Many states and federal parks allow concealed carry of a firearm if you have a permit. I have a Rajah 2 and have since been carrying mine. I am 6'5" so have deep pockets. It is heavy but you can acclimate to it pretty rapidly. Some good points and yes there have been more coyote attacks all over and in packs unless rabid. Even with a firearm a knife is always present, pocket or belt generally both. Black bear IF attacked you fight or die, period. A black bear if attacked is there to eat you. The Rajah 2 or any of the large cold steel folders could save you.
There was a rabid fox running around my office building and in the parking lot the other day. There were maybe like 5 people in the entire building because it was close to End of Business. We called animal control but they said it would be a couple of hours before they could get someone out there. I had an XL Voyager on me but I would of felt more comfortable with one of these in my pocket. I'd rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it.
That is precisely the key with any defensive tool, firearm or edged weapon. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Excellent point rawtoon.
If you can't carry a gun, bear spray or a spear is your best option. The spear keeps the animal away so they can't bite you, and was the best option for defense against animals and people from the earliest cave man days all the way until the invention of firearms.
I GOT MY FIRST COLD STEEL FOLDERS BECAUSE OF YOUR REVIEWS: TWO SPARTANS AND A RAJA 2. CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY COMING TO TEXAS SOON BUT A QUALITY KNIFE IS SOMETHING EVERYONE IN THE KNOW CARRIES.
As always - check the laws in your State. Here in CO. we can only conceal a knife with a blade of 3.5" or less. I can open carry a Bowie knife that's 10" long, but by golly, that 3.6" Cold Steel folder is a deadly killer (according to lefties).
Try the large Luzon people hate on it because it’s a liner lock but they don’t know what they r talking about. It completely disappears in the pocket has a flipper tab and wave. It has a blade lock switch that makes it solid AF.
Also if you have smaller/narrow hands you can use 2 hands on the handle, which i know might not be as useful for most things but the added Precision you get by doing that is an advantage
Bear spray, UDAP makes a good one. Long walking stick with a metal pointed tip on the end. Espada XL. You can choke up on it for close stabbing. Penetration will be easier on a thick hide and the blade size will create more damage.
Good job, man ! Nice vid ! Clear and perfectly logical reasoning on why's ... Yeah, is ok to open your eyes and understand that you have to be prepared for all kinds of situations regardless of how unlikely they seem at first sight Yeah, some may think that carrying a gun or a knife is dangerous ! It is, indeed ! But driving a car is dangerous ! So, what are making those things safe is responsibility ! That's all
Rajah 2 is great for trail clearing. I’ve used many times for veggies and branches. Anything wrist size and under is fair game. Anything bigger then better off with a silky saw. Concealment is the reason. People get spooked easy but sometimes you need a chopper power. Also rangers. Better to not have to explain anything even if it’s legal to carry.
A well-made wooden walking stick or like the ones Cold Steel make are perfect for wild dogs, chayotes, wild boars, anything in that size range. Grizzly Bear = I assume u better have a shot gun 😅
I EDC my XL Voyager serated love it one knife for the rest of my life that would be it. I just recently figured out the pocket clip problem I cut the bottom of it off smooth it out and it still holds my knife in just fine. Doesn't fall out at all. No more riped pockets ever again
supposedly Kabar got the name from some guy who killed a bear with a Kabar fixed blade and sent a letter back to someone to document it and all they could read from part of the letter that said "kill a bear" was Kabar
Shotgun is best. Handgun for bear, mountain lion I'd choose 10 mm, 357 mag, 44 mag. But versus coyote or for fire, shelter, etc. Either one would be awesome. The Rajah II looks thicker in the blade.
I gotta Coyote problem I walk my dog at night however It’s hard to clip a Large fixed blade in a concealment shirt or a pair of sweatpants. That’s why I pulled the trigger on an XL Espada. I’m a huge Cold steel fan and owned many XL’s the Espada is my choice. I carry a small fixed blade in my Waistband and an XL in a Concealment shirt
I have the Rajah the Espada and the Vaquero love them all and carry them occasionally. The rajah is the best bang for weight and pocket carry. But that Vaquero is nice and compact.
I was accosted by some aggressive dogs in an American city and I felt pretty good about having a rajah 2 in my pocket. That knife is big enough to get a two handed grip on it and hide behind the thing.
Rifle, shotgun, handgun, big knife, small knife. In that order for protection against almost everything. However remember predators, two or four legged, will most likely not make a sound before they get onto you. So the fastest deployable will be the best option. What that is , is entirely up to you.
I think you're missing pepper spray in that list. Even though it's non lethal, it's still a ranged option with massive stopping power. I'd rather pepper spray a feral dog than let it get close enough to me that I need to deploy even a large knife. Same for wildlife - bear mace may ward off a bear, but the bear will easily swat away an Espada XL and eat you alive.
@@sigiligus no, pretty sure i agreed thst a bear is very dangerous and will be hard to kill. I didnt say pepper spray because its not lethal Youll notice the first things i listed are firearms, after that are the close in weapons. Spray is merely a potential deterrent, provided everything goes in your favor but if you're needing to use something other than the best protection man has devised, you are in way worse shape than you should have been. Or you could not fight back and let it kill you. Id go down with at least a good fight myself.
@@sigiligusPepper Spray isn’t always Effective. Bear Spray ended up getting about a Dozen or So People Killed by Bears also Dogs have been Pepper Sprayed with absolute Zero Effects.
It certainly would with any kind of thrust. Their skin is tough tho. You must be committed. An adult boar is a formidable foe for almost any animal. Their tusks are long razor blades for piercing and slashing.
Espada inside the waistband is the way to go. Belt covers the clip, very easy to forget its there. A little harder to wave open but good enough with practice
Yeah a lot of people don't want to carry a fixed blade. I have 3 cold steel fix blades I do carry them just to work but if I go to a store I would take it off but if I had my Voyager XL I will carry it any where in to a store. People that are not knife people they would freak out
Coyotes are pretty much cowards. Mountain Lions, well you will never see it coming. Dogs will be the worst, then people. I carry a hiking staff, made from Hickory. I now have the Rajah 2, which I will carry from now on. As for a gun. I prefer a revolver, double action. Right now the one I have is just a .22 LR revolver. But it would not be too bad. Mountain Lions usually attack from the rear.
About the pepper spray?????!!!!!! Felon's can't even carry that!! In fact,in most states, felon's aren't supposed too carry a simple little, pocket knife 😔. Now with the being said, I guess I'm getting rid of my Rajah2!!😢 Which is a real kick in the balls!!!😮
A pack of coyotes😂 I carry very large knives because i want to and oddly enough none of the XL folders have blades longer than my own tool. Oh well some peoples kids. Always carry a knife for utility and if needed in a last ditch effort for defense.
Good mentioning the firearm issue with individuals with a felony on their record. I am stuck with a couple due to a stupid thing I did at age of 19 (since the ATF unfortunately wants money from you for every modification you make for guns)
It's called the "Boar's Tusk" by Devil's Edge on Kult of Athena. I made a video about it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eZV0_BXG-jI.html
@@underscorechalice9929 of course its back ordered. It had some pretty good reviews! DAMN... I was pulling the trigger, but have to wait for the bullet lol! Thanks again. I hope it comes in soon!!!
@@underscorechalice9929 Yes, he was hopelessly outnumbered but it does illustrate that in a fight machetes are really too light and flexible to really carry the power of a cut through. Light machetes are supposed to be agricultural tools not weapons. Sure, many an ethnic cleansing has been carried out with these tools but considering that in those situations its mob violence which gives the advantage, I really would not recommend anyone bet their life on a light machete. A blade needs a certain amount of heft to do the work properly.
i gave the benefit of the doubt for all the cringe leading up to it but the second you said "youre legitimately living a cushy/privilidged life if you cant imagine needing a knife like this" i couldnt anymore. One might argue that for $350 and $200 you have to be living a cushy/privilged life to own both as collector pieces while making a youtube video about how youd hypothetically defend yourself from a pack of coyotes and/or a bear attack lol
