quit in 2006 as a LGTI-WSI2/life guard able to cert others and swim lessons making like 18$ just for funsies) And if in PNW and willing to do car hauler for insanely high pay.... I know where to work. We like the guy he's currently working under but the drivers cost in carelessness/attitude. Would love to find him better drivers before we venture on our own

I don't have the beat experience with track drivers unfortunately. I live in a place where I see probably more trucks then regular cars, cuz my parents house is on one side of the road, the other side of the road there's a package delivery hub, and if you take the road one way there's a high way, and the other is one of the biggest cities in the country, so quite a lot of trucks going I all directions, and I don't have a drivers license, and the bus are rare and quite expensive, so going to school or work in said big city, because I only live 2km away, so I would usually either walk or bike. And like obviously I see those bad behaviours so often ,because I just see a lot of trucks it's not all drivers, but it does happen so often that I just feel weary of them instinctively. But the amount of times I had truck driver stop, just to harass me, and follow me (cuz I'm fem presenting) just slowly drive behind me and ask me inappropriate questions, especially in the summer. And when I take the bike it's like they're just triggered by bikers, because the amount of times I was put in denger by a truck driver. I once even got into an accident and injured my foot, cuz the truck that was stuck in traffic, while I was biking in the side of the road skipping the traffic, the truck suddenly started pulling to the side right as it show me approaching, and It happened so suddenly I didn't menaged to break so I just fell of me bike, and fell into the roadside trench or however they are called in english, and I just saw the driver laughing while slowly driving away with the traffic. And that was not the first time something like that happened, this time I just didn't menage to break in time cuz they did it so quickly, but it's like they're allergic to bikers skipping traffic. The road is huge it's not like there's no space for me, I can pass easly, but so many of them will see me approach and just starts pulling over to block me, and I saw it happened to other bikers too, so it's not just me. Like, what is this weird spite against bikers?
