Thanks for doing an update on this coating, Luke. I went from excitement to scepticism after I first discovered it and some recent reviews are setting things in stone for me. At this point, I think I'd start to compare it to something like CQ Lite, which is still a better deal due to $/oz and durability it would seem. Would enjoy seeing maybe a 6mo update possibly a year if it lasts that long. Thanks for all of your hard work and generosity!
I have a 2004 Tahoe that is black. When I got it the paint was not that great and I happen to paint cars for a living so I gave it a nice new black two stage paint job the first month I had it. It has black paint to match 24"s on it and when I did the paint job I spent no joke a week on color sanding and buffing it out. I forgot that not just a two stage paint job but I did flow coat it. That's after the base color and clear coat was applied and it dried a bit you wet sand it with 1000 grit and apply three coats in my case of additional clear with out any base coat so just clear and let me tell you it makes the paint look wet and supper deep looking. After all the time I spent on making her look amazing!!! I wasn't going to let it get any swirls and no matter how hard you try, if you use any wash mitt or microfiber cloth no matter what you will get tinny scratches that will show up in the paint black being the worst!! Black looks so dang good when it's all perfect tho! Anyway I did the armor shield coating on it and I used two kits just to be sure nothing was in treated if you will. I obviously don't take it out mudding or on any dirt roads so it doesn't get crazy dirty but I literally will us my power washer and spray it off really good, then use my foam Cannon with a heavy emphasis on the foam part! I will allow it to sit about 3-4 minutes give or take then power wash it off again. I do the wheels first and I use a mitt for them because of brake dust but the rest of the truck the foam Cannon is it. I rinse it off then I have a cheap little leaf blower I modified the tip a bit to make it more of a big sheet of air or a direct point if I swap the tip out and that is how I dry it. And that is it... Been doing it for about a year now and It is just as easy as day one and it still works and looks amazing. Trick to no swirls is don't touch it!! I absolutely love the armor shield coating it's amazing stuff!!
Agreed, I've seen spray ceramic handle better in the same time span, and their significantly more affordable. When a company charges $75 it should preform better this is worse the CarPro UK 3.0 (which isn't bad but costs 2/3rd) and that's like $55 (though the kit is more) and it has a far better history as a reputable ceramic coating.
@Lance File it might just be that he used the ceramic wash. Maybe if he used something more intensive like CarPro Reset then it would have fixed it. I’m sure this is a good coating and it has lasted on my car since it came out in 2017 and it beads water better than this. It also took a beating with salt on roads and not being washed. With regular maintenance washing as well it would mitigate this. Just some troubleshooting. Not a total expert about this I’m just curious why the coating on the truck wasn’t holding up as well. Have a good day!

@@richsmith3120 I have also installed CarPro's Ck quartz and Artdeshine's non professional Graphene coating. Avalon King Ceramic coating has been extremely easy because of the instructions besides their packaging. I will also use Apex Detail(Brian) new coating since received it last week, it is also extremely easy to apply too and includes the dropper he always mentions on his videos. All needed besides that not included in the packaging compared to Avalon King is the block, suede towels, the microfiber towel and gloves😉👌.
I just recoated my Avalon King ceramic after all the required prep steps. But did it outside on the first warm day. It rained 23 hours later and got cold. Now I have a good looking truck with no hydrophobicity. Sheets like uncoated paint. The first time it lasted about a year. I used a graphene detail spray and it went to another level. Going to recoat with a different ceramic. If you can afford it, have a professional use a higher quality coating.
I went to get Chemical guys Hydro Charge ceramic coating. It's a spray able polymer ceramic. 10 times the product for half the price. It sets up in 2-3 hours and is super slick. Great fir DIY'ers when you don't have a garage. Lasts up to 12 months and best if you polish old coatings off but solved my problem.
@@britav8392 I only used one bottle and I got 2-3 coats on it I believe I don’t remember entirely because it was almost 2 years ago but one bottle is good enough to cover the whole truck
Great video. But I'm a bit disappointed with the performance on the truck. After all the effort to prep the paint and just a couple of months later it's degrading, regardless of the conditions it's been exposed to which seem pretty ordinary to be honest nothing extreme. Just my opinion. Keep up the great work!
Iv used gyeon mohs, cquk 3.0, tac sparkle plus and yeah same thing its always the lower half of the vehicle on my heavily soiled daily driven vehicle but already 2yr on the Z on cquk 3.0 which doesnt see a lot of dirt
Everybody on youtube is doing a hard sell on this so I bought some still waiting for it to come. But your amazed at bead up after 3 weeks?....My Meguire gold wax holds up that long. 2 months on the ford I wasn't impressed now I am wishing I didn't buy Armor shield
Avalon King is heavily promoted on RU-vid by both professional detailers and car channels. I’m certain at a minimum the product is given away free, and in many cases it likely includes payment for promotion. It’s just more “influencer” type nonsense. There are much better and far more cost effective coatings out there.
you all probably dont care at all but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
I used it almost a month ago and there is water hitting but there no slickness at all almost like there is no wax or anything on the paint! What did I do wrong?
This avalon is seems its just a good durable WAX. Not a long life high end Ceramic coating. Even not close. Thank you for showing it to us. Great Job again.
Sad to say that I’m not at all surprised by the water behaviour on this truck after using said ceramic coating. That’s all I can say until I do more tests with this coating.
Glad I seen this, won’t be buying Avalon, I’ll stick with Fireball products.. put Fireball in a daily work truck similar to the one in the video 6 months ago and still beads like day one
The first vid seemed like you applied the ceramic coat in the winter, cold day, best time to coat cars are like 65-80F, and not suppose to drive the car for 48 hours, which I doubt the customer waited that long. Could of been even better results.
Hmmm I used it on the plastic trim on my truck I made sure the trim was clean and them did isp on the trim to make sure the dirt was off then applied the coating in February and by August it seemed to be gone there was a little but mostly gone it didn’t last very long to me
Hi Luke. I have a customer that wants a Ceramic coating for her Lease GMC Black Acadia, but she doesn’t want maintenance maybe take it to a regular car wash once a month. Which one would you recommend us. I have a bottle of GlassParency Graphene coating but I think that’s a little fancy for that. Ty for your videos.
Maybe its not proper to give an answer here but can you? When you compare Avalon with Nasiol ZR53 what you think which one will beat? Just wanna know your objective idea. thx in advance.
This coating is just NOT working, sad, but true story. I tried it for 3 times but unfortunately it's not working. Ofc I polished, Gyeon prep wipedown etc...
What matenance liquid do you use on top of armour shield? I just coated my car two days ago and looking for something good to buy for a Topper. I heard carpro gloss is a good one have you used it? If not what do you use?
I’m waiting on my new car to be delivered myself when I get it I’m taking it straight home for hand wash clay bar than light polish if needed than coating it with apex surface protection
First off. you are getting paid for this. Second, recording this video in front of Steve Jobs + Albert Einstein etc... is a joke. Third, I watched you cuz I thought you were honest. Fourth, USE YOUR EYES, that stuff is degrading after 2 months. Its supposed to last 2 years. How can you lie like that? I hope the money was worth it.
AVALONKING is not that great of a product. I tried it on two different vehicles and all the water repelency disappeared almost immediately. I prepped my paint for hours. And applied the coating in a garage and compared to a $25 Amazon ceramic coating… it was honestly pretty bad. The slickness also started fading and unless I added a topper on the ceramic coating… it really wouldn’t repel anymore. I’ll go for any other ceramic coating at this point before I go to avalonking
A sign of quality, is intrinsically consistency, something that several dispute in regards to Avalon. Really nothing "hater" about it, frankly that's just a generic excuse to ignore any possibly criticism because someone somewhere had a different experience/opinion than you so "haters". 2 months is frankly nothing in all honesty, this isn't 2 years it's 2 months, a $5 generic tin of tax at any store will last that long yet you are acting as if it was a touch down, and the golden standard. Just the pinnacle of quality .. every bottle of ceramic spay under $10 I've bought has last at least 2 month .. You can buy ceramic coatings off Alibaba for $2 that last for a year or more, this is significantly more expensive by comparison with several other well known brands selling at the same $75 price with a better history of product quality. I still can't get over the comment either you didn't watch the video to find out it is a 2 month update, and just came to praise it, or you think 2 months for this is an accomplishment?? I'll keep watching for future updates, if it lasts 1.5+ years I'll consider it on par with basically every other coating on the market, currently nothing for or against it really, just many different people having many different experiences. I'm not going to personally discredit others experience, videos, history with this product 'just because' regardless if that qualifies me as a "hater" or not. This is $75, and so far all I've seen is it lasts at least as long as $5 wax, I still do not see how you are gloating over this when it's been 2 months it just comes off as 3rd party praise for something that (in my opinion) doesn't warrant praise, as 2 months for a true ceramic coating is nothing at all.
Wdym lmao the coating is already what I would call "not effective" It's not even beading on the hood it's sheeting off only because the coating creates a smooth surface. How can you get paid a grand to apply this and it doesn't even last as long as gyeon wet coat which is a $20 product that takes 5 minutes to apply.
