Welcome To Survival-Russia. One of the very best Outdoors and Survival related communities on RU-vid, and yes, It's a pretty good Channel too.
My name is Lars. I'm From Denmark but I live in Rural Russia now. I live at a Homestead in wild nature surrounded by a huge forest.
On The Survival-Russia channel we do all things related to the Outdoors Lifestyle. I share my thoughts and experiences on Survival Techniques for the woodlands of the Northern Hemisphere. the Reality of Survival. I share Techniques and ways of the Siberian Tribesmen and the Russian Longhunters of the older days. Things not shown outside of Russia very much.
On this Channel we also do Off-Road driving, Vehicle builds, Metal Detecting, all things Outdoors basically. Enjoy!

There’s a device called a Thermocell here in the US, maybe you have it or something similar. They make a model that fits on top of a stove fuel canister. It has pads impregnated with bug repellent, each pad lasts maybe 2-3 hours, it works GREAT.

Lars, if you have a lot of viewers that like to see you suffer from mosquitos, or cold, you need new viewers! 😀 Last video I mentioned a kinda traditional Canadian belt knife, but now I’ll point you towards "the Original Bug Shirt" . Made by a family in Ontario canada. The main body is some sort of poly cotton or something, that is so tightly weaved that the little buggers can’t bite through (even mosquitos). Under the arms, and around the face is a mesh for ventilation. The mesh hangs loose, so mosquitos can’t reach, and with the brim of a hat, same thing for the face. Amazing piece of kit for the bush, unless it’s really hot. It’s not heavy at all, but you know how it is.

Much the same as Northern Canada and a major reason why much of it is uninhabitable. I have done a few of these no food, no water, survival camps but they were above tree-line and almost mosquito free. I learned over time to include a pro level bug suit in my summer gear. I also sewed my own bivy- bag, though it never saved any weight. Always good to see you doing well and look forward to every update. Keep Safe.

how do the mosquitos even survive in a forrest devoid of humans ? What do they feed on ? I heard that only females are the ones that suck blood to make the eggs (?) I also admire your strong determination to go out into the woods where there are billions of bugs waiting for their dinner. When I get a single mosquito in my house I have the urge to burn it down with the neighbourhood.

Good Morning Lars .. 👍👍👍. You are made of sterner stuff than me. Mosquitos, Midges (Miggies) and Flies .. especially flies 😖 .. my Achilles Heel! Back in the '70's, during my Military Service, on one operation, we had to evacuate a colleague. With an overabundance of 'Miggies' present, actually 'Mopani Flies' (minute stingless bees that cloud around one's face whilst attemping to enter any orifice / moist area 😳). They can be a nameless nightmare, especially when stealth is a priority. He 'lost it' completely .. trying to smash them whilst swinging his rifle around his head. One disappointment though Lars .. if I may, please? No Buckwheat and Super Soup 😫. I love watching you rustle up your old faithful 😁. Here in my local Swiss Forest, we have a Tick infestation. Every trip into the forest, especially with the Pooch, necessitates a through inspection afterwards for ticks. With approximately 50% of ticks here thought to carry Tick Fever or Lyme Disease .. a no- brainer. Nice-looking Home-Grown Gear .. 👍 to Mrs SR. Good fortune Lars, with the Venture going forward a d hopefully you will be able to market your products internationally. A nice share .. thanks. Until next time then, take care .. Tommy

@SurvivalRussia
@SurvivalRussia Год назад
No, I said I only use bug spray when stationary/not moving. When moving, it is not so bad. When traveling the forest, bug spray don't really work and you can't build a fire while walking... I walked all the way to camp without bug repellent. Some people would not be able to handle that. You have to get used to them. The video you are referring to, is most likely the one where I'm out picking mushrooms. I basically explain how I could use an entire can everyday for the whole summer, unless I got used to them in some form. It would be unhealthy to use that much bug spray every year.

I'm not familiar with DJI drones but I am with old FPV drone cameras, (which admittedly are different), but if you had an FPV camera I would recommend enabling Wide Dynamic Range. I would bet DJI has a similar feature, even if they might call it something else. What it does is help ensure, for example, that as you pan your drone camera around 360 degrees above the tree line, when you look toward the sun in particular, WDR will help prevent the forest below from getting too dark to see what's down there. It will try to lighten the dark areas when there is a lot of light in the view, conversely, it will try to darken bright areas when the view is mostly dark.

Don't get too many mosquitoes round my area but can get sandflies, chalk and cheese I know but still a pain in the a###. Often wonder if they are attracted by the smell of their squashed brethren as the more you rub them off the more you seem to come under attack. Also remember as a boy they'd drive me nuts but leave my Dad alone, little buggers! Epic opening shot too Lars. So can you go full circle or is there civilization in the way? So flat.
