Yea it’s a longer wider tin definitely can fit a space blanket plus more gear. If I was going to use it more seriously I would definitely swap that knife out for a real victorinox one. A mini bic would fit nicely plus some extra tinder
With this one I like the tin far better than the kit. Nice shape, great color combo, plenty of room but still (cargo) pocket size; would be a great tin to gut and completely cram survival goodies into. Swiss Army Huntsman might even fit. And if you don't build kits for use, this would still look cool in a "pocket survival kit" collection.
Yes half the reason I picked this one up for was for the tin it looked awesome your definitely right about the color combo. The entire thing needs redone for sure
I also have to add that I like the way the kit creator organized the safety pin set. It’s very reminiscent of the original setup that the Boy Scouts used to use in various kits of theirs. Also, in my experience, those that hate the pocket survival saw fall into two camps: those that want to use it for work that it’s not actually designed to do (like saw off really thick live branches when it’s meant for thinner deadfall branches to make a lean-to with) and those who don’t know the properly intended applied setup for it, which is to hook the ring ends around notched points of a fairly flexible piece of wood in order to effectively make a bow saw with it.
Absolutely! The wire saw people always say to make it a bow saw I think you have to be careful of how hard you use them also. I think the heat also will cause them to snap.
What I would add is water purification tablets, a dedicated pocket fishing kit (with actual fishing line), a Derma-Safe folding razor, a water catchment bag, a button compass, some Fire Tabs and/or a pencil stub with pocket sharpener, maybe a tea light candle or two, a Bic lighter, maybe a survival card, and maybe a pocket sewing kit. I’d trade out that multi-tool for a much more sturdy and functional one as well. I’d also either take out that pair of tweezers or add a more complementary first-aid package to go with it (e.g. a few gauze pads and tape, a few Band-Aids, a few burn cream packets, a few OTC anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-diarrheal tablet packets, a pair of small scissors, etc.).
The multitool is definitely lacking quality 😆. Every thing you listed is an awesome addition to the kit seems like there’s quite a good list of gear there for the tin but it would definitely fit! Thanks for the comments it’s nice to see return watchers!
Whats the width and depth of that. Looks a little bigger than an altoid tin. Id say i think ive seen more stuff in a well made altoid tin. Would be nice if they replaced the bottle opener and can opener or scissors for a saw for sone redundancy. Thanks
It’s longer than an altoid and wider for sure it’s not as deep. I can measure later after work to see what the real dimensions are. A better quality Swiss army knife would be a big help
I wouldn't buy this even if it was sold at a Five Below store. Maybe if it was sold at a Dollar Store. 1.) I would replace the fake SAK with a real Victorinox. 2.) A compass would sense. 3.) Fuel tabs 4.) Aluminum foil heavy duty 10x10 folded. 5.) Bank line takes up less space than paracord and provides more length. 6.) Whats with so man safety pins? Changing diapers? Lets get a sewing needle and a sewing machine spool of thread. 7.) Half dozen nails 8.) Signal mirror 9.) Sling shot band. I can carve my own sling shot but need a band. I can use small pebbles as ammo. 10.) Whistle 11.) 2 fire crackers. 12.) Mini bic lighter 13.) Coffee filters 14.) Water purification tabs 15.) Pepto Bismol capsules
I’m not sure about the safety pins, but just out of curiosity why the fire crackers? Bear deterrent or what’s the purpose? Everything else I agree with. Nails are an awesome addition for sure. I agree with everything on your list that would make a pretty good kit
Yea I hear both story’s from people I guess the ultimate way to use it is to make it into a bow saw. I think what happens is they get to hot then brittle then it breaks
There is a video for a tin survival kit from 5 years ago that had a full bucksaw blade in it. I had made one but never used it since I jumped over to the Mors 7 and a half cup bushpot kit. A lot easier to fot the rolled up blade in there. No more wire saw
@@TheRealJackOfTrades that’s awesome that’s a nice chunk of blade to have in a kit. Even a SAK or leatherman Saw would be better than a wire saw. Even just a 5 inch piece of a jigsaw or reciprocating saw blade.
It looks like a Clas Ohlson knife you can buy in Norway, Sweden and maybe Denmark. Made in china, but if it is, then it’s much more sturdy then it looks. Not a Swiss, but will do in a pinch. Used mine as a edc for work and did some good jobs with it.
@@SirPraiseSun yes I can see it being useful after sharpened even if the scales pop off and the knife falls apart a sharp blade would still be nice to have.
You could add some SAK plus scales with a pin and pen for the SAK and once sharpened then leather strop it. Plus, a water bag, small medical kit, small fishing kit, survival guide, rite in the rain paper, would be nice to have if you haven't used one before and a few paperclips 📎 too.
I have a few write in the rain pads here they are awesome I always show people the paper they always check it out and it in a odd way is impressive to some people to have water proof paper. That’s a great contents list though. And as for the SAK scales I would probably just replace the whole thing with a SAK
Dude bro! That’s a legit anal cavity as your profile picture! The tin is worth acouple bucks but everything else is pretty bad but it’s content brother! Almost 2000 people watched that video for me in a week and a half. That’s good and it helps me out a lot! junk or not at least people know what’s in it and know whether they should buy it or not. Thanks for the view and comment though that also helps me out! Make sure you subscribe I would like to see that rectum back here again!
I agree there’s definitely not much to it. All the stuff you said are great additions and there is plenty of room in this one to add stuff. Thanks for the comment
You’re absolutely right! I grabbed it solely to open it this one is not a good option the way it stands as a survival kit. I like the rebar but I prefer my wave+ outside access to the knife saw and file are an asset to me. Definitely cannot go wrong with a bic lighter and chapstick is definitely important. Tinder is excellent!
@@rogerparrett3242 yes I use the scissors at work a lot so it benefits me that way I carry a leatherman t4 in my pocket so I use the awl all the time but mostly for a light use screwdriver
