I remember seeing them in 1988 at monsters of rock and at one point Michael came out and played a bass solo for about 20 minutes and it was like he was leveling the venue the whole place was shaking it was awesome.
I saw Van Halen for the first time when I was a kid on the Fair Warning tour and Michael Anothony leaned down right in front of me and gave me a blue guitar pick with his name on one side and of course the Van Halen logo on the other. That made me a lifelong fan Michael! God Bless!
Love his down to earth humble personality, still a class act. There are damn good reasons why he's probably the most beloved member of VH throughout the whole fan community 'til this day.
Been a VH fan since 1982. Been a TMS fan since it's debut in 2008. Thanks for keeping Rock alive \m/ Michael Anthony is the reason I started playing the bass guitar.
Eddie, Jim and Don. Thank you SO much for keeping rock alive. So, so glad you three are back doing these interviews and have great musicians like Michael Anthony on! This is so great!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
This is great. WACF for me. I had it on 8 track. My neighbor heard me listening to Pretty Woman ( single ) and gave the 8 track of WACF . I wore that tape out. Thank you.
Van Halen were still able to turn "Dancing In The Street" into a kick ass song all their own. It's my favorite version of "Dancing In The Street" by far
My first concert was in 1983! Van Halen! I received a blue bass pick from Michael Anthony. He was and is still the heart of Van Halen. San Francisco, the cow palace was the venue.
Mike is such a great guy. Always brings a smile to my face just seeing him enjoying life. His contributions to the music are undeniable- just a killer player and singer. Wishing him the best
Michael is so great. He doesn’t get enough credit for his bass playing and backup vocals that help define the VH sound. With the BS he had to put up with and the things they did to him, most people would write the dirtiest tell all book imaginable, but he manages to stay humble. Fan forever!
Wow....I'm just learning of this channel! I used to LOVE "That Metal Show"....looked forward to every episode! Subbed! Also....Michael Anthony has to be one of the coolest guys in rock....one of the nicest guys out there.
Van Halen 1984 tour - Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto. What a night that was. Been to hundreds of concerts over the years - and that was the ultimate night. 6th row floors. I was deaf for two solid weeks - it was great!
The Rock n Roll hall of fame is now a mosh mosh of musicians not just rock musicians… that said, I believe Eddie Trunk, who’s career is to keep the rock community involved in the back stories of rock musicians making us love the very people making their way into the rock n roll world. Eddie is indispensable in this world. Thank you Eddie Trunk !
Fantastic interview!!! You guys rock. Michael was awesome. I miss That Metal Show!! I’m a new fan of this podcast. I listen to Jim on Boneyard every week. Love all 3 of you. ❤
100 percent disagree with Jim , push comes to shove , was so different and killer , the solo in that song is one Eddies best IMO , one foot out the door is killer also
Am I the only one who loves Diver Down?? I guess it has a lot to do with my age when it came out, I was 11-12 and I still love that album but the first was the best .
When Roth was put into the straitjacket at the hotel, wasn't that taped into the Panama video? Probably the not the only instance. What a great interview.
I'd love to put him in a band with other guys that were unfairly bounced. Scott Rockenfield(ex Queensryche) Jake E. Lee (ex Ozzy ) Michael (ex VH) Jeff Scott Soto (ex Journey) You could call the band "Scarred"
Van Halen 2 is the best album. I love the first one of course, people were blown away by it! But VH 2 cemented that sound. RIP Eddie 🎸❤️💋we still miss you. I saw Eddie on a Dutch interview from 1979 the other day. GOAT
First “4” albums … OMG How Fucking Definitive is that statement…? It’s right the FUCK ON!👊 I love Hagar and Eddie but ya gotta give credit where it’s due Love ya Mike
The best part of Michael and Sammy is they really seem like just normal guys. If you came up to them they would talk to the fans. Alex and Dave would not. Dave may even try to charge for a VIP experience to say to words to him. .
Mikey may have played his Rock Star career better than anyone EVER. Him and Sammy are two people who might be two most genuinely happy people on the Planet. #VanHalenForever
I'm as bummed as Mike that there's never been an Ed tribute thing that Taylor had. It's absolutely criminal. Even it's an unauthorized one with the family not involved. I'm sure Al wouldn't mind.
there are plenty of VH tribute bands: Atomic Punks/ Fan Halen / Hot For Teacher / Nerd Halen.. If anyone could start the engines on guitar Joe Satriani and or Steve Vai and Wolfgang VH must be involved because he played bass from 2007 till the last show in Oct 2015.
Mike’s such a stud. Eddie closure to me cannot be fully achieved bc Ed’s time ran out before being able to mend w Mike. I sure would love a tribute tour done right and proper for the king of rock guitar
Shocked they all picked WACF. I’d pick Fair warning any day of the week, as much as I love women & children. Shocked, I tell you. If FW is a 10, w&c is a 9. Peace 🤘🏼
exactly.... they wouldnt have ever made 10 platinum albums without Eddie and Daves attitude being so different tthan Mikes. they would have never made it
