Welcome To Survival-Russia. One of the very best Outdoors and Survival related communities on RU-vid, and yes, It's a pretty good Channel too.
My name is Lars. I'm From Denmark but I live in Rural Russia now. I live at a Homestead in wild nature surrounded by a huge forest.
On The Survival-Russia channel we do all things related to the Outdoors Lifestyle. I share my thoughts and experiences on Survival Techniques for the woodlands of the Northern Hemisphere. the Reality of Survival. I share Techniques and ways of the Siberian Tribesmen and the Russian Longhunters of the older days. Things not shown outside of Russia very much.
On this Channel we also do Off-Road driving, Vehicle builds, Metal Detecting, all things Outdoors basically. Enjoy!

Not only is buckwheat very healthy, I think it is severely under-rated. Great nutrient to kcal-ratio, no "carbohydrate crash," was a staple food in many parts of the ancient world already. Findings of human consumption dating back ~7000 years in Japan. I've pretty much substituted rice and pasta with things like buckwheat or boiled barley corns. I'm absolutely salivating at this campfire meal, dang awesome. Cheers Lars!

The United States raised quite a bit of Buckwheat wheat in our past mostly in Northern climates in the early 1900s there was over a million Acres of Buckwheat grown in the US. But with the introduction of nitrogen fertilizers corn kind of took over a lot of that production and it dwindled down quite a bit until the last 15 years and there's been a Resurgence in buckwheat production I think last year the US produced 90,000 tons of Buckwheat almost as much as Ukraine. Russia and China are the biggest producers x10!

Lars, I recently found out that Australians don't put baking powder in their damper (Aussie for bannock), they put in about a 1/2 tablespoon per cup of flour of powdered icing sugar. Not enough to make it sweet, but it makes it fluffy. They also add the water a little at a time and whip it into the flour with a butter knife. It works great.

Yeah, the Russians gotta have their buckwheat😆💪! Danes eat it too, mostly as a porridge (more common on the old days...). I used to have it for breakfast with raisins when I was at my dad as a kid. It´s a LOT healthier than other carbs, such as potatoes, pasta and rice. Contains a lot of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients for your general well-being. 👌🙏 Ønsker alt det bedste for dig og din familie, Lars.

There is something like that but it's not very popular and therefore not readily available in every store. There are some recipe-specific self-rising flour mixes on the market like cake or pancake mix. But most people just use flour and baking powder if they need it.
