The Main Yarra Trail is a shared-use path for cyclists and pedestrians, which winds along the Yarra River through the northeastern suburbs of Melbourne. The trail follows the river from near its mouth, through the city and suburbs to Westerfolds Park and Eltham.
The trail offers incredible wildlife viewing opportunities with the route passing through the range of some of Australia's favourite species. From mobs of grazing Kangaroos, to chance encounters with platypus, wombats and Powerful Owl, this video explores the Wildlife of Melbourne as seen from the Yarra Trail. Majority of these animals were seen between Heidelberg and Templestowe.
What I’ve found exciting in my discovery of this trail is that beautiful animals aren’t just confined to distant national parks or isolated locations only those who shop at BCF can get to. They’re everywhere. The trail guides you into pockets of sanctuary in the deepest depths of suburbia where animals have made their homes alongside ours.
