During my trip to Kentucky I was able to tour the Wilderness Trail Distillery and do a little recording while I was there. I wanted to share with everyone a little behind the scenes of what you can expect. this DOES NOT do it any justice and I highly recommend you take the tour yourself. Wilderness Trail is doing some incredible things and I hope you one day have an opportunity to visit the Distillery too.

Great video. Wish it was closer to Louisville. They also house barrels for other distilleries. Like many distilleries they just got bought out. Serves it's purpose so they have more access to money to expand and make an even more better experience.

MY BOURBON JOURNEY I really enjoyed the Copper and Oak. Those folks were so friendly and we had such a great time. Lahannah the house manager was a real treat and she has such an array of bourbons to try. I finally got some Weller 12. Had a great time. Pat had just done a bourbon tasting of his 12 year at the restaurant just before we got there.

MY BOURBON JOURNEY it was a fine pour and they were generous with it too. I took my time tasting. I had never had it but it was very nice. It definitely was a Weller!

So, are the rickhouses black to keep their insides hot or are they black to mitigate the appearance of the "angel's share" fungus that coats everything around a distillery?

The answer to that is a little bit of both. They figure they will eventually turn black so they just start out doing it that way. There will eventually turn a bit white do to the fungus that will grow over time. Cheers buddy and thanks for watching.
