Every time I see one of these wildfires it brings back memories from the summer of 1985. I want to say good memories, but that sounds a little harsh. But as an inmate with CDC I became eligible for the Conservation Camp Program which allowed us to work with Cal Fire on a couple of wildfires that were burning in Ventura county that Summer. As inmates we were getting paid a whopping $2 a day to build fire breaks ahead of the fire. I can honestly say it was a lot of fun and gave me a sense of purpose. I tried signing up with Cal Fire and the US Forestry service after my release. But at the time they didn’t want ex-cons on their staff. They were cool with us as inmates but not as ex-cons. Go figure. Something I wondered about then and still wonder today, why to people continue to build homes in fire prone areas? Yes its beautiful area but its also a tinder box.
I'm sorry you weren't given a chance to help your continued self-improvement. You sound to be well grounded and I hope things have worked out well for you. Peace to you and best of luck.
@@Ann-st8et Thank you so much. After being paroled in 1987, I met a wonderful young woman and took a job as a truck mechanic for a public utility company. We were married in 1989 and raised two daughters and now have four grandchildren. My wife and I are set to retire in the next three years and move to Arizona. Sometimes life turns out better than expected after a rough start. It’s just as easy to make good choices as it is to make bad choices. It took me awhile to figure that out.
If you thought fire insurance was expensive before these fires just wait until the next insurance bills come out. You better be sitting down before you open the envelope.
That is a red flag that your news source is tainted and no good. Are you aware of the massive fires in Canada? Oregon? Colorado? open your eyes and look around, try different sources of news, fires are everywhere.
Why didn’t they save the water when it was flooding? There would have been enough water to fight fires. But the first factor is real estate. Who is buying the Fire property cheap
If only there was something they could do to prevent forest fires, like maybe better forest management or stopping Eco-terrorist from pushing burning cars off the bluff and then screaming Climate Change 🤡🤡
What research have you done on climate change in every aspect of the globe? It's real. Be aware and don't keep your head buried in the sand. Think of what we're creating for our descendants.
Forests, they need to be managed near populations, mmmmk. What costs more a massive State Wide Forestry Crew, or playing hero firefighter while essentially just watching everything and sometimes everyone burn and having to rebuild entire infrastructureas well as all the homes and businesses? Seems like a simple choice to me.
I'm sure they know what they're doing and I'm grateful to them for their bravery. They don't need finger pointing from someone sitting comfortably somewhere safe. If you didn't mean it in a condescending way, I apologize.
Butler ! Is very popular butler PA butler California there's a missing child from butler ! Wow butler butler what's going on butler! Counties everywhere! Lol so weird!
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. (2 Corinthians 7:10) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: (Acts 17:30)
This is was not a controlled burn. This fire was caused by someone who pushed the car that was on fire over the cliff. The person was seen and is in jail.
One thing I see is improper fire set back distances, which are typically mandated for environments such as this. One thing CA routinely fails at is proper forest management. Logging creates natural firebreaks and removes old and choked out forests to allow for new, young forests to flourish. CA mentality on this topic is broken and blame worthy.
