My 1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 drag car started to have problems starting ever since I relocated the battery to the trunk compartment. I relocated the battery and replaced all of the battery cable with extra lightweight cable from XS Power. It started to crank extremely slow and half of the time I would'nt even be able to get the car started. Is a high torque mini starter from JEGS performance the answer?

To truly fix a hot start on a chevy run a ground from batt. neg. to starter mounting bolt. My 14.5 to1 motor always cranks fast

A ground from a trunk battery to a starter, not the best way, believe it or not. Do make sure the motor has same big ground wire to chassis. Also from motor to body. All that sheet metal will carry more current than a 20ft 2awg wire.

Dude this is awesome!! I am havin the same issue in my 73 Pontiac Ventura but doesn’t do it all the time so maybe the starter is slowy goin out the door lol Love how ya were like” YES!!!” Once ya fixed it man best feelin I can relate!! Questions love those the door panels you have ? Are those custom made ? Or can you buy them like that. They are just aluminum door panels ya ?

If it started fine before you moved the battery it’s the lightweight cable that is the root of the whole thing. Fun fact. An old school starter like that let’s assume it pulls 150 amps rolling that motor over. On a 1/0 gauge cable that’s over 6% voltage drop without taking any heat into consideration. If you used 2 gauge the voltage drop is almost 10%. While a different starter might help the situation by drawing fewer amps understanding what all happens when you make these 20’ low voltage DC runs and using quality cable
