Contrary to most of the comments I like that you cover topics in relation to china since its often overlooked or not detailed enough regarding other content. Thanks for your work
Those are called 50 cent army soldiers, they pay poor people 50 cents per a pro china post/tweet/video etc. Its a great strategy, they dont know military secrets you dont have to train them so its incredibly cheap.
feketetv it does start at zero, and He also gives a baseline at $449 for the first bar. I jus say though, the last one is more than double the first bar it’s not proportional but it is definitely a fair enough graph.
@@Makeitwithmanny no it is not,the graph should have continued below and have the baseline 0 on it. This is what advertisers do though, they start from a certain amount and like in this case the amount has just doubled but because the baseline doesnt start at 0 it looks like the amount is 10 times higher or smth
Tbh, neither Google, nor Apple should be trusted. We need a Europe based phone OS developer yesterday. Still hoping some people like the ones behind lubuntu will jump into the phone market.
Jokes aside, I love how you face complex and very relevant topics like these, I love how you keep China, Apple and such on your writing board for more videos.
Polymatter: makes about half of his recent content about one of the largest, most powerful countries in the world People in comments: *make the same dumb joke over and over again
Polymatter: "Hmmm it's been too long since I put out a China video" Polymatter: *spins wheel* Wheel: *lands on apple* Polymatter: "Now THATS something"
More complicated then that. Apple has aggrements plans etc that would be disrupted by a sudden increase. And it would have to pay that billion up front before it had the opportunity to reclaim some of it by selling iphones. Comming up with a billion dollars probably isn't easy even for apple
Well many countries involved in WW2 were on their lowest point after the war had ended economically speaking. Its way more risky today than it was back then so I don't think that China, US or Russia will engage in a war with each other. Maybe other regions like the middle east right now but they are not contributing anything significant to global economy so nobody cares at all.
@@wigglebot2368 Just to show his customers that Apple respects their privacy...but I can assure you, even Google is more adamant about protecting you from governments and other corporations. The conversation went a bit like this: CIA and NSA: Hey Apple, we need you to let us access user information, messages and everything else... Apple: Sure, but on one condition! You'll request access for a specific individual. We'll play hard to catch in the media and make everybody think we will protect their privacy and data. CIA and NSA: Sure mate! This will allow you to retain customers, and probably gain new ones (especially those that brake the law!). WIN-WIN! Apple: Yay! Let's do it!
@@green0563 Are you serious? Do you really need hard evidence to believe corporations are exploiting you? Just look at the taxes they pay, the political contributions they give, and how they treat their customers (from prices to repairs, from accessibilities and freedoms to basic communication procedures).
@Glass My trust issues stem from the stupidity and naivete of the masses...It's so sad watching them trust the very people who are pounding them hard in the ass.
@@efirizaki5656 Ah yes, World War 2 was started by Hitler the economist, not Hitler the fuhrer. Anyways, I say a comment you ignored about your lack of proof to justify that answer. Did you listen to the Onion and thought it was real?
I used to work for apple and while i legally cant disclose how much each product costs to produce per unit, it's less than this video would make you think. Their profit margins look very similar to nike's.
Perpendicular Driving hahaha good old days? Really? Have you read the clauses they put with every IOS update? Those basically say they can use the information on your phone however they want, they are basically doing what they denied the FBI to do at least publicly
Let’s Doodle Something! Yea? Have u seen it? Probably not because of what you just said In the video he explains how they failed in India in terms of sells How is selling in India and manufacturing the same thing? They are moving to India to MAKE phones
Actually, those in China, even foreigners received a notification from Apple about this china data storage thing. I do clearly remember my colleagues had such notifications.
Excellent review of the situation. I had wondered why besides profits that Apple stayed in China. They both seem to have opposite ideologies. It does really bother me that Tim Cook is such a hypocrite, but Google is worse. I also like how Google removed their corporate motto "Do no evil", so they could continue their work in China.
"States now had too much to lose from going into war." He was right. And so is anyone who dismisses the conflict between China and Apple. You mean people who dismiss the conflict are right? I think you're trying to say that China and Apple are like the states who have much to lose, but the way you worded that was confusing and seemed to imply something very opposite in meaning?
Thanks for doing this video, it summarizes pretty well the arguments I'm having to repeatedly write to fight against the biases and misconceptions people have about chinese production. I would have gone even further, because some of the rancid beliefs people have about China are really pervasive, rooted in racism, and dangerously blind. It's not value judgement too, I'm not saying it's a good thing China has advanced so much with it's current government, I'm saying it's extremely dangerous to think of China in terms of technology as some 3rd rate country that only copies US and EU stuff. This is very far from the truth. It's been far from the truth for well over a decade now. For instance, that extraction of rare minerals that is done in China? It is not a simple matter of having concentrated deposits in other parts of the world. It's about the technology and infrastructure China has developed over several years for extraction that is unparalleled. There are some rare earth mineral mines in the US that basically mine the material, and then send it all to China for processing, because the mining company in the US just does not have the technology for refinement that China has, as well as regulatory barriers and whanot. And this whole video is also valid for practically all other smartphone brands, because no other country has the output capability, mass production facilities, infrastructure for development and transportation that China has. If there is a concerted effort from electronic companies to start building replacement infrastructure elsewhere, it would still take decades to get anywhere close to what cities like Shenzhen can do right now... not to mention tons and tons of money. Think of it like this - it isn't just about factories, it's also about the technology that was developed by chinese companies over several years, qualified workers, roads, incredible shipping infrastructure, trade routes, all sorts of politics involved, and after all that managing to attract all significant parties involved in making each tiny component inside of a smartphone which all have their own research and development cycles. So, when Apple comes out to say they are moving production to some other country, what they really mean is that they are opening a factory or something to do a tiny point in the bible of things needed to put an iPhone together. It's final assembly of some product usually, because that is something that can be profitable if the local market can absorb it. Moving all steps necessary for a full smartphone assembly is outright impossible right now. Also, about Google, closing doors and moving away software and services is waaaaay simpler than hardware production. But even Google is majorly regretting this, which is why the entire Firefly controversy came about. Because now, you have a country that has almost 5 times the population of the US that is living perfectly well without Google. They already lost that market to chinese companies, and entering the country today would be kinda meaningless. Microsoft launched Bing in China back in 2009, it's still the lowest performing search engine there.
We’ve been an 5 phone Apple family for over a decade - we’ll be trading all of them in for Samsungs next time around. I’ll NOT send any more $ to Chi-Comms.
Heh. I can recall reading a post mortum on Apple trying to produce more in the US. They ran into seemingly silly problems like not being able to buy the right type of screw in the volumes and on the timeline needed. Why? Well, not enough of that manufacturing was done in the region, so no companies had the capacity for an order like that with the lead time needed. Companies also struggle to find people in the US who can optimize designs for manufacturing... so it isn't just the skilled workers, but the logistics and engineering talent are all in China too.
Well good to picture china in a 360p resolution like tech doesn't exist at all. I wonder how hard was it to find those clips of China to begin with hahaha.
Nice video as always, but I think you got something wrong. When China demanded local storage of iCloud, Apple DID send a letter for every consumer telling about it and even instructed chineses how to remove everything they had from iCloud and how to disable the service. They said in the same letter that the chineses didn’t had access to the keys of anyone’s iCloud, but even so they gave no guarantee of privacy for those who used the service.
according to GDPR, app services data needs to be in European servers, yeah that's totally fine. China asks u to store data in China server? That's just unacceptable!
I think the concern isn't about where the data isn't being stored (back at Apple homebase) and instead more related to where it is forced to be stored. Apple probably trusts Germany to respect basic privacy laws a whole lot more than they'd ever be willing to trust China
The consumer base has not shown much sign of not buying the new Apple product just because of silly reasons like "I don't need it", and "what I have works perfectly well for me". If it has an apple with a bite missing on the back of it, people will buy the hell out of it.
Tiger474 in the tech community it is just the general opinion, but of course the eco system is really powerful. So of course people will buy them, but it will not be as good as the iPhone X was at its launch.
I've worked on Gold mines in Australia and all the chemicals get pumped to a man made pond/lake until the mines close and it's just left there. Id hate to be an animal that takes a drink before realizing what it is then having nothing to wash your mouth out with. Lots of kangaroos, goats and wild dogs/dingoes always around
