Welcome To Survival-Russia. One of the very best Outdoors and Survival related communities on RU-vid, and yes, It's a pretty good Channel too.
My name is Lars. I'm From Denmark but I live in Rural Russia now. I live at a Homestead in wild nature surrounded by a huge forest.
On The Survival-Russia channel we do all things related to the Outdoors Lifestyle. I share my thoughts and experiences on Survival Techniques for the woodlands of the Northern Hemisphere. the Reality of Survival. I share Techniques and ways of the Siberian Tribesmen and the Russian Longhunters of the older days. Things not shown outside of Russia very much.
On this Channel we also do Off-Road driving, Vehicle builds, Metal Detecting, all things Outdoors basically. Enjoy!

One trick I learned is you can actually hear it when you knock with the back of your knife around the lowest broken branches. Everywhere around it will sound dull and soft, but where the resin has hardened the wood it will make your knife ring like a tuning fork. It's almost like hitting your knife on a rock instead of piece of rotting lumber, the sound difference is very noticeable.

Wow I've just learned something useful today! Never knew this trick, and actually had struggled starting fire where there was no birch trees around. Lars, thank you for making this video! 👍🏻

What an absolute pleasure learning something new, I remember you had taught me something like this when I was over there. But I never saw you take it from a tree stump seeing new forms of fires is auuusome!

Lars, in the southern US, we also know your "fat wood" as "lightern" and the best seems to come from almost totally rotted pine stumps with the resin dry and crystalized in the remaing decaying wood. It burns like it is soaked with petroleum! Good advice for starting a fire if stranded in a evergreen forest!😊
