I like the idea of AWD on thesis things and know, from owning a Pajero in the past, how useful it can be on Australian roads and bush tracks. That said, I don't like the idea of, or have any need to drive all the bling around the high Country and wish Ford would include the AWD on the more poverty focused models with the 2.0 TT motor. The 17' wheels and suspension upgrades are a nice touch as well FWIW. Cheers for the video.

Awesome review, I opted for the standard wildtrack in V6, then spent the extra money adding ARB gear and wheels of my choice. Turned out a much improved vehicle on the factory version and with the gear that best suited my requirement.

I ordered the "X" over the normal Wildtrak as the package gives me AT (Winter) tires, 26mm higher clearance, Bilstein dampers, Matrix LED, additional Aux lights in the front and the B&O sound system. All that for 1.550€ more (in Germany) is a good deal for me. But everyone is different. 😉 - As for continuous 4WD (AWD), my first and now second VW Amarok had this and I do not want to miss it, ever! If the new Ranger would not offer it, I would not have considered buying one. And why not buying the new Amarok? Well, since it is basically a Ford, I think I stick with the original, which imho. looks much better anyway. Thanks for the review and best from Germany!

I’m surprised they don’t offer these models with a tub delete option. There’s a ton of people that want to put a Cab on the back.

It’s a matter of meeting demand with a priority for high specification, higher profit margin models while the demand is there. The factories are flat out producing these, so the more utility models are currently special order only and unavailable to order in many regions. No doubt they will become more available in time as the model becomes more stale.

Thanks for the review. Great information. How is the difference between a regular Wildtrack and the Wildtrack X when driving on good roads / Highways? Do the General Grabber on the x Model a recognizable less comfortable? I don't need a real off roader. daily driver and going to the forrest for hunting. I can't decide which modell to take? Here in Germany I can get them for almost the same price. The Wildtrack X doesn't have the 11` drivers display you always see in Australian reviews. I#d really like to have this. Thanks for replying. Greetings from Germany Thomas

Use the Tow/Haul mode to increase the revs before change-up points. It works very much like a Sport mode when used without a trailer. Believe me, it works a treat. It does engage 4A by default but if someone insists on driving in 2wd, then pressing the relevant button in the round selector makes it available in Tow/Haul mode. Next niche models will be the hitherto unavailable [in the UK] more basic single and king cab versions, and the king cab in higher trims as well perhaps. What we actually need is better spare parts availability and kits to add stuff like the switch pack in the roof, wireless charging and maybe compressors and other accessories to really kit up our trucks, especially accessories that make use of the five available auxiliary electrical take off points.
@rich7447
@rich7447 6 месяцев назад
That's a lot to add to a Ranger. It might be easier to start with a bigger truck that already has a lot of what you described.
@hedydd2
@hedydd2 6 месяцев назад
@@rich7447 Spare parts availability should not vary with size or price of vehicle. It should be taken for granted. As for the other stuff, it is all available now in theory in different sales regions.
@rich7447
@rich7447 6 месяцев назад
@@hedydd2 I wasn't saying parts availability varied with the size or price of the vehicle. I was saying that the Ranger has limited space to fit compressors and other "accessories". Even over sized space tires can become a problem with the small trucks.
@hedydd2
@hedydd2 6 месяцев назад
@@rich7447 I don’t see a problem there. As long as the diameter stays the same, a narrower or standard spare is not a problem. Indeed I have substituted my 20” factory spare wheel with a 17” steel spare in case of theft and I also sometimes carry a second spare in the deck and if towing a dropside trailer, a spare and jacks and tools for the trailer also. The Ranger has space in the engine bay specifically designed for a second battery and plenty of people fit winches and compressors to Rangers. It’s not an issue unless you make it one.
@rich7447
@rich7447 6 месяцев назад
@@hedydd2 Tire diameter is changed far more often than wheel diameter. My last truck (Ram 2500 - second battery is standard equipment with the diesel. The same goes for my current F450) came with 32" tires and I ran 37s. The 37 spare would not fit in the factory location. I also ran a winch bumper (250 lbs) and a 14,000 lb winch (170 lbs), and compressor (~30 lbs). Jumper cables (65 lbs) and other recovery gear (80 lbs) all eat away at payload. The Ranger already has a very limited payload and tow rating. Anything that gets added further reduces both. It all depends what you use your truck for. I need to be able to get into and out of unimproved tracks and if I'm fortunate I might have a few hogs or a moose in the bed on the return trip.

Here in the US, the Ranger line up is much more condensed. We get the XL (2.3L L4), XLT (2.3L L4 or 2.7L V6), Lariat (2.3L L4 or 2.7L V6) and Raptor (3.0L V6). All engines are gas/petrol since neither the Ranger, nor the F150, are large enough to make a diesel all that viable under EPA regulations.

What a poor regulations 😂
@rich7447
@rich7447 6 месяцев назад
@@mohammeds5458 That's the EPA for you. Diesel regulations for vehicles with a GVM/GVWR of 8,501lbs or less are very difficult to meet for a reasonable cost. Most of our diesels are 6.6 to 6.7 liter. My Super Duty has a diesel 6.7L V8.
@mohammeds5458
@mohammeds5458 6 месяцев назад
@rich7447 I don’t understand the lbs. Anyway, it seems like your country’s regulations are very poor. Even Ford didn’t offer the diesel engine in your country, while we got the Ranger with different trims: XL low (2.0L Diesel) XL high (2.0L Diesel or 2.7L V6 petrol) XLT (2.0L Diesel or 2.7L V6 petrol) Wildtrak (2.0L Diesel or 2.7L V6 petrol) Raptor (3.0L V6 petrol)
@rich7447
@rich7447 6 месяцев назад
@@mohammeds5458 The weights are pretty easy to understand. Anything with a gross weight under 3,856 kg/8,501 lbs falls under different regulations than vehicles above that weight. In the Ford pickup truck line we get diesels in the F250, F350 and F450, but the Ranger and F150 are too small to be above the weight cutoff for the less stringent regulations. I have an F450 pickup (gross weight of 6,350 kg), which only comes with one of two diesels. You can get the 6.7L V8 Standard Output diesel (475hp/354kw and 1,050 lb ft/1,428nm of torque) or the High Output 6.7L V8 diesel (500hp/373kw and 1,200 lb ft/1,632nm of torque). Ford was running a 3L diesel in the F150, but it was problematic and didn't sell very well. People who want a diesel usually buy a bigger truck than an F150. Mid-size pickups don't sell that well here, so Ford is only offering XL, XLT, Lariat and Raptor. Normally Ford pickups are available in XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited with the F150 having a Raptor and Raptor R option.

I have a lot of Ad Blue problems on my 3.2 Wildtrack. First the headigsystem in the Ad Blue Unite did fail and after replacing it, the fittings from the Ad Blue line did leaking. But i can not get just the O-Ring and replace it, i need to get the hole Ad Blue Line that cost 700 CHF... what a bugger. Wil wait for the new Hiluxes an replaces the Ford.

The ten speed on the 2024 is a delight and Adblue use is very moderate. A full tank of Adblue should easily last 10,000 miles, going by my usage so far in mixed driving and some towing.
