I would absolutely love to see more of this. The insight of another highly skilled player and/or coach is extremely beneficial and awesome to see someone else's viewpoint and opinions of your actions.
Great video Brad! Love seeing one of the best in the world analyze the play! Keep bring on more guests as much as possible! Thanks for all your hard work and time you have put into your channel!
Usually not one of my favorite vlogs to watch, but dude I gotta hand it to you for holding on like that against a maniac at the table. There's no way to play them except get it in as good as you can (I'd have flung chairs at the J-2 showdown) and pray that the Gods of Odds are with you. Absolutely LOVED the semi-bluff/straight you made against the Q-high flush because it was your read on his play and his timidness against big bets that won the pot. On those days where the Gods of Odds are against you, the truly good players can still rely on that kind of science! Well done! Now subscribed.
Good video. See everyone in 7 weeks for episode 111. PS camera angle is much preferred to the usual one. You should switch to this for the rest of your vlogs.
this is an amazing format dude. I get those butterflies sometimes. It must be the perspective. Its VERY authentic, this is what playing these stakes really feels like in those tense moments.
excellent video, you got the ATM to call you light multiple times and the cards didn't cooperate there's nothing much you can do there. It was a cool surprise to see Phil Galfond I'm a fan of his, he seems like a genuinely good guy and it is awesome to watch his style of play.
Bro I like what you do. Your dialouge is like no other. You should be a poker commentator. Even tho, you get unlucky sometimes, you make poker look fun. Best poker vlog ever!
Ballen81587 not necessarily. Just don’t get into big pots with them unless you have it. You tighten up against them and be patient. Easier said than done tho I think. Sometimes hard to fold AK on a dry flop that you miss
yeah man there are these two guys I run into a lot in games I play and they don’t care what two cards they have or what positions they are in or what price they are getting if they have and suited cards they play them or any face card they play them but what kills me is they don’t care about money until they hit with those style of cards and someone hits better then they get tilted and it’s so funny but even more so they are still winning players and it kills me because they think it’s good poker instead of good luck. One of them is a good friend of mine and I try to explain why it’s not good poker and he says well I like those cards and I had a feeling they were going to hit and I’m like yeah K2 hit back door boat congratulations but how many times does that work never for me lol but they make so much money from playing a donkey hand like that because they are getting paid off because it’s hard to believe they call/bet $1000 to go runner runner to a boat or baby flush ha
Kyle Goddard not sure if you‘re trolling or not but I guarantee you those guys aren‘t winning players lol. Be happy they‘re in your game, and you‘ll make money off them in the long run easily. If they suck out, say nice hand and well played so they think they did everything right.
Hi Brad! I am usually not commenting under any videos, but this time, I just feel like it. I liked the new idea to go over the hands with someone, who is a successful tournament player. But tbh. most of the time, I like watching your video because of your way to comment on the hands. I´ve never played poker, but I just really like to listen and learn stuff. So the special was pretty nice, but looking forward to your "old" stuff as well.
Haven’t finished the video yet, but I went to college 17 miles from deadwood, it’s a cool town! Also had to get to the comments to let you know how excited I was to see Phil Galfond was in this episode. One of my absolute favorite players, I love in HS poker when he folds a full house against elezra!
I don’t comment too often, I normally just have poker vlogs running in the background as I’m doing something but I was really engaged with this one. I found Phil’s advice really helpful
I am amazed how many people get there when you’re in pretty deep hopefully you’ll have one of those nights where you can do know wrong lol I picked up 9 pocket pair one night and 6 hit in the middle lol your night coming my friend thanks for the content great videos
Yes... do it again... it really quantifies your play which is damn good in my opinion. No matter how good you are... sometimes those slugs wake up with a hand.
This was your best episode, by far! I'll watch this again. Surviving the Crazy action is a feat in itself, but being able to get Phil Galfond's feedback and advice was the best!
The floor made the incorrect ruling on the AKcc hand, in regards to the betting being reopened, unless they have a house rule. This is a commonly misunderstood rule, and is in people's minds from their limit days. From Robert's Rules of Poker section 14, No Limit rule 3: ... may not subsequently raise an all-in bet that is less than the full size of the last bet or raise. (The half-the-size rule for reopening the betting is for limit poker only.) The () are in the rule itself, so you know this gets looked up a lot. So, his all-in would have needed to be to $920 to reopen the betting.
The way they enforced it during the AK hand is how I've seen it everywhere. In my opinion, it seems fair and logical as long as that's how it's always ruled in the room.
@@BradOwenPoker you might be confusing a few rules here. If a player throws in 50% more when they are "calling" they are forced to min raise, such as you bet 30 and they throw in 50. However, when a player is all in like this, it must be a full raise to reopen the action. I've actually worked at a few places you've vlogged and various casinos on the east coast and it has always been this way in my ten years of working and playing.
Hey, great format. Love the analysis between hands with your friend. Also love that you show losing hands too which help to educate as much as the winners.
Phil is a legend, good to see him here. He was on of the first players I ever watched on YT. 3-4 hour videos of 3/6 PLO on Stars on some channel called Donkey...Donkey something...I can’t remember. It was great content...Man, I miss online poker.
Brad, was watching through your old videos this week and saw you made a poker hoodie. I checked the site where you sell your poker swag and didn't see it. Is it ever coming back? Love your content, analysis, and humor. Hope you still enjoy the grind and putting out these videos.
I wish you would make a video explaining all your terminology. Like "under the gun" , "under the gun plus 1" and other things like "the cut off" some people may know what you mean but some don't just an idea would help
I stayed with pocket duces playing with 500 in chips someone gave me for my birthday the run out was 2-4-3-5-3 and I walked out with 765 because 2 guys hit straights and thought it would be a chop. I stayed 3 more rounds then left. My one and only time playing poker in a casino.
re: AKcc action being reopened... that ruling is either flat out incorrect OR i've never seen it before implemented at the various i've played at. re-raise always has to be full minimum to re-open the action.
I thought the same. Might be casino specific. Bad rule, if so IMO. Also, can we get a ruling on how bad it is to call $500 with queens and then fold them for $305 more?
It's correct. Since the bet was an All-In it means that it only needs to be more than half the minimum legal raise in order to re-open the action. That's how it's been at every casino I've worked at, unsure if it is different anywhere else.
I play at a lot of casinos in Australasia and it seems to be a different rule at different casinos. Sometimes a full bet, sometimes a half-bet or more, sometimes even if the bet is $1 more, the fact they have gone all-in means the action is still open. I've never seen it where the action skips a player and then comes back to them though!
That was kool you had Phil Galfond ..... Very kool concept with a pro analyzing your hand. Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negranun, Blumstein should do the same concept for you.
when I saw Phil on the vlog I literally gasped. You're coming up Brad! Keep up the work. You're really inspiring thousands of young Americans that the poker dream is ALIVE and WELL. !!
I swear I run into every Merle in the casino...donkeys who could care less about losing stacks and end up taking yours with J2 off...also...does this place not have any $100 chips??? Those stacks were absurd lol
Gem Mint Miners yeah man there are these two guys I run into a lot in games I play and they don’t care what two cards they have or what positions they are in or what price they are getting if they have and suited cards they play them or any face card they play them but what kills me is they don’t care about money until they hit with those style of cards and someone hits better then they get tilted and it’s so funny but even more so they are still winning players and it kills me because they think it’s good poker instead of good luck. Stop complaining about bad players. These are the people you want in your game. If you can't beat them in the longrun its because you suck. I see people always getting butthurt at the poker table because I make unorthodox plays, if you are playing straight face forward poker you become easy as fuck to read and tbh you're a donkey.
It's pretty simple playing these guys. If u hit top pair top kicker or better then value bet all 3 streets so long as board is safe. If u have nothing then u check since they call so often with anything even complete air
A short all-in raise, even if it is over half of the previous action, doesn't reopen the betting in all but one of the half dozen casinos I have played in. The exception was a small casino in Las Vegas and I thought they might have made that ruling because the player who wanted to raise was a local regular.
@Tony G 410 What's up big dog? I remember seeing myself in one of your vlogs a year back or so lol. I wish I could make it across the bridge for MUGs but i'm sure ill catch you some day
Another great video, love those all-in hands but unfortunate they didn't pay off this time. That town seems really awesome, thanks for a good bucket list suggestion. Literally Brad + Bald and Bankrupt are the two best channels on youtube. Come to Australia please!! ^_^
I played yesterday, I also flopped a top set of 8's in the small blind. I threw out a .5 pot bet , both folded. I was thinking I should have checked top set there, but now that you did the same, I feel better!
best hand breakdown video on the 'tube! really liked this format with deeper thoughts from you and fkn WOW,,,,,phil galfond adding some elite level insight for us skrubs to think on to boot. thank you both but specially YOU bradley👍
Love this dude. Best poker videos out there. I have a question. For home poker games (if you have them) what chips do you use, or what chips do you like even if you don’t
Hope Merrel travels to Houston for Thursday's MUG.. See you there.. Wow! Can you get Phil Galfond on more videos... you two together are strong. Super Vlog as usual Brad. Grateful.
Hey Brad I'm just a random subscriber, but your KK hand, I really like a check in that spot for many reasons. 1. It hits the callers range more, yes u can have pocket 10s. But that's pretty much it. Chance of u having 55s and 44s is less likely. These small pairs like to flat call and set mine. 2. It really disguised the strength of your hand and let u see what ur opponents are capable off. You can even induce weaker hands like 10J or draws to bet for u. Then u can re evaluate and decide if u wanna see the turn or pop it. But the board is fairly dry enough as well that you can check back. 3. Our opponents are uncapped. Look how you got raised behind u. Now it's hard to navigate cause your opponents can really have anything. And its a shitty spot with overpair being raised on 1054 flop. Think bout it. Bad spot for us to play for stacks. We are almost shooting in the dark. 4. If we get draw out, oh well. It happens. But some spots you have to just take that risk or else you end up calling raises not too sure if ur ahead or behind for stacks. Anyways, just my 2 cents. Keep grinding bro. Thanks for the great content. Good luck in ur future sessions
